No, and the threat of inevitable civil disobedience is one of the main impediments to a UI.

Neither will Republicanism, which is something some have yet to take on board.
It pretty much will, in the event of an independent UI irish republicanism will have achieved it's ultimate goal. I'm sure the honourable and noble IRA will keep up their drug dealing but their purpose for existence will be to maintain the status quo.

Amazing that you ask somebody of the Republican tradition to accept unionist traditions, but balk and sneer at the mere thought of the reciprocal gesture.

You might link me to evidence of the provisional movement being involved in the drugs trade.

I do want unionists to accept nationalist traditions but I don't see the IRA as a nationalist tradition.

The provos don't exist any more.

People seem to think its the OO per se that people dislike so much, its not! It's the triumphalism thats the problem there's none of that when they march in Donegal every year(people there wouldn't stand for it).

Yes it is, half the "country" hate the other half and jump at the opportunity to beat lumps out of each other, have you forgot the troubles so soon? wouldn't take much to start it off again.
Have you ever been in my country? It is safe and other than a few bigots (like you) on either side everyone gets on fine, I am a unionist and have many Catholic friends, I even went to a funeral mass for a good friends mum. Out of all the people I know there are very few bigots, my granny was very bigoted but her brother was killed in a ira bomb. The older generation will take their hate to the grave leaving our generation to decide if we want to dwell on their hardships and keep the bigotry alive (like you) or move on.

I dont want a United Ireland with Unionists, best case scenario would be for them to take their own advice and go home, the British should of done the right thing and brought all the colonists back with them after the war of independence, instead they left us with the mess that is Northern Ireland.
The amount of narrow minded bigotry displayed on this thread by you is staggering.

Worst of all, you clearly have not got a clue what you are talking about. Not one iota.

    Are you proud of yourself?

The vast majority of the nationalist population vote for Sinn Fein. This would suggest you should do some rethinking. Not that you will.....you have clearly a set of double standards....
On the other hand I would call the signing of the ulster covenant courageous. Here we have a group of people standing up for their right of self determination and refusing to be herded off to Dublin administration by the British, their supposed country men.

Changing to a unionist narrative is hardly progress. More akin to abandoning the wheel for a sled.

Which part? that nationalists were treated like **** by the unionists or that Ireland would be better united and without the unionist population? i stand by both of these, wouldn't expect you to agree.

Everything looks bad when you twist the context doesn't it? Here I was admiring the peaceful defiance of Ulster Scots who stood up for their right to self determination against both Dublin and London. Obviously I don't condone the violence that happened afterwards. Sane people don't condone politically motivated terrorism...

No I was talking about the IRA in a united Ireland, since the provos have disbanded with no intention of setting up again I didn't see the need to specify, you simply choose to invent offence that wasn't there based on your pre conceived notion of me as some sort of enemy. I'm far from it.

Im all for moving on :D but its hardly moving on when all everyone does is slate their own country and big up a country that invaded most of the world killing god knows how many.

But yet when Ireland fights, they are terrorists but the British, Its fine??? I dont get it.

All a load of ****e anyway

Yes, there are quite a few who play for them. Next.

You should keep asking questions, you might learn a thing or two.

I have and yes in the Irish case violence wasn't even needed. We had home rule coming to us after the war.

Again based on your own needless unfounded pre conceived notion of me. The provos never even entered my mind when I made that comment. Not that I hold them in much esteem or anything.
