So far 9 burned women and 4 children have been transferred to Lahore for further medical treatment. All of them have been injured by throwing acid on them. Local police have arrived on the scene but the situation is out of control as thousands of Muslims have gathered for this purpose.

Acid attack on Afghan schoolgirls
Attackers in Afghanistan have sprayed acid in the faces of at least 15 girls near a school in Kandahar, police say. They say the attack happened shortly before at least six people were killed in a bomb blast near a government building in the city.Doctors say the six girls were wearing Islamic burkas or veils which provided them with some protection. The teenager talked, with difficulty, of how his life had been destroyed since the fateful day in June 2002 when he refused to have sex with his teacher at a religious school in Pakistan. The boy was horrifically injured in an acid attack after he rebuffed the Muslim cleric's sexual advances. Now, he has alarmed Pakistan's powerful religious establishment by pressing charges against his alleged assailants. A teacher at the school, who cannot be named for legal reasons, and two of his friends are in prison awaiting trial for attempted murder and rape. All three deny the charges. A fourth alleged attacker is still at large. It is the first such case to be brought against a Muslim cleric and threatens to expose a scandal of sex abuse within Pakistan's secretive Islamic schools. Abid was blinded and maimed in the assault, which he says came shortly after he rejected sexual demands from the Islamic teacher at a madrassa in a crowded, lower middle-class district of Karachi. "He threatened to ruin me for life," Abid recalled, "but I didn't take him seriously. Pakistan: Acid thrown over women in ‘blasphemy’ attack on village
An angry mob petrol-bombed homes and threw acid over Christian women, after mosque loudspeakers accused the Christians of blasphemy. The attack took place on 30 June at Bahmani village in the district of Kasur, in Punjab. Partners of Release International, which serves persecuted Christians, say a mob looted and burned the houses of Christians. Lawyers told Release International that one of the victims of the acid attack was Noreen, a young teenage girl. DHAKA (AFP) – At first glance, Bably Akter looks like any other nine-year-old Bangladeshi girl, dressed in a brightly coloured pink and turquoise skirt and top trimmed with silver sequins. A matching headband conceals her left ear, badly deformed and the only obvious sign she is the victim of an acid attack, a practice rampant in the impoverished country, used mainly in domestic disputes and against women and children. As her mother, Parul, recounts the story of how Bably’s father put drops of acid on different parts of her body every day for five days when she was a baby, the little girl lifts her skirt to reveal a large scar on her legs and feet.

“Her father wanted a son. He’d been violent towards me before Bably was born but it was not until day five, when he actually fed her acid I realised something was seriously wrong,” Parul, 26, said.

Islam in action - Acid attacks on women
We hear this often - acid attacks on women in Islamic societies. It happens in Pakistan, Bangladesh, Kashmir, Sudan etc. - the only thing common to these places is they are Islamic societies in the grip of fundamentalist Islamists (i.e., practising Muslims). The problem is this - Islam simply does not regard women are fully human. They are property, and a man can do anything to property. This is reflected by the terrible state of women throughout Islam. I have always stated clearly that women are the primary reason why it is unethical to keep quiet about Islam. Islam dehumanizes women. And the world keeps silent. A Muslim man is in a critical condition in hospital after having acid poured down his throat in an "honour attack" for having a relationship with a married woman. Police have warned the woman, also a Muslim, that her life is now in danger and are discussing how best to protect her. The 24-year-old man was attacked with sulphuric acid and stabbed by four men. He was blinded in one eye, suffered severe injuries to his tongue and throat and suffered 50 per cent burns. He was also stabbed twice in the back and attacked with bricks leaving him with fractures to his face. The Danish man, who is of Asian origin, is said to have "insulted" a woman's religious family by becoming close to her, although she has denied to officers that the relationship was sexual. He was attacked at about 2am on July 2 in Marchant Road, Leytonstone, east London, close to a bedsit in Mayville Road he had rented a few weeks earlier to be near the woman. One witness who saw the attack from her window said: "I saw four men lashing out and kicking him on the ground. I shouted and they ran off, then one went back and started on him again.
