So to summarise, Gery Adams is refusing to pay the (I presume) state owned bank money he owes it while at the same time he is in receipt of sufficient funds to do so from the public purse via his TD's salary but instead diverts the money to his party. I consider this theft of public money on the part of Sinn Féin. This is as bad as any Fianna Fáil stroke pulling-can anyone say the much-maligned Pee Flynn did anything worse?

Where did it say he is refusing to pay any bank any money? It says he is talking to a bank about rearranging a payment structure, which is well within his rights to do.

People will look for any reason in the world to have a go at others.

Get off your high horse there bosco.

It turns out that Mr Adams did not get any free accommodation in 2012 otherwise it would be declared here.

    http://www.sipo.gov.ie/en/PressReleases/Name,16040,en.htm

So he is managing the upkeep of three residences on a salary of about €40,000, not surprising then that this has caused him some financial difficulty.

    Amazing.
If he was in receipt of free accomodation, what is the position with Revenue and BIK?

Probably right. But Gerry managed to satisfy the authorities that he was entitled to be put on the electoral register in Louth so that he could vote for himself. I don't think that a UK citizen could gain this entitlement by just staying with friends in the Republic now and again. So he must have an interest in the property at his electoral register address in Co Louth.

I'm pretty sure Gerry would not class himself as a 'UK citizen'

As is his right with the whole self determination thing..... Ex-president Mary McAleese, you classed her as a 'UK citizen' I presume?

You knew that though, and I've stupidly rose to the bait.

Maybe his personal circumstances didn't allow him to pay it.

I did indeed...did I sling mud at the man?

    NO

Did I run him into the ground??

    NO

You decided to have a jab at him over his operation.....yet all the people that show you what wrong FG and Labour are doing and you seem to be in complete denial.

You defend Enda,Eamon,Micheal and Phil to the hilt and lord it down over everyone about the HHC and Property Tax and how great FG and Labour are.

Open your eyes man....Phil Hogan said he wasnt paying, because he wasnt happy with the service....and you dont see anything wrong in that and then him forcing hard pressed broke people to pay a HHC and property tax???

You are living in a bubble of complete denial there along with your bum chums Enda,Eamon,Micheal and Phil.

I wonder what you will say and what excuses you will come up with for all of them,if this Prom Note Deal/Farce is found to be illegal.

Ah but sure they all are saints in the world of FG and Labour..so are you.

Maybe Enda might let you lick his lolipop one day if you keep on pandering to him.

Sinn Féin TD's are paid the average industrial wage (or something to that effect) with the rest of the money going towards funding the party.

The manner in which Sinn Fein TDs spend their wages is irrelevant. They draw their full wages from the state. A Sinn Fein TD costs the state the same as every other TD. More, if you count the toner.

They are paid the full amount and they choose to donate some of their earnings to their favourite cause - their party.

People who buy into this nonsense are fools.

It's funny how the average man on an "average industrial wage" is unable to own 2 properties.

I also refuse to believe that Marty donates over 90 grand a year to the party in the north, being eligible for a 115,000 salary and only taking home 20? Ha!

Gerry told Marian , that he has no money , and is in trouble with the house in Donegal , and negotiating with the banks .

Marian then challenged him , as to how he could afford his recent health operations in the USA , and Gerry replied that his best friend paid all expenses for him .

Plenty of people on the average industrial wage (or less) own two properties, especially if they have inherited one of them.

Have you also considered Gerry Adams' wife's income?

Nope, but I refuse to believe that Adams suffers the same financial issues as anyone on a genuine industrial average wage.

Nor does any Sinn Fein politician.

But being able to call yourself "one of the people" must be lovely and all.

Well if you're point blankly refusing to accept it without any clear reason, nobody can prove that kind of thinking wrong.

The average industrial wage is about €36,000. It's hardly poverty.

A month ago when this was being discussed on other threads (the health issue) I kept reading a statement from Sinn Fein that Mr Adams had paid for it himself and only his flights were paid for by friends. Something doesn't add up.

    http://www.thestar.ie/star/gerry-adams-denies-hypocrisy-over-private-care/

A spokesman for the party confirmed his flights were funded by support network Friends of Sinn Fein and that Mr Adams paid for the surgery himself.
