    Score noted............:D

88 is good shooting down there Freemount!! WHen are we playing again or do you find it too hard to play with a hard hat on in fear of my driving????

Thats why I never posted in the How did you score threads before incase the handicap secs would be on the lookout ! Going to try it this year though and could be good to look back ! Was happy enough alright with the ball striking, so looking forward to summer golf !!

Let me know whenever suits you, we could sort out a sneaky half day or something ? It wouldn't be your driving that I'd be worried about but being able to concentrate playing with an actual moderator ! G'sus the pressure !! :D

Haha, brilliant! Well the evenings are getting a little longer and I have a finish time of 3.15 on Fridays so maybe we could meet up in a few weeks even for 9 holes and stretch it out then!!! I will give ya a text or something anyway!!

Did a Van de Velde on Sat

Standing on 18th with 27pts for 11 holes (12 hole comp) block drive into trees see it land but takes ages to find. Have terrible lie but actually hit it out really well (too Well) goes to far side of other fairway. About 170ms to river in front of green and crap- have to hang around 5 mins as had to let group behind through. In this time change club for approach down a club as had mi**** that club earlier- hit it perfect thinking will nice lay up- partner see it take real hard bounce (everything was plugging all day). End up just before bridge have a shot over wall below branch- had same shot last week take same club think I hit perfect but just hits bottom of branch lands just before river but behind markers so can't place. Just about get over chip to 15 feet sink putt for 7 and blank
28pts wins comp 27[ts places but lose out on back 6- kicking myself all w/end :o

Last couple of rounds have been saved by the short game. 36pts 33pts and 33pts. Need to get the irons going missing too many greens.

87 shots around Blarney for 34 points with two dirty scratches thrown in there !

Wasn't happy with alot of my shots and was surprised I had scored so many as I had done.

Course was in good nick, a tad sad to see the whole place so quiet, clubhouse closed - saved me a few bob buying the bandit I was out with his victory coffee ! :D

Your on a right week of golf! Was all the course open? Clubhouse is closed at the moment just for winter but will be opening again soon enough. Comps are full at the weekends.

90 shots for 38 points in Blarney yesterday with 2 scratches thrown in for good measure.
Hit most of the fairways which was always my Achilles heel.
Beat my playing partner who took it badly-he slammed the car door and tore off out the gate in a cloud of daysul schmoke afterwards. Enjoyed that.

We need to introduce a bandit corner like I see in another forum for people who score well and/or win prizes!

Yea all the course was open and in good nick except for the 4th 'green' which was just a flag stuck in the fairway ! But apart from that couldn't fault the condition in fairness. Yea i know its midweek in January, but comming down the 18th seeing all the empty holiday homes, and big hotel with no lights on and driving out past the gym with nobody in there I just felt it was abit of a pity.

It'd be perfect for a big boards outing ! Surely we could get a few of the houses and a couple of rounds at a good price !

    82 off 15 h/c around Headfort Old.

    1 bird
    8 pars
    7 bogeys
    2 doubles

First full round of the year and it's my best in 2 years!

    Gross 82 (+11)

    9 Pars
    7 Bogey's
    2 Double Bogey's

Hit 6 straight pars on front 9 followed by the double bogey's. Annoyed me so much that I let it get to me & only had 2 pars on back 9.

76 gross, 35pts nett off 3 around Portmarnock Links today in Open competition.
Absolutely beautiful out there today but was positively fuming walking off 18 today

Putted really destroyed me today; outside of a 25 footer for an unlikely 3 on the 2nd, it was really shambolic stuff on the greens, which was a shame because it was the best I've driven the ball for some time. I missed from 3 feet for par at the first, from 8 feet at 3, from 3 feet on 6, 3 putted off the side of the 8th then lipped out for birdie on 11.

