Audi 80 Convertible. NCT July 13. Slight leak from the soft top according to the ad but maybe not a deal breaker. € 1,150

2005 Facelift Laguna Diesel with NCT 5/13 & Leather for € 1,550. I think most of the Laguna problems were sorted with the facelift? Not sure about possible diesel issues though...

    FSH apparently. Steel wheels

If they have followed the recommended t-belt interval this car has another 13-15K before belt needs changing again.

I'd def have a Alfa guy check this out first, even for 1200 (not a bargain, similar cars go for almost half that but then you may need to sort the belt yourself, not cheap)...

What think ye on this one, fellas? I'm reluctant to buy a diesel but its the only decent looking one close to home.

I've googled the number, and its brought up lots of cars for parts and nothing else for sale? Is this a bad thing?

I could be completely off the ball here but if anything were wrong with that Audi rear end suspension wise, bushings etc. I would imagine you would be left with a fairly heafty bill.

    Noted, thanks.

I'm scheduled to see it tomorrow at 12. Will update.

Can you tax a car that you bought with no NCT before it's tested? I have it booked in, but the soonest was the end of March and the wife has to go up North next weekend and I'm worried they could go to town on her for no tax/test.

If I can tax it now I will as it will be cheaper than paying back tax.

Yes you can tax it without an NCT cert.

    +1

Also, print out the NCT test booking and keep it in the car to show to the authorities if questioned why the car has not NCT ;)

Dunno why I always thought you needed an NCT. Probably so used to the authorities making other dumb rules that another one seemed natural!

Because you did need to have an NCT to tax the car about 10 years ago :)

And then there was an NCT strike, so people couldn't tax their cars and someone smart (for a change) in government decided this system was not good for cash flow, so they changed it :D

Picked up Alfa Romeo 147 Lusso the other day. Good brakes, good tyres, some tax and NCT, handles like a dream, getting "motor systems control failure" and engine is in limp mode. Scanned it. Turns out to be camshaft position sensor. Will see if I can rent the timing tools and do the job myself.
    Paid 450€

The requirement should have been re-instated when the strike ended, but it never was.... They should also verify the insurance policy before issuing the tax disk.

It means illiterate in my native language. I've been using the nickname since I discovered Internet. So I continued to do so when I migrated to Ireland.
I know. I should come up with a new one.
