I'll trust you to do some thread editing when you sober up, whatever hour on Tuesday that happens is anyone's guess though.
I never knew skate trainers were such an aphrodisiac, shows how out of touch I am with the current crop of young folk...
But then, in my day, we had heroes like Tesla....

Actually, I'll leave them up till midday, let everyone take it all in, then do a little editing myself... Before you get banned!

If it's any consolation I'm in ribbons in mass and there's screaming children.

And yes I am posting directly from mass. Which I'm going straight to hell for.

Oh, I'm sure he's around somewhere, people, even regulars, take a break sometimes.
Besides, Jamma+ is a seductive place, tempting folk away with promises of fortune and glory....

I'm pretty sure we haven't :) . Don't want to say too much more than that, will let the man speak for himself.

Oculus Rift - good news and bad news.

Good news, my order status has changed to -

Order Status: Ready - Your order is ready! We'll notify you as soon as it's shipped.

Bad news, it's not shipping with Doom 3 BFG edition for some strange reason. They're offering steam store credit or a refund instead.

I think I'll still hang on and get the devkit. It looks like there are people making 3rd party drivers to get the kit going with other games like HL2 and Mirrors Edge (!).

edit - no drama attached to the Steve_SI bit above, I'm just trying to be responsible. :D

Are there any plans to release The Cave on a physical medium at all?

Great game, love to see it on the 3DS, but hasn't Gilbert left Double Fine?

The reports of my death are greatly exaggerated :D

Hello chaps(and lady/ladies?), I've not abandoned my post here in retro land but just been mental busy over the last couple of months (the job and becoming freshly single has taken up a lot of time).
Life should be returning to a more stable state soon so I hope.

Have I missed any major events/purchases?

    News Flash!
    Retr0 still hates LoD!
I still find scrolling beat'em ups to be utterly pointless!
    Atavan-halen still drunk posts!
So, no Steve, business as usual!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,183 ✭✭✭✭Atavan-Halen

Well I'm fairly well on now. So whatever #yolo.

I would kill to have ville valo's voice. Think of all the women I could deduce!

I like deducing women. Makes me feel all, sherlocky

Certainly reduce the number of STIs you'd pick up... "I deduce that fine looking lass is actually riddled with genital warts, good thing I'm better at deduction than seduction or my member would look like a pepperami... again....."

How the mod of an arcade & retro forum can dislike scrolling beat em ups just does not compute. Were the powers that be aware of this fact before making you mod? :D

Well, I know... but thankfully there are many good genres represented in the retrogaming pantheon, not just Golden Arse and Streets of Suck Ass.

I take it all back, from now on I shall play nothing other than SoR and the like.
They are the greatest of all game genres and I feel foolish for ever suggesting that they are pants.

Forgiveness please to all posters here on the A&R forum.

[honesty] I may be lying [/honesty]

Started Persona 4 Golden yesterday, played for 5 or more hours and nothing has happened. Game looks great, sound track is good, charachter design is good but zero has happened.

I had one battle about 4 hours in then nothing again. Now I know t's a slow starter but come on.
It'll get going soon according to the internets. It better.

Also completed Assassins Creed3 Liberation yestrday.
Good game but posed very little challange, infact I would call the game easy far too easy. Lots of hand holding going on.
The only real challanges in the game were putting up with crappy level desjgn and uber annoying controls.

Well its not that they are the greatest genre or anything, its just if I think of arcade games, scrolling beat em ups is a genre that springs to mind. What is it about the likes of SoR2 that you wouldn't like?

Kat Bailey is leaving joystiq and moving to a job with EA :( I think that completes the loss of every games journalist who I trusted in one month. She was by far the best journalist around when it came to RPGs and a fellow crusader against Legend of Dragoon. At least jeremy parish at IGN is still writing about obscure stuff.

  • Moderators, Category Moderators, Computer Games Moderators, Society & Culture Moderators Posts: 34,754 CMod ✭✭✭✭CiDeRmAn

I don't know, just find the whole walking from left to right with a limited move set, smacking palette swapped identikit enemies around, all a bit M'eh....
There are a few exceptions, Aliens and Aliens Vs Predator on arcade hardware, Comix Zone, Knights of the Round, Armored Warriors, Batman Returns... ok, maybe more than a few exceptions, but the reason they are good is that there is always something interesting to looks forward to on the next screen or level.
Final Fight, Streets of Rage, Golden Axe, Altered Beast, TMNT, Simpsons, all I find mind numbing, only the XMen is almost not dung, and that's because of an interest in the subject matter.

But, hey, it's only like my opinion.
And, yes, I do like Halo, and lacklustre FPS on the PS2.......

Should I beware the Ides of March?
    Will there be a coup?
Do I have to look out for daggers and my imminent replacement?

She'll probably get a job writing the blurb for the back of a Legend of the Dragoon sequel, just to compound the misery!
