Never seen that button light up neither on the S3, S3 Mini nor the Note 2.

It's worked for me on my s3 and the note 2

Got the flip case for note 2, came in post today. First impressions are good, doesn't add too much to the weight/size of phone.

Anyone know of a good app that will make the cover act like a smart cover? i.e. turn screen on when cover opened, turn screen off when it's closed? Preferably a non-paying app, and I don't have root...

Thats not a software feature. Thats usually set of by a magnet in the phone and the cover. You dont have either ;)

There might be an app that uses a proximity sensor?

I have seen that working the other day on a vodafone s3 mini. All of my phonea were open europe software. Maybe its carrier dependant. Either way it dowsnt really matter as you can hide apps in the launcher anyways

I get that it can't act as a smart cover properly, what I was looking for is an app that works by going with the proximity sensor and/or light sensor...

I'm not sure if this will work with your flip cover, but worth trying nonetheless

Settings > Motion > Quick glance

For those on Meteor stock, looks like the 4.1.2 update will be available within the next week or so.

Any one actually have a good explanation on how quick glance works? Ive messed around with proximity sensors and lifting it and it only seems to work random. Not entirely sure about the point of it either. It seems pressing the home button couls get you the same info possibly faster

I've definitely seen a post on that very topic here a few weeks ago. Can't find it at the moment though....

I'm pretty sure there's a way, with an app and leaving the screen lock off.

Intellicover... free from play store, uses proximity sensor. Works perfectly.

    Guys,

Does anyone know how to change the email address on your play store account without having to buy all the apps again?

I (stupidly) set up my play store account with ben@XXXX.com. XXXX.com is about to be terminated altogether (the domain will no longer exist, no email hosting etc) so I need to switch to ben@OOOO.com but I can't find a way to 'migrate' my play store account from ben@XXXX.com to ben@OOOO.com wihout basically deleting my whole account and having to set up from scratch.

I've 400 apps on my Note II many of which are paid for apps so I reckon, apart from the downright hassle, I'd have to re-purchase €300 or more worth of apps just to get back to where I am.

    Any ideas???

    Ben

    Sounds like you can: http://support.google.com/accounts/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=19870
If you don't use Gmail with your Google Account, you can change your account username to another email address at any time. Your username is the full email address you used to create your account.

This app is the bomb. One minor point for anyone who tries it, if you open app to set it up, and then press home key, whenever you re-open your flip cover it'll open the app back up. If you press back key when in app, this doesn't happen. (also doesn't happen if you select the option to open to home screen, but this is annoying for me if i'm in middle of an app).

I also recommend expanding the screen timeout time beyond the default of 0.5s, I was constantly turning screen off in error. :pac:

Got a replacement phone from vf insurance yesterday after my own wound up in a puddle of water. I'm amazed how much the battery had degraded in the time I had it. The new one is set up exactly the same and I'm still on 70%, my original would have been on half that by now.

I'm constantly amazed at the length of the battery life. For a phone with such a big screen it's amazing.

Has anyone with a VDI note 2 or any network locked note 2 updated their phone to the latest 4.1.2 update with another countries stock ROM? I want to but not 100% that it will work with carrier since the phone is locked.

I believe the update to 4.1.2 for Meteor is imminent, so perhaps you should hold off for the time being and see if it updates on your network in the next few weeks.

That's true. The replacement is also getting better signal in poor signal areas. Much happier so far!

In short, would everyone here highly recommend the Note 2? I'm looking to upgrade. I currently use a comp in work and then an iPhone. Doing any sort of work on an iPhone can be pretty annoying on such a small screen.

    Only worry is onlookers, ha.

Just to check, there aren't any rumblings of a Note 3 are there?

    What type of work?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,065 ✭✭✭shuffles03

Online marketing. I was thinking the Note 2's screen would be perfect.

Don't know about an imminent Note 3 but I'm 100% happy with the Note 2. I used to be a ROM flasher etc always trying to get better performance out of my Android phones but this is the first one I've owned which I haven't felt the urge to 'Tweak' in any way. It just does the business. Long battery life, great big screen, fast performance.

    Best phone I've ever had.

Vodafone seem to take a while to update their phones so I was just looking to put another stock ROM on it but worked it wouldn't work since the phone is locked.