Despite all of that, the worst was yet to come. I drilled 2 shots into the middle of the par 5 13th only to 3 putt from 30 feet for par. I was still level par at that stage so wasn't losing the rag just yet, and a lovely gap wedge into the short par 4 14th to 2 and a half feet looked as if it might finally yield the day's fourth birdie. Didn't even touch the hole :(

It was at about this point than the fourball ahead of us finally decided to let us play through after holding us (a threeball) up all day. That was frustrating because they were nowhere near the group ahead of them and they'd actually let a 2 ball play through on only the 4th hole. For whatever reason, they did not extend us the same invitation until the 15th tee and for another unknown reason, the offer seemed to have an adverse effect on my scoring. I nailed a 3 wood down the fairway, hit a decent 9 iron to about 18 feet then 3 putted. Again. Smoked another drive down 16, leaving myself only a pitching wedge, but left that well short of the hole, a good 30 feet. Actually managed to 2 putt that one, but made up for it on 17, where a decent 7 iron was followed by yet another 3 putt. At my wit's end down 18, but still managed to hit another good tee shot. Tried to muscle a gap wedge in, but hit a poor shot unfortunately, short and in the sand. Left the first one in, got the next one out and ended the day with a demoralising miss from 5 feet for a bogey 5.

I was desperately trying to get cut today and since Portmarnock is probably one of the very few courses that is currently hosting counting events, it was bitterly disappointing to throw away the chance to even lose a measly .1. As usual, there were positives to the day but they're not what I'll remember. Extremely frustrated at how slow it was through 14, then angry at myself for feeling like I probably rushed the last 4 holes to justify the call-through. Really hoping to pace myself a lot better the next time, because I can't putt any worse, that's for sure.

That shouldn't be a problem if you keep scoring that well.

76 gross, 35pts nett off 3 around Portmarnock Links today in Open competition.

At least your ball striking was savage :)

Played 15 holes in Athlone myself, level par, playing off 5, 33 points.
    2 birdies
    11 pars
    2 bogeys

ball striking was fantastic, but just couldnt make the putts. Hit 12 greens out of 15, 11 fairways out of 12

Could have been so much better though - had 8 other putts for birdie within 15 feet and missed them all. The two I got were only because on the 4th I pitched from 40 yards into 6 inches and the 12th where I had a snaking putt across the green and really I was lucky to get it ;)

Still great to strike it so good

Drove it well but irons can still improve a lot if I'm being honest, so ball-striking yesterday was only average overall. Everything was just overshadowed by my putting yesterday. Sounds like your own game is in order anyway, keep it up!

    75 strokes today

    8 pars
    3 birdies
    7 bogey's

Drove the ball much better & only one 3 putt where a rush of blood to the head caused me to race it past. Short game good but again a couple of loose shots with wedge cost me bogey's.

Overall very happy with my game & feel I'm on the crest of a wave..... Only a matter of time to when I hit the elusive level par round.

My 2nd round of 2013. Played the first round of the winter league in Ballykisteen. It's only a 13 hole competition and had 29 points for the 13. The less said about our team score the better though!

We decided to keep going and play the full 18. Finished with 39 points for the 18 holes, 18 on the front, 21 on the back. Greens were seriously fast - I think they were faster today than they were at any point last year! Great credit due to the groundsman.

Hole 1, Par 4, scratch (out of bounds on the left).
    Hole 2, Par 4, double bogey ( 3 putt)
    Hole 3, Par 3, birdie :D
    Hole 4, Par 5, bogey
Hole 5, Par 4, bogey (3 putt after 2nd horseshoes out of the hole)
    Hole 6, Par 5, bogey
    Hole 7, Par 4, par
    Hole 8, Par 4, par
Hole 9, Par 3, double bogey
    Hole 10, Par 4, bogey (3 putt)
    Hole 11, Par 4 index 1, par
    Hole 12, Par 5, par
    Hole 13, Par 3, bogey
Hole 14, Par 4, double bogey
    Hole 15, par 3, par
    Hole 16, Par 4, par
Hole 17, Par 4, double bogey (approach shot found the water)
    Hole 18, Par 5, bogey
