Just played some of the Crysis 3 demo there. I'm hoping new drivers, and some updates will help because I was only getting 20-30FPS :( Or a second 680, that too :o

Edit : Beta drivers just went up, mainly for Crysis but theres some improvements in Batman AC, Borderlands 2 and Assassins Creed 3 among others

Guys, why is there no PC Gaming forum yet? Shall we make a request for it?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,710 ✭✭✭Monotype

Sure the main forum is fine. Seems like there's plenty of PC gamers there and I don't think the segregation of platform would really achieve much more. Games forum for talking about the games and here if you want to talk about the hardware. There's not really much else to say except related software.

Was a big (and somewhat controversial) effort a while ago to move all the game related chat back to the main games forum from the Xbox and ps3 forums because of fragmentation, so i'm not sure its really a runner at this point.

The upgrade versions are €30 or something if you buy directly from Microsoft with their upgrade software check. I think it's an introductory offer, but AFAIK, it expires soon.

I personally think that sub forums are shiet. I don't bother with them, most of the time I am even forgetting about them. Good example is SC, BF3 or minecraft forums. When those were in main games forum those were bumped up now and then and you would go check out what's new. I am just to lazy to go in to subforum. Most of the time that are dead too,

We are PC master race, we are modest folk! ;) we don't need special forum!

Probably its not so bad anyway because with Windows 8 MS have changed the EULA and you can now transfer a system builder license to a different PC that you own. So in effect it is pretty much the same as a window 7 retail version because it is not locked down to the first PC you install it on forever.

With a 680? What res are you playing at? I'm playing at 1920x1200 everything at very high/0aa/16af and it's running pretty well on an overclocked 570.

Do you have to do that process on the PC you want to upgrade or could you do it on your laptop and use the key you receive to upgrade your desktop?

Lads We have a Gateway Windows 98 computer sitting at home and hasn't been used for years(obviously!)

Would I be right in thinking that we should just dump it? If ANY component of it could be salvaged then I have no problem giving it to someone.:)

That battle is damn mad. Though that is not the first or last time such battle start after such a feck up :D.

The way they count value in eu is simple. Eve has a brilliant subscription system. There is an in game item, which is called PLEX. Plex is pilot license for 30 days. In other words 30 day sub. So people who have real money can buy these places and sell them in game for in game currency. The players who have a lot of in game money can pay for their sub with in game money. So both sides win.
For example 1 plex costs around 600mil these days. So the amount of isk lost in those battles was just converted in plex value to show how much real life money was lost.
I love eve. I got 2 accounts. I pay for one account and second account I just plex up. Some people have their economy made out so they can plex around 5 accounts and don't pay a penny.

If it still works, definitely of use to someone!

sorry just seen this now. you can do it on any PC as the product key is just emailed to you.

for anyone interested in that Eve battle, there is an excellent thread about it on reddit.

    www.reddit.com/r/Games/comments/17ebak/eve_online_how_exactly_a_war_can_cost_multiple/c84qb54

$17k worth of real life money in that battle was destroyed. pocket change to some of the bigger players apparently.

I don't play it, but I read the whole thing just cause of how fascinating it all is.

    another fascinating "incident"

    www.m.computerandvideogames.com/180867/features/murder-incorporated/

I'm scared that my college would go down the drain if I played it.

Yes but I was saying I have everything maxed out except AA, and it runs fine on my GTX570 (it is overclocked) - so if you've a 680, it should absolutely decimate my 570's performance. Just when you made reference to it not running so well....

Its the MSAA thats hurting the frame rate, I'll try with it off and report back !

Edit : With MSAA off, I get 70-90 FPS

Bit late, but the fights like that are actually supposed to be mad boring despite how amazing they sound, especially to people who don't play EVE.

In large battles like that, it's basically listen to your FC and shoot who he tells you to shoot until the battle is over.

I agree, although the small fleets I've been on didn't always end well ;)
