Was a complete disaster this weekend, I was out drinking and I did the hangover grazing thing yesterday followed by a takeaway. Fully expecting to be up on the scales on Wednesday.

But the best part is I don't care :D I had a great weekend and saw people I haven't seen in months and enjoyed every bit of it, I know I can start eating properly again today and go from there!

Like a demon, so cross, got weighed in and after spending 5 tough days in gym and doing a 5 mile walk/run Saturday I only lost .4 of a lb!!!!!!!
Can't believe it, I was so good dieting, probably too good, instructor said... skipped few meals, no snacking so long breaks between eating...
Trainer did say reading shows 3lb increase in muscle and 3.5 fat loss, water up and bmi down and is good news... Just so disappointed..
    :(

Baaad week lads, feeling very angry and frustrated with myself. I basically ate everything in front of me this last week, and I have no idea why I did it. Back on track as of yesterday, but undid a couple of good weeks weight loss.

    Anyway, onward and upward.

i've done that a few times :) don't worry about it, it's a slow process if you do it right so a few bumps in the road here and there aren't anything to worry about

    Hey guys

Quick question if thats okay, I bought Galtee Smoked back rashers the other day for breakfast instead of turkey rashers as they were much cheaper (watching the pennies).

They're much higher in fat and lower in protein and I'm thinking now the little bit extra for the turkey rashers is definitely worth it.

    For example:
    2 turkey rashers: 53kcal, 1g carbs, 0g fat, 12g protein
    2 Galtee rashers: 104kcal, 0g carbs, 9g fat, 10g protein.

I just want to be sure before I change back that I'm not missing anything? The turkey rashers have to be the better option?

I don't eat the rind of the normal rashers, will that take some of this fat count off? The reason I ask is the last few days I've noticed my fat consumption has increased relative to everything else and I want to keep an eye on it and reduce it where possible.

    Thanks!

In terms of value for calories, you get a lot more bang for your buck with the turkey rashers. But one thing I've learned on here is not to be afraid of the fat. It's the salt content of the the galtee rashers that would put me off them.
Not eating the rind would cut much of the sat fat out of the galtee ones anyway if you were going to eat them. :)

Not having a good day today at all lads. I feel huge. Feel like I've gained, my body is bloated and just feels big. I was having serious cravings today for carbs and junk and I did resist but I still feel as if I've binged or something.

Hate this. My weight was so unstable for so long I felt like I had final stabilised it. Now I feel like it's all over the shop again.

I know I sound like a broken record but it's messing with my head tonight. :(

I generally eat Turkey whenever I can. Turkey steaks from Dunnes Stores are the business. I chop them up and make a stir fry. Turkey is a super food in that the ratio of calorie to protein is very efficient.

Thankya :) I'm not afraid of fat per se, I'm afraid of how much fat I'm eating  I'm hitting my fat goal on mfp every day (and going over) and since I'm not exercising (yet) I'm afraid of overdoing it!

Please please please don't let it mess with your head. I know I'm not one to talk, I've taken a baby step on this massive journey that you've already taken, but I think you've done so amazingly well it's not funny!

You're so close to your goal that to me it seems natural your body is going to throw the odd fit, it's going to react well to some things and less well to others. Maybe mixing up everything you eat might help? Your exercise is amazing so I don't think there's much to do there :D

Some days we have 'fat' days and some days we have skinny days. Hate to label them like that but that's how it is, we feel fat and skinny :P over a few days I don't think they make much difference, but when you're having a bad day it can be a nightmare, but please remember it's not for always and you've done amazingly so far :D

That's my 2c from a total newbie that really has no idea what she's talking about scientifically but I've been there emotionally :P

Re my own weight loss, I'm weighing in tomorrow and am fully expecting to be up 1-2lb and after my weekend ill take that and be grateful :P

I'm there with ya! In fairness, 2.5 lbs that I thought I had gained have come off since Sunday. Turns out it was just TOM bloat combined with a few days of eating bread/pasta. That stuff needs to go! Every time I eat it I feel like my belly looks like an over-inflated balloon. So if it's bloat, then it's just that - not fat gained :)

What's that in terms of a percentage of you total calories?

ie. what's your macro breakdown ?

Oh sorry! I have the goals set at 40:30:30 p:c:f and that's what I aim for, but sometimes it's a little bit off that!

    Good macro's to have :)

If you find that you don't hit your carbs goal but go over on your fat then I wouldn't worry about it too much. I used to always eat turkey rashers but I'm going for the streaky bacon now. Makes me feel dirty :)

But it tastes so good :)

Thanks :) and to be fair a good part of my daily fat is my eggs and almonds, so at least it's good fat!

I find the turkey ones kinda rubbery.

I'm in the process of eliminating sugar but I'm struggling to find snacks to eat. I follow weight watchers and I've upped protein in my main meals. However I always come up 2/3 points short so looking for ideas for snacks other than fruit as fruit is already included. Also I should say now I can't eat nuts!

    Nuts

    Dark chocolate(70%+)
    Cheese
    Protein bar or drink

I've just realised I don't really snack anymore. That's all I can think of.

She can't eat nuts but I'm sure the above could be modified.

Raw carrot and houmous is a pretty tasty snack!

Thanks for the replies. I think I'll give dark chocolate and the carrots and hummus a go.

    Buy Salami slices.

Place on a greaseproof piece of paper.

    Place in microwave.

Blast for 45seconds or until crispy.

    Meat Crisps.

43lbs in 7 weeks is extraordinary.

Are you taking care of yourself properly? That's approximately a weekly deficit of 21,500 calories.

Considering that my weekly Calorie intake is approximately 15,000 calories, you can understand my worry.
