are superdry jackets chavvy

hi i was always liked the look of superdry jackets going back a good few years but it seem every tomo dicko and harry seems to have one now. i was all set to buy one last week but didn't because i thought they might be to common. what do you guys think? they look very nice and seem to be made very well so should be a good buy. but something is holding me back

I think they can be nice but try and avoid one with very prominent logo. If possible. Big logos are naf

Not buying one because you think they are 'too common' says more about you than the people that wear them.

Anyway, they are well made and they do last. Have gotten laughably overpriced since they became popular though, they have an official store on eBay which there is usually good discounts on.

Em not really, he didn't ask if they were too common, he asked if they're chavvy. Besides, would you say the same to someone 8 or so years ago if they were asking if burberry print tracksuit with matching baseball caps were chavvy?

I don't think superdry is in the same league as that, though, but there's no reason to by nasty to someone just for asking like.

FWIW OP, I think they're lovely and really well made. Some of the logos can be in your face but there are plenty that are a bit more subtle and nice.

as i said in the original post i do think they are nice looking jackets. maybe there is something nice about wearing a good looking jacket that a the percentage of your peers don't have.

I don't think they are chavvy. I think they are quite nice, but I would go for one with a small logo . I think they are on the back shoulder.

Alot of the skangers in Limerick seem to have them now more than likely fake but seen alot of superdry jackets jeans and t shirts on skanger guys

If you're worried about it, don't buy one.

Probably chavy by association rather than chavy because they look that way. I just wouldn't like wearing something that so many other people are wearing. It just gives the impression that you're a brain dead moron. i know not everybody who wears them are like that but that sort of sheep mentality probably exists in quite a lot of wearers. With internet shopping and large and independent retailers galore there's more choice than ever, so the excuse that's it's a nice fitting coat is nonsense. But everybody is free do do what they want.

So yeah, not a big fan.

I've a few of them, one leather and two windcheater types and I love them. I don't think they are chavvy at all..quite the opposite actually!

They just look like generic hiking/rain-type jackets, at least the wind cheater ones that seem to be everywhere.

If the logo bothers you, there's loads of jackets around in that style.

If you like them, what does it matter? I don't consider them "chavvy".

I got one in about 2008 I think it was, before they were available here (I got it in the north). But then I noticed that loads and loads of guys were wearing them so I sort of went off mine.

And this is going to sound ridiculous...but I've never seen anyone "cool" wearing one... its always been bootcut-jeans type guys. I consider myself fashionable and wouldn't want to be considered the same as those guys!! :-)

Now I expect to be pillored for that comment!!

But seriously, each to their own. If you like it and it looks good on you and it makes you feel good about yourself, wear it.

I... can't... I really dislike bootcut jeans.. especially when worn with shoes, and when the back part is all tattered from trailing on the ground...

Believe me I used to be a bootcutter, in fact I used to wear massive jeans back in the 90s. Bigger the better. But now, there's no excuse for it, when you can get a really nice pair of straight / relaxed fit jeans that don't have the wide ends.

I couldnt pull off straight legged jeans.
My arse is too big, my shoes size is too big and my mickey would suffocate!

Mate, I have size 12 feet... can't get any bigger than that (well you can, but... you know).

I've big legs / thighs too... I'm not talking skinny, I'm just talking "normal" jeans that don't flare out... they don't have to be bootcut.

Diesel do good ones, Larkee is what they are called. Great fit, nice and loose on the leg.

Anyway, back to Superdry!! Eh, the hoodies are awful!! Etc.

Straight leg ≠ Skinny jeans

Although I find a lot of straight leg jeans are in general, a little more fitted than regular jeans.

Edit: As for Superdry, they have become quite ubiquitous, though that wouldn't stop me purchasing them if I was interested.

I'd only ever consider them as the most casual of jackets though, so perhaps that is how some might associate them with chavvyness?
Additionally if you go down the route of associating brands as chavvy if some people fitting that description wear them, then I'd also consider Tommy Hilfiger, Ted Baker, Ralph Lauren Poloshirts and a host of other brands chavvy despite them generally being considered 'good quality' by a lot of people.
