Actually giving it a bit more thought walkers are a lot blander tasting nowadays and chocolate isn't nearly as nice.

I'd say it has a lot to do with no more artificial colours, flavours and sweeteners. They were poison, but fuk it, they made shíte taste good.
Cadbury's chocolate, way less cocoa, way more sugar. Crap sickly sugary stuff. For decent chocolate you gotta go to Lidl or Aldi, no kidding.

Rashers.. without sounding like an old fart (well i am in my 40's) but ye used be able to slap them on the pan without any lard/oil and they would fry in their own fat perfectly, now ye put them on and a watery salty foamy pish comes out of them that ye have to drain off before they will fry.. and no bacony taste of them!!
Yup it's the fat that makes them tasty. People want leaner meat so the shops are full of that shite. I'm all for healthy eating but it's easy to go overboard. People forget the key is moderation. A nice couple of rashers with a bit of fat on em won't kill ya if you don't eat them every day.

Budweiser tastes horrible. I used to like it and I know people always say it tastes like piss, but I had one a few days ago and... yecch. (This may have soemthing to do with four years in Germany)

+1 And I thought it was just me!

Pork products are usually pumped full of additives to retain water and mass. That's why there's often a rainbow sheen on them. Not good stuff tbh.

Were the ones back in the day sam spudz or mr. perri?

Sam Spudz, Mr. Perri made the onion rings that had a really strong cheesy flavor, but now just taste like styrofoam :(

I was watching Heston Bluementhal's Fantastical Food on channel 4 there recently and he was making sours sweets. He used some ridiculous combination of flavors to make the most sour sweet possible, the reactions weren't unlike the recent chilli powder videos that have been doing the rounds lately! :D

But they did tests with babies where he offered them a lemon slice, or a slice of something sweet. The babies reactions were hilarious, but they kept going back for the lemon slice as opposed to the slice of sweet! They had no explanation for it though.

Food tastes sh1te now cos it's missing the secret ingredient: danger. You never see news reports about disgruntled factory workers sticking broken glass in jam or whatever anymore.

Brunch ice cream, used to love biting in to the sweet biscuit coating, now there's barely any coating, i think the coating itself is different, tastes muck!!

That reminds me, I had a choc ice the other day, and the chocolate might have just been painted on as opposed to when I was on a school trip to the HB factory years ago and saw them actually lather the choc ices with a nice thick layer of chocolate! If you want that now you have to go for a twice the price magnum! :(

Brunches are pathetic these days. It's like it's someones full time job to actually coat the ****ing things in as little sprinkles as possible whilst still maintaining some sort of uniform coverage. I had one for the first time in years a while ago and I was disgusted.

One thing I like to eat regularly that seems to still be as good as ever is the good old Iceberger.

Loop the loops are another one I think changed for the worse, I remember thinking that years ago. I think they re-branded the packaging. The wrapper wasn't all they changed and it was just shḯtey after that.

Pringles aren't what they used to be for sure.

That's probably a good thing though because if the taste never changed I'd probably be a fat **** right now

I keep mentioning this to people about certain stuff but i wonder what else people have come across no longer tastes the same weather its better or worse now ??

For example Pringles used to be MUCH stronger years ago i can remember as a kid feeling sick after eating a few hand fulls of the sour cream and onion ones :P. They where much stronger tasted much nicer to now there bland and a bit meh.

Had a pack of burger bites there other day dont taste same as did few years ago really bland and not as strong even look a bit different!!

Girlfriend said same to me there just a few minutes ago as well so i know its not just me :pac:

Anyone else notice stuff like this??
Three letters of the alphabet explains well why most foods now do not taste the same as it did in the past. G.M.O.

There's a lump of cheese in the fridge that's been there since 1991, and ye're dead right, it was much nicer back then. Had a piece there a minute ago and it's feckin rank. Must be the GMOs.

Cornflakes and Wheetabix is definitely one food that tastes ****e compared to when we were growing up. My mother use to tell us that there would be more nourishment from eating the boxes that these cereals came in than than there would be from eating the product themselves and this was in the 70's. Nowadays eating the cereals would probably be far more toxic than eating the packaging that they came in.

Spuds don't taste as nice anymore. They were definitely nicer when I was a kid.

As you get older your taste buds change to more savoury than sweet foods. Think that's normal enough though.

Yorkies. They used to be huge chunky delicious things, now they're like cheap ass american chocolate.

    Interesting one

I remember when I was a kid.....oranges were rank, bitter things...and impossible to peel, you;d be taking chunks of the orange out when you peeled it....

Nowadays, they are very sweet and easy to peel.

    How did that happen?

Used to be able to demolish a box of Cadburys Roses but now I've had enough after 5/6 sweets.

The chocolate seems to have a greasy, sickly texture and taste now.

Crackerbarrel cheese - remember it as having lovely strong distinctive flavour. Bought some recently - plain, greasy, flavourless nothing.
Something has changed, maybe it is me

I'd say there may only have been very few varieties of orange that were sold here back then or perhaps the ripening techniques whilst in transit have been improved?

Had a packet of Vice Versa's the other day. Used to love them when I was a kid, would get them from the shops for the walk back to school. Was so looking forward to some when they cam back on the market.

Vile. Horrible chocolate compared to what they used to be.

Food tasting funny is kind of offset by discovering new foods when you get older though. Crumbly blue Stilton, tasty mould, yes please!
