The details are on this page about half way down. I was with a friend of mine earlier this evening who's ordering the same set up. The only thing that's missing is the cat5 cables. One comes with the camera but you need another two if your getting the nanostations.

Funny it's page 3 on the normal website but page 4 on the mobile site.

    Hi Just do it,

I've just finished setting up a calving camera using a foscam, tp-link router and a 3 dongle.
One of the lads have seen it and now wants a calving camera them selves but their shed is close to the house (300m), so I'm thinking of using nanostations.

It should be a simpler set up, reading about it here.

    My intended plan is

a foscam camera connected to a nanostation at the shed (via cat5 or can this be done wirelessly?)

then another nanostation receiver at the house connected to the router (again cat5 or wirelessly?).

Also with the nanostations i have an option of plugging them in or running them with power over eternet right?

Have i got it right as to how the pieces connect?

I've just taken delivery of a couple of NanoStation Loco M2 and the only option is Power Over ethernet. These ones aren't for a camera setup but if it works well I'll be buying a third one and an IP camera for the shed. I will be setting them up tomorrow so will know a little more by then if there are more questions.

Quick update, nano stations setup and working perfectly with no loss of speed. Set up was pretty easy, there is a youtube video that makes it extremely easy to install and configure - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=__xzHnK6IVs&list=UUCLpYbF6epWOUuJurR8INWA&index=19
I've just ordered another nano for the cowshed and a foscam camera, hopefully they arrive before the weekend.

They have Power-over-Ethernet - it just means there is only one cable going up to the device on the roof. ( see pic attached)

The other yokes are Ethernet-Over-PowerLine - they send the data from the camera over the mains wiring.

No, but you need to be able to plug it in at the shed.

Are you using these one's for broadband access at the remote site? I got a third one at the time but just haven't gotten around to setting it up.

Yes, the first set are for broadband access. No loss of speed, at least thats according to speedtest.

I have it set up in the other house and it is communicating with the base unit alright. However when I turn on wifi on the laptop or smartphone beside it they don't pick up the network for some reason. I'll have to investigate. That youtube clip is useful alright, that's the one I used to set them up.

how far are they transmitting for you?

The distance is short - approximately 100 yards. It has line of sight but both nanos are setup behind windows (1 single glazed, 1 double glazed) with 100% signal, there are light indicators on the back of the nano to show the signal strength.

Guys, how long is the Ethernet Cat5 cable that comes with these Foscam cameras (FI8910W)?
Also, does any Ethernet cable come with the Ubiquiti nanostations (Loco M2)?

dont think any cablecomes with nanos, not sure about camera but prob not either, you can buy cables online or make up your own if you need long ones

    Van,
I've seen the video on youtube of the unpackaing of the camera box. A cable is included. Just wondering will it be long enough, in the shed.
I was thinking too, of making the camera easy to remove so I can take it down when not used. It might extend the life a bit. Calving will only be for a few weeks after all. It's the indoor FI8910W model.

Hi all, finally got my set-up up and running...thanks Vander especially..2 nano stations, switch/hub, 2 foscam cameras..all running ok, but i seriously doubtI'd ever get it to work without the help of a computer-savvy chum...theres a LOT of configuring and messing about to get everything to work in harmony, and ours was fairly easy yard in terms of line of sight...i wonder how well the cameras will stick the pace being sited in a draughty shed...reckon i'll take em down when not needed, reckon theyre not up to a hard life..price of all the gear was around €600 so a big saving over having the pros come in...it ain't straightforward tho...

still good to get it sorted yourself with your pal, you saved yourself a fair bill there, even if the cameras dont last you have your link now and can always stick in a different camera

And if it breaks down, you might be able to fix it yourself, instead of paying for call-out charges and extras.

One with the camera about 1-2m long. None with the nanostations. Need to change the plugs on the nanostation leads as well, although that probably depends who you buy them off. There appears to be only one or two main sellers on ebay.

Good idea, I hadn't thought of that

ya i mount my cameras to a little square of ply wood and just screw the ply onto the timber in the roof of shed using drill, makes it a bit handier to take down as you only need unscrew ply

Nano's do not come with any network cables.

I'm still waiting on FOSCAM delivery from ebay. Usual ebay trick where its advertised as shipping from UK but when you order and pay, seller advises that the item is out of stock at the UK depot and they will ship from Hong Kong.
    If/when it arrives :
How high should it be mounted to cover 2 pens - both 16ft x 13ft approximately.
Can anyone recommend a good setup video on youtube ?

    Thanks.

Is there a need to change the plugs ? I push down the earth receiver in the socket and plugged in the 2 pin plug. Is there a good reason to change to a 3 pin plug ?

Where did you put the nanostation on the shed side Just_do_it?

I mean - if it has an electrical lead coming out of it, you can hardly mount it outside can you?

Fair enough, I just hate fiddling with things so I changed the plugs when I got them.

The only cable coming out of the nanostation is the cat 5 ethernet cable. This is designed to come out the bottom of the nanostation. I've the shed nanostation outside the shed on a down pipe and the cable runs through the sheeting into the shed. Therefore all electrics are inside.

Right lads need a bit of help here, I have got the camera(and set it up on my laptop in the room last week and was able to view it on my mobile too). Got around to putting up the nano stations and camera in shed this evening and power into both of them(lights on). Then I followed the guidelines on http://dl.ubnt.com/docs/M_Series_Beginner_Guide.pdf, Maybe I was wrong but I typed everything that was said on it up to the end of page 7. Then it tells me on page 8 to type in http:/192.168.10.20 into address bar I get 'this web page is unavailable. Ideas please??
