UK import so I'd do a serious history check first, given the mileage is so low.

Nearly 5 months tax with this yoke so unless it's a crate of sh1t on inspection the short NCT wouldn't worry me, manual though...

I thought the Aero just referred to a bodykit & wheels (and maybe some other small bits) - much like an M-Sport BMW? And the Aero HOT was the range topper with the extra boosted 2.3?

They do, but only 9-3s I think.

Yeah Aero is basically a trim level but can be called a separate model.
    Linear - basic
    Vector - sporty
Areo - all the goodies and more bhp

This one can be pushed up over 300 bhp apparently. 2200 euro. Will need NCT, just up.

    1100 euro Aero

They are a V6 IIRC, can't imagine it being all that economical tbh. :)

Different trim, suspension, brakes, valves, has little jets inside engine block to cool down pistons, different turbo (same as Subaru WRX and Evo), and different ECU

It depends what you consider economical, if someone asks for a car no bigger than 2.0 and auto I would think a 2.0 auto would be ok to suggest. They're hardly looking for a 50mpg motor.

The 2.0 Maxima is no worse than many 2.0 4 cylinders so in the spirit of what was requested I'd consider it relatively economical.

Recently you mentioned a 2.4 diesel alfa returning 41mpg on a Dublin to Kerry run wasn't too bad or something to that effect iirc :) Many would consider that not all that economical in comparison to other diesels ;)

He mentioned that auto was perferable. ;)

If he asked for economical would you not suggest a diesel within the bangernomics budget?

OP, I'd forget that Maxima and look at something like this

Long enough NCT, 2 months tax, economical, comfortable. Much better in every conceivable way than that Nissan. High 40's MPG and it's in Cork also. :)

And you claim to be a petrolhead :pac:

That Volvo is neither a saloon or a 5 door hatch either old boy.

I think you'll find that me being a petrolhead is totally irrelevant when advising on a car for another poster there young man. ;)

Also if you are trying to claim that in order to be a petrolhead you must like the Nissan Maxima then that's a tad ridiculous IMO. :)

Bit of a risk with short test but the seller seams down to earth (not described as mint etc) and the car looks clean :)

Not claiming that at all, however to say the diesel V40 is better than a Maxima in every conceivable way is looney talk for an alleged petrol head, but to be fair I'd never credit you with being a petrol head anyway so its not surprising you don't acknowledge/know of the award winning merits of the Maxima :)

If I wanted something comfy and economical for circa €2k Id have the Volvo over the Nissan any day of the week.

Once again me being a petrol head is irrelevant as I'm not the one buying, having said that twice now. ;)

It's nowhere near €2k because it has 6 weeks NCT. ;)

That Volvo is a class or two down from the maxima and cannot compete with it for comfort or refinement.
