PC has been bluescreening for 2 weeks now with google chrome constantly crashing as well as any other browser

Tried reinstalling windows 7 twice and using the original drivers
    Tried using a different monitor
    Have updated all my drivers
Tried taking out my graphics card

Ran a memory test which detected hardware problems so will work on that tomorrow
    Need to clean the hardware

    Any further suggestions?

    CPU temps ok?

Not exactly off-topic, but not exactly deserving of it's own thread... Where do you guys pick up compressed air for cleaning dust etc. Online or offline (dublin area)

Approximately 45- 50 which I think is a bit high but had the PC for a year and a half now with no problems.

I was in dealz (henry street) and had a good look around the computing/IT section and I could not find any around. I had to end up buying a can in peats which was €11

Was using MSE but the new version of AVG is really good. Have all features on in AVG and nothing on in Windows.

New AVG also has a PC optimizer

Go with avast. It's by far the best free AV. I wouldn't trust avg. It didn't stop spyware in the past. I haven't had a single infection in 5 years of avast use.

    Quick question Re HDD speeds.
Looking at a cheap case so the question is this:
What would be faster, a internal HDD like this
Or if I got a case with USB 3, an external HDD with usb3?

    Thanks in advance

The sata interface is capable of more than usb but it won't matter on mechanical drives from sata 2-3 compared to usb-3.

Larger discs have faster read/writes than smaller ones.

This 2TB drive is only €20 more and would have faster transfer speeds.

18th of this month for the Titan launch ! I'm actually underwhelmed considering the (reported) price though, if what people are saying is true, one card will run you $1600, thats triple 680/7970 money plus the PSU to run them.

Just ran the numbers : 1600 AUD, so around 1230 euro. Hope this is a rumor thats busted though, thats crazy money for a single GPU card

Thanks for that. Could you explain why as They both look the same to my uneducated eyes. Same interface, data transfare rate ect.
If it is a long complicated thing to explain, please point me in the direction of some reading. I am not lazy when it comes to learning this stuff.

USb 3.0 and sata 3 aka sata 600 have pretty much the same transfer rates so you are right on that one. Sata performs better than usb in most situations however as it supports Native Command Queueing (NCQ) and has it's own controller where as USB is host controlled putting more of the work on the cpu.

Mechanical hard drives can get nowhere near these potential transfer speeds though. You would have to get a good sata 3 ssd to make use of that bandwidth.

There isn't a whole in it though. If you really need the drive to be portable go with USB.

You can't convert numbers directly like that. That's like saying a $500 GTX 680 would cost €370, which isn't the case at all. Australia tends to be more expensive than the US. I'm still holding out for an $899 price-tag. Based on the 690 pricing, that would equate to about €800 here.

There is this, yes, but there are also other things to consider, like VAT. Indeed, many online US computer parts' retailers rely on the customer to pay tax on their purchases, something that doesn't happen all the time, an is a lot lower than the EU in cases where they do.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,979 ✭✭✭Tea_Bag

whats the problem with price? its GTX690 speeds on a single GPU, presumably running cooler and OC higher too. its going to be around the same price.

Apparently its cheaper to fly to the US, purchase CS6 and fly back to oz than it is to buy CS6 there.

Y'all will like this though, (US/EU free trade agreement talks)
