I watched a great documentary on this topic a few days ago which followed a plastic surgeon from England who traveled to Pakistan to treat women who had been disfigured in these attacks.

    http://www.channel4.com/programmes/saving-face/4od

Would absolutely recommend watching it if you have the time.

But the case you opened the thread with does not have any obvious link to Islam.
Nobody's denying acid attacks are prevalent among Islamic fundamentalists though.

Beating your wife in Islam is haram. You can beat your wife once you cause no damage to her skin including any scratches, bruising, raising of the skin, swelling or markings. You can't beat her in any sensitive areas, this includes the face, head or any female genetalia including the titties.Never with a closed fist or object.

Id give a medal to anyone who could beat someone without doing the above.Throwing acid at someone rules out almost all of the above. Therefore it is not Islamic, nor is it related to Islam. It is related to backward, crazy people who happen to be muslim.

No one is saying its not common or even more common in Countries that follow Islam, its just not unique to such countries example http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-latin-america-18246717

The real issue is its majority crimes against women and majority of countries are poor.

For each report you quote of an attack in a Muslim country I can find reports of non Muslim attacks.

Nobody actually said that. What they did say - quite correctly - was that the article you posted bore no indication whatsoever that it had anything to do with muslims.

Seeing as you're getting your info from here though

its safe to say that there was a huge big sectarian agenda from the get go.

That's the same surgeon who treated Katie Piper after her acid attack. I read her book, it was very good.

From this report the victim was a Polish male, attacker was male. Large Muslim community in Poland. http://www.thejournal.ie/acid-attack-hollystown-dublin-782588-Feb2013/

Theres nothing whatsoever in that article to suggest either culture or religion had anything to do with it.

We know but some people like to jump to ridiculous conclusions!

It was so much easier to blame it on Them. It was bleakly depressing to think that They were Us. If it was Them, then nothing was anyone's fault. If it was us, what did that make Me? After all, I'm one of Us. I must be. I've certainly never thought of myself as one of Them. No one ever thinks of themselves as one of Them. We're always one of Us. It's Them that do the bad things.

Common in some muslim countries, and even muslim communities in London - these are absolutely horrific (Just do a quick google search for the effects) and I hope they don't start becoming common over here. The perpetrators should be locked up for a very long time.

Going on your username it's not hard to see why you've got a thing about Muslims. :D

Wonder where these scumbags got the idea from? did'nt the well admired Nig in Love/Hate threaten to do this to a woman to ensure her silence.
That was the series that glamourised scumbags and Irish people bought into it in a similar way they bought into the property bubble.

Acid attacks went on long before Love/hate hit our screens. People may have found Nidge funny on many occasions but no normal person would condone an acid attack. I would doubt they needed love/hate to get the idea. Remember Love/hate is art depicting life not the other way around

This is a horrible crime and shouldnt have ethnicity brought into the equation , whoever did this is sick and should be locked up , but in this country will probably do feck all time because the judicial system here is on the side of the criminal needs serious reform our country is a joke. So much so that there are scumbags out there that have the balls to shoot a member of the law how many more crimes are us as the public meant to put up with before someone realises we need reform. I thought our law professionals and leaders in this country were "educated"..?It doesnt take a genius to realises we need to be harder on criminals to make these bastards think twice before commiting any crime!!

I do know there has been massive outrage in India over that gang rape.
I think you're tarring everyone with dark skin as being Muslim.Im fairly certain there were no Muslims involved in that attack.

The **** have Muslims gotta do with it. Clearly a scumbag attack.

Maybe it was a muslim scumbag who did this, maybe not.

    But a scumbag nonetheless.

It's actually the most vicious hateful thing you could do to someone, Im not sure I believe it was anything to do with Muslims, these attacks have gotten more coverage in the media recently so it was only a matter of time before sick b@stards became more creative and started to do it.

I wouldn't be paying any attention to what that rag said, they don't even have the area it happened in correct.

Asain eh? Time to put out an APB on anyone looking chineesey-siberian-indiany-turkic-indonesianey. That should narrow it down, or has "asian" become a euphasim for someone else?

    ALLEGEDLY Asian

They quote the victims housemate, nothing alleged about it unless the witness is a liar.

But yet manage to get the area completely wrong, even though in their stories yesterday they had a specific area named.
