Youve just stepped in the ring with one very determined person.

This is the bit that just screams tw@t :(

I wouldnt be surprised if he knew well in advance that the place wasn't wheelchair accessible, and that it's all a pre-planned vendetta.

^ Well, he's a regular in Lillies across the road and is good friends with management there apparently. Could be right!

In any case, quoting a post removes the original quotes that the poster used, so I thought it would be better to direct to the actual post with quotes intact, as it makes more sense and reads better! :)

Yeah i hate that, it's a lot of trouble to include the quoted quotes in the quote :). Just as a fyi if you want to be able to do that in the future the best way is to click on the post number on the right hand side, this opens the post in a new window, then just copy and paste the address of that post into your own post.

Sorry have I missed something here? Is there some reason you're pushing at me for not having a Facebook account? I don't get the smart arse comments. I only asked if there was a Facebook page set up for the bouncer. That's all just a question.

Yes, sarcasm is usually the best route to take when you're trying to make an apology as a damage limitation exercise.

It is when you're dealing with a media savvy asshole who tries to wedge in his disability as the only possible reason why people could take a dislike to him.

His ego, sense of entitlement, and his shìtty attitude are more disabling than his lack of mobility IMO.

Aye, that's why I said "into the future," your post was on Page 21 for me. ;)

Slightly OT, but making a quick note when you enter a place is the best idea. I always make sure to take note of at least two exits, and I'm not just talking about clubs but cinemas, restaurants etc.. I even have a precise plan should there be a fire at home and a back up in case my first route is blocked. If you're prepared and don't panic then you're giving yourself the best possible chance to get out. I remember one Dublin nightclub I was in 5ish years ago that was extremely over crowded and as far as I could make out had only two exits, right beside each other. I didn't hang around long and never went back.

I check exits etc.. But that's so I don't get caught off guard if the zombie apocalypse occurs.

I just checked on facebook and the newer posts are like this.
hmmmmm ive just found this on FB!!!: "My friend witnessed the whole thing that night...the bouncers said Graham was more than welcome to enter the club but they weren't insured to carry him down the stairs, but that his friends could. His friends went NUTS, screaming and mouthing off at the bouncer. It was at this point the bouncers turned away his group. It is wrong that he has spun it and is using his disability to cover up his bruised ego!''

re-instate the bouncer i say!!!

Has your man said any more since the club issued the apology?

No, just copying the same thing again and again after getting the apology. Although I don't think he has posted anything since yesterday.

The guy is a socialite, well know in trendy circles, works in media (which is usually a euphemism for 'Arsehole'), knew well the club lacked access, wanted to create a shiit storm, boost his profile etc - stop giving this fool the oxygen of publicity, IGNORE!!!!!

So he hasn't even got the decency to publicly acknowledge the unreserved apology after creating the shitstorm and costing a man his job?

Inspirational indeed

I don't think he's said anything since the initial post on facebook. He just posted the apology and a link to a story about it on journal.ie and rsvp.ie.
But the comments on facebook definitely aren't all in his favour any more. Anyone that spends more than 2 seconds thinking about the story and the probability of what happens are on the side of the nightclub/bouncer.
The club should never had issued the apology, just given the reason why he wasn't able to go in and let the bouncer tell us how our hero behaved.

He probably has given his version of events several times.

His friends who were posting here have fecked off too. They were probably the ones giving the bouncers abuse.

So have the users who registered to defend him.

@irishgirl19. Here's the apology

Someone posted earlier, the staff have all been told to keep quiet.

If the bouncer works for an agency, then they might be still employed by that agency, and they probably don't want to lose their job.

I've been reading through this thread in bits and pieces and I'm really struggling to understand why this incident inspires such ire in people.

Yeah that's the thing I don't get. And also them saying people in wheelchairs, or something along those lines, are more than welcome anytime. Either they can or cannot facilitate wheelchairs. I've have visions of 20 or so people in wheelchairs rocking up to that club southpark style next saturday :pac:
Race night!

Everyone involved should have kept their mouths shut in the first place!
That includes the guy in the wheelchair.
If he had a problem, he should have put it in writing to the management or requested a meeting with them.
The way he went about it, he deserves everything he gets!
Hopefully he'll think twice the next time!

I think it's because people find the actions of the individual to be despicable and underhanded. He has used his disability to try and create a big story surrounding the discrimination he faced when in fact it's becoming clear that if anything it is he who should be issuing an apology.

It seems that the whole thing was a pr stunt to negatively affect a club that was in direct competition to one that he was a regular guest of and is quite friendly with the management.

Makes you think why would a wheelchair user want to go to a small cramped club where the only exit is by the stairs.

Looks to me like as if he wanted to cause trouble.
