One night stands

I'm not blowing my own horn (I rather girls do that :P) but I'm a fan of one night stands. When it comes to women I'm not a fan of commitment, I think you can get to know a person pretty well from a one night stand. I had a male friend give out to me after a one night stand but I dont see the problem. If it's two consenting adults I dont see what the problem is. I'm a loner in a way and I dont think I'm hurting anyone this way. I have italian and brazillian friends and they say in Ireland it is less culterally acceptable to have one night stands than in brazil and on the continent. Are one night stands taboo in Ireland or is my mate just a prude?

What a load of nonsensical drivel.
Fairly sure you'd be hard pressed to find many people who would still find this taboo.
I've never had one - and tbh I think that is more taboo these days!

I think I phrased my opening post badly. My mate had more issue with my preference of one night stands to relationships rather than the fact I have one night stands.

I don't mean to bring the thread off topic, the topic being I'm great ... I shag loads of birds/blokes, but every time on a sitcom you see a proper shagger (Joey from friends, Barney Stinson etc.) they are legends but when you know someone like that in real life they are nearly always severely lacking in any good human traits.

Is it just me or am I being Brazilian about this?

I had my fair share in my early twenties, and in fact my husband and I had one months before we got together properly (but we'd friends in common and saw each other a bit).

Honestly though, and being able to look back at it rationally now, there are very few so liberated people that just enjoy it for sex. Mostly, for serial one night standees, it's due to some sort of need for affection/approval/whatever.

I thought at the time I was very liberated and knew what I wanted, but I was fooling myself. Any of my friends who did the same at the time would also admit that there were deeper issues involved back then, we just were too immature to see them.

I'm sure there are people who do enjoy it for what it is and have no issues, but my experience tells me that most people aren't Samantha Jones from Sex and the City and generally there are deeper issues, for males and females.

I don't mind being corrected, just giving my view on what I thought I knew all about 12+ years ago.

In the middle of one now. Problem is I've just shagged her and I need to poo. There are several pints and a Chinese at the door waiting to get in the pool. Her bathroom is beside the bedroom so I dunno what to do. I know it's going to sound like a jet engine when I go!! I've also got very had heartburn from the Chinese!!
