Wheelchair user refused entry to Dublin Nightclub.

A friend of mine of many years 'Graham Bolger' was refused entry to the Madison Nightclub on Wicklow Street, Dublin, last night, because he is a wheelchair user :mad:

Last night I was refused entry to Madison nightclub in Dublin on the grouds that I was in a wheelchair...and that was just the start of my 45 min ordeal of extreme discrimination at the hands of their staff.

In my 8 years adventuring in a chair i have never been refused entry to any venue anywhere in the world from boats to cliff top castles, festivals to beach clubs, car rallys to deep sea dives. well done Madison. Youve just stepped in the ring with one very determined person.

What century are they living in ? Shame on them

I wouldnt be surprised if he knew well in advance that the place wasn't wheelchair accessible, and that it's all a pre-planned vendetta.

His friends went NUTS, screaming and mouthing off at the bouncer. It was at this point the bouncers turned away his group. It is wrong that he has spun it and is using his disability to cover up his bruised ego!''

I don't think he's said anything since the initial post on facebook. He just posted the apology and a link to a story about it on journal.ie and rsvp.ie.
But the comments on facebook definitely aren't all in his favour any more. Anyone that spends more than 2 seconds thinking about the story and the probability of what happens are on the side of the nightclub/bouncer.
The club should never had issued the apology, just given the reason why he wasn't able to go in and let the bouncer tell us how our hero behaved.

If the bouncer works for an agency, then they might be still employed by that agency, and they probably don't want to lose their job.

Everyone involved should have kept their mouths shut in the first place!
That includes the guy in the wheelchair.
If he had a problem, he should have put it in writing to the management or requested a meeting with them.
The way he went about it, he deserves everything he gets!
Hopefully he'll think twice the next time!

I think it's because people find the actions of the individual to be despicable and underhanded. He has used his disability to try and create a big story surrounding the discrimination he faced when in fact it's becoming clear that if anything it is he who should be issuing an apology.

It seems that the whole thing was a pr stunt to negatively affect a club that was in direct competition to one that he was a regular guest of and is quite friendly with the management.
