I've a feeling PSG have let his agent know they are willing to offer him monster wages and that's where he'll be off to.

That's a pretty big loss for Barca. Massively under-rated even if he's prone to the odd rick.

Indeed, his distribution from goal has been a key factor in Barca's success. He has ofc had a few mistakes against him over the years, most keepers do. I wonder what the board will be thinking in terms of replacement. Pinto, all thought I do like him he is hardly good enough for the likes of Champions league finals and such :/

He goes back as far as being the replacement after Rustu was an absolute disaster doesn't he? Only Puyol and Xavi longer I think..

Wouldn't mind a swap for Neuer in a dream world.

I wonder will it put thoughts of leaving into other players heads such as Xavi and Puyol. Players that have won everything there is to win in the game and might think it is a good time to try out different footballing cultures before they retire. Xavi and Puyol are players who would probably like to finish their careers at Barca and everybody thinks they will but everybody thought the same about Pep when he was a player and he decided to leave.

Interesting to see who replaces him if he leaves.

Who's the best GK in the academy? Anyone waiting in the wings?

In terms of style I would think a forma La Masia player - Pepe Reina - would suit Barca, and after an awful couple of years he looks like he's returning to a bit of form.

There's plenty of good Keeper's in La Liga. Maybe they'll just go for Courtois?

    Or Casillas?:pac:

Given the amount of inhuman performances Casillas has put in the Clasicos, he owes Barcelona the move:pac:

I'd hope Rosell takes this opportunity to make his 'signature' purchase, instead of squandering millions on Neymar or Sanchez and Ibra before that..

If barca were to get a new keeper I've always been a fan of Carlos kameni (now with Malaga). Strong hands, good distribution and decisions.

What about de gea? Manchester United are always being linked with different goalies so I wonder will he be available in the summer?

so puyol signs a contract until 2016.. be nice if valdes has a change of heart over the season, if not can we see barca cashing in in the summer or let him off for free at the end of next season? 31 i think, still another 4 to 5 years left in him

I see the papers are talking pep reina to barca aswell. He's 30 so is he a like for like? Are we in for a summer of being linked with every keeper around?

Yep, that's generally how crappy tabloid football journalism is.

Reina to Barca??? I don't think so.

I think they will go for a proven keeper who knows spanish football. David Ospina would be my guess. He always looked top class for Atletico and I'm thinking he would be open to the move to get back to spain.

Plus they can get him on the cheap so there is little risk.

Although I wouldn't be surprised if they just promote someone from within. I'm sure they have talented kids in all positions...even goalkeeper

Are you talking about Nice's keeper? Because he's never played in Spain before. He moved straight from Colombia to France.

It's clear we'll be in the market for a keeper in the coming months, will be plenty of time to scout and see who could fit in to the style of play. Courtois is a name I've seen mentioned nearly everywhere, De Gea as well. Unfortunately, I can't see either of their clubs selling up anytime soon.

Either Ter Stegen of Gladbach or Sommer of Basle would be cracking acquisitions. Ter Stegen is so similar in mannerisms and style to Ollie Kahn its frightening, while Sommer is destined for a move to a big European club.

Oier Olazábal is the Barca B team goalkeeper and vice-captain, he's been there for while, but he is now 23 and probably about the right age for a call up, I really wouldn't mind seeing him getting a chance.

Courtois looks excellent, thouigh he is still young and I am sure Chelsea won't let him go easy. Guaita, Valencias 2nd choice keeper I see being mentioned too. Don't know enough about him though.

David Ospina? The Colombian keeper? He hasn't played for Atletico Madrid before, nor in Spain! He was with Atletico Nacional in his homeland though.

Personally, I'm not sure if Reina could be brought back, unless there was a swap deal for Valdes. That's quite unlikely. I would like to see Barca take a chance on Roberto from Zaragoza. He's a relatively young stopper who has almost single-handily kept them in La Liga over the last 2 seasons.

Yeah I meant Asenjo not Ospina. All these foreign names are confusing me! :p

I know he definitely used to play for Atletico but I'm not sure where he is now.

The onyl way I can see Chelsea letting Courtois go is if Atletico insist hes part of any deal for Falcao, which personally, I'd rather not happen, the guy is a fantasatic talent given his age.

He's still on Atleti's books. Had a great time at vallidolid, but struggled for Madrid. Made quite a few mistakes in his first season and they quickly drafted De Gea into the team.

A change of heart is unlikely. The reasoning for his refusal to even sit down is more to do with his perceived lack of feeling appreciated compared to the others of his generation like Puyol, Iniesta, Xavi. Like all footballers, I guess he just needs to feel loved.

Amazed to see the stat that he is the first keeper to ever win 3 CLs (not sure does that include the European Cup).

Cryuff won it 3 years in a row with Ajax.

Well the stat must be for CL only so as opposed to the European cup.

I think it's 9pm Spanish time so 8pm Irish time. It would have to be on the same night as arsenal vs Liverpool
