Anyone else still waiting on SUSI Grant?

Hi folks. Just wondering if anyone else waiting for their SUSI grant have had an excuse of your application being sent to "head office" for approval? The application was originally sent off in July by/for my daughter and after numerous requests for additional documentation, an email was received in November that said it was provisionally accepted and they requested the FCA form which was sent off the day after. Then no further correspondence until after Xmas, when we rung them and they said it was being processed and a decision was pending.

Then the following week we rang again and they told us it had been sent to HQ for approval due to a problem and would be another week or so, but they couldnt give us a reason why and would'nt allow us to speak to HQ!! Then this week, same reason except its now another 3 or 4 week delay, and despite them not knowing what the reason is, the helpline guy informed us it was only a small problem, so infact either does know or was just making up as he went!!!

They make it all sound so trivial, but the fact is we have bent over backwards financially to try and keep my dtr in college, and last thing i ever want to do is tell her she will have to leave, but that day looms if they don't get their finger out, its as though they think we are all on TD's salaries and perks, talking of which i wonder if any of their children have had their grants delayed, or maybe they have just used stroke politics on that too.....

Ask your local td to intervene. A lit of the grant recipients here have gound out this speeds up the process

It was so much easier to blame it on Them. It was bleakly depressing to think that They were Us. If it was Them, then nothing was anyone's fault. If it was us, what did that make Me? After all, I'm one of Us. I must be. I've certainly never thought of myself as one of Them. No one ever thinks of themselves as one of Them. We're always one of Us. It's Them that do the bad things.

After SUSI losing all my son's documentation I scanned all of the documents required( 13 items!) and emailed them off from my own email address with his application number as reference. Big mistake-as when I rang for update they told me the email had to come from the email account that my son used in the original application! We tried sending it from his email address but we got an "undeliverable" message that the file is too big. Techied older son says it's not a problem at our end.
I despair I really do. Thanks God he lives at home otherwise he'd have dropped out by now. The whole thing is a farce.

Is there any way to contact SUSI directly? I don't appear to fall into any of their student categories so I don't know how I'm supposed to complete the application form. Bit of a pain since applications apparently close in 4 hours.

What year are you applying for? 2012-2013 or 2013-2014. Cos if its the 2014 its not open yet. Otherwise their number is 0761 08 7874

    my goodness.

-applied on the first day of applications this year (early June or whenever it was)
-rang in September to see how the application was doing, was told over the phone i was declined and my documents would be sent back
-2nd week of October i rang to see why my documents hadn't been returned, at which time i was told my application hadn't even been reviewed never mind declined
-roughly the start of November, i was sent the final course acceptance form to get filled in, which i did and returned A.S.A.P.
-probably called once every 2 to 3 weeks from then on just to keep things going

After the Christmas break the college started getting a bit pushy for the reg fees, so i started to ring S.U.S.I. more often, being told "its being asesed at the moment"

-the week of the 14th of January i rang every day being told its "being assessed at the moment", now i know i sent a lot of paperwork but its been being assessed since October i says. Now on the 18th it was "sent to management" for to be checked immediately and i was assured an answer in under a week.
-the week of the 21st arrives and still nothing so i rang again that day and was once again assured "an answer by the end of the week"
-another week passes and the week starting the 28th i have taken to calling 2-3 times a day and also contacted my local TD during the week. and all week i'm being told "management have it and it being assessed"

-Today, hallef**kingleulah! got through to a man who said it had been checked and i should have a letter in the post. the very second he said "post" my credit went and the call cut >:( so i called back, just to see could they tell me what that answer was and the person i got when i called back says "i don't know what the first person was talking about because its still being assessed"!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

does anybody up there know what they are doing? what is the ****ing story like? i don't have the money for the reg fees, fortunately i have enough to scrape by on living costs but i cant get the fees together! all i want is a yes or no. what does a well organised person have to do to get a response from this farce?

Toyotafanboi - ask your TD and/or Students Union to intervene

My new favourite word = hallef**kingleulah! Hopefully you'll be sorted out soon. The College shouldn't be hassling you, as they are well aware of the situation. Ask them to back off (politely).

    Hi
i have started a diploma course full time level 7, got refused and appeal refused on the grounds it is not a full time course and not a level 7, which it clearly states on hte ucc website it is. have now appealed to the external section. Funny thing is 4 others in my class have been approved and have started getting monthly payments. have my td on the case now also but this is going on since July 2012

not hassling, that may have been a bit too strong a word. but (understandably) they want it, and i'd rather not be in their debt if possible.

I am currently appealing my grant got refusal letter 14th January went to my Students union who gave me details of an email so I sent that of still heard nothing. I didnt send the appeal by post as the SU told me not to. I now have one week left, starting to panic, have fees office emailing me for money. What happens if I am refused again and cannot afford fees, does the college expect me to pay cos I am so far into the year and can't drop out?

Received payments this morning at long last but only got 3 payments. Have only missed I day since September so couldn't be attendance. Anyone else receive payments at different stages. They can't tell you anything about payments over the phone and studentpayments@cdvec don't reply to emails. Help thanks!

Latest from the comedy that is SUSI. We got a letter yesterday saying we hadn't dend 4 or 5 random documents.ie son's birth cert and Leaving Cert results and a few other thing. WE DID- back in October. I scanned and emailed (last Sunday 3rd) everything we had originally been asked for under my sons application number. Rep on the phone said something about having them but they were too faded to read!!!!!!! I have the email here- they are perfectly legible. In the end I lost patience and said that I had sent them everything they asked for, and all I was short of sending was my shoe size and family treee.
    They are looking into it.

So rang susi again to find out why I only got 3 payments this morning instead of the 4 I was due and was told that I had received payment for Nov Dec and Jan but that I won't get Oct payment until the end. WTF! Anyone else had this problem. Was told last week on the phone that I would get 4 payments together.

Just a heads up that the next payment date is this coming Friday according to some college websites which have been correct with dates all through the year so far.

They told me they'd bin my application by the 21st unless I send them a document which I had no idea they wanted and couldn't possibly have possessed (income thing for a job I quit). It was well over a month since I last heard from them by their own accord, so I rang them myself and found out they want things from you that they dont inform you of.

So for anyone who hasn't heard back from Susi in a while, I'd suggest ringing the turds and inquiring for yourself. They're probably not going to tell you what they want and blame you when the situation arises that you don't get paid.
