Depends, lately been hitting the gym before work a couple of days a week, up at 5am, gym 0515 to 0600, back for relaxing brekie and leave house around 7am, work around -0740

    Non-gym days - if i'm in work by 9am I'm happy!

    Very erratic!

I leave the house just before 7.50 for work at 9 so I'll roll out of bed at 7.30. Clothes on, face washed, teeth brushed, out the door. Shower the night before, put on my face on the commute, eat breakfast in the office. None of this craic of getting up an hour before I leave, it's painful enough getting up and out in the morning!

I need two hours to get ready: shower, potter about, get dressed... luckily these days I don't have to commute, so I get up at 7 in order to be ready and in class by 9. My class is a minute's walk away from my residence. And still, I'm always late.

I got up at 8:35 today and was in work at 9 and its just over a 15 minute walk. I'd be up at 8:55 in your situation.

I hate mornings and getting up.

One of life's biggest mysteries for me is how anyone can get ready in 10 minutes. Brushing my teeth alone takes at least 10 minutes. This is not just the action of brushing of course- it's the process: thinking about it, doing it and preparing for the next activity. All my morning activities have a process-how the eff do you get ready in 10 minutes?!!:confused:

I was actually ready in 5 mins this morning :D, I left at 8:40 to make sure I made a meeting, Thursday is the only day I have to be in at an exact time. Jump out of bed, blast of spray, clothes on, into bathroom and quick brush of teeth, gel hair and down the stairs grab jacket and umbrella and out the door!

When the clock hits 5 and the working day is finished, i pull a pillow out from underneath my chair, place it on the desk and sleep until 6 the following morning.

Usually I wake up at 7am then I have an hour to get up , shower , get dressed , eat breakfast and then finish off getting ready by 8am when I leave. I can't bring myself to wake up around 6am.

"thinking about it"....seriously stop over-thinking and just do it.

Will save you a lot of time.

I can brush teeth in two mins. Shower in 5, dry in two and dressed in 2.

So up and out the door within 15 ,minutes max. Easy.

Alarms (ie. four separate devices) go off at 7.00, 7.10, 7.15, and 7.20. Usually snooze the third one. Get up around 7.40. Shower, breakfast, make lunch, dress. Either walk to work (30-40 mins) or grab the bus (10 mins). In work for 9.00am.

I usually shower twice a day, in the morning, and before bed/when I get home from work. I couldn't get dressed in the morning if I didn't shower.

My contract is for X hours a week. As long as I get the hours in, I can get up whenever. God, research can be great sometimes...

I'm in college. I wake up at 7 everyday, (including weekends) no matter what time I'm in for.

If I'm in for 9, I get up, my phone/alarm is across the room, is loud and stays on for about 2-3 minutes so I can't ignore it. I have to get out of bed to knock it off. Also I sleep naked so that isn't very pleasant, but a great way to wake yourself up. :D

I get dressed, eat breakfast, get bag ready and brush teeth. Out of the house for half 7 to be on a bus for 7:50, to be in college for 8:50.

Seriously don't see why some people have such a hard time getting up or falling asleep, but maybe I'm just lucky. :)

Oh and I don't shower everyday, gives me dry skin so I shower after I go to the gym, about 4 times a week. I do wash my main bits with a wet cloth though. :o

Also, I set about 4 alarms to get me up.

    Wtf.

    If I'm training 4.30, not training 6am.

    Wtf.

Alarm goes off before 7, I hit snooze for about 20 minutes while I plan my day. I get up, look for clothes to wear, iron them and then head to the shower at about 8.

I have a system in the shower- I brush my teeth, take back my brush to my room, pick up the rest of my stuff and get back into the shower.

I wash my body gloves, then I give myself a scrub and rinse off. I do it again and rinse off a second time after which I wash my scrub again and hang it. Then I scrub my feet and rinse them off, wash my hands and get out.

In my room, I put cream on face and body and then feet. Then I do my hair, wash my hands and dress up. Then I wash hands again because I have touched my shoes and put hand lotion on. This takes about 40 minutes.

I never have time to have break fast.

2 hours ish. Alarm goes off...snooze. Alarm goes off...snooze. Five minutes lying there thinking about getting up. Then get up, take the dog out for a short walk to pee & poo. Then back home check my mail/surf the web while using the facilites. Make some breakfast, eat it. Check the time. If it's 7:40, I'll make another cup of tea. If it's 7:50 I'll get my gear on and pack up the bike. In work for 8:30, have a shower and sitting at my desk at 8:45/8:50.

I used to be a nightmare, proper getting up 60 seconds before I needed to leave stuff. I find getting up substantially earlier and lazily wandering around the house and my day is much more relaxed. If you wake up in a rush, you're knackered all day.

For about 4 months now I've been telling myself I'll get up half an hour earlier and go for a run, but I seem to have a mental block about getting out of bed before 6:45am.

    You're not well.

Even if I ironed clothes I'd have it done in advance.

Why not just wash your teeth at the sink and leave your brush at the sink as everyone else does.

No need for all that scrubbing in the shower, quick blast of water, on with shower gel, rinse off and out.

Cant comment in the face cream part but washing your hands after touching your shoes is a serious serious case of ocd.

Everything you mentioned there could be done sufficiently in about 10 mins leaving you loads more sleeping time.

That's silly. I have a morning ritual that I need to share. I call it "the terminator". First I crouch down in the shower in the classic "naked terminator traveling through time" pose. With my eyes closed I crouch there for a minute, visualizing either Arnold or the guy from the second movie (not the chick in the third one because that one sucked) and I start to hum the terminator theme. Then I slowly rise to a standing position and open my eyes. It helps me to proceed through my day as an emotionless, cyborg badass. The only problem is if the shower curtain sticks to my terminator leg. It ruins the fantasy.

Alarm goes off between 0730 and 0745. Get up, shower, have breakfast, get dressed. Out the door at 0845 approx, in work for 0915 (I have no strict starting time, thankfully).

I don't like to leave my toothbrush in the bathroom because it's unhygienic to leave it in the bathroom and I wash my hands after touching my shoes because shoes are dirty. I do not have OCD. It's just a routine that I got into.

5am rise for me. Fall from the bed to the mat on the floor for a 5 or 10 minute stint of Mindfullness Meditation. Then straight out for an hour run with the wolf before coming home and doing the usual showering and breakfasting thing.

Jesus! That's how i'd like to start the day - but i just can't.

My routine is: alarm goes off at 7, hit snooze a couple of times, roll out of bed around 7.30. Get dressed, brush teeth, leave house around 7.40 - 7.45. Lucky enough to live close to work, usually arrive around 8.00 - 8.05. Grab a quick cup of tea at my desk then.
I actually despise getting up in the mornings, especially the dark ones!

Tests done on Mythbusters (which I know are hardly the pinnacle of scientific rigour, but they do their best, and it highlighted something that could do with being studied further) showed that fecal choliform bacteria (which I presume is what you're worried about on your toothbrush) is ubiquitous. They tested a toothbrush kept in a bathroom and a toothbrush kept in a cupboard in the kitchen and found fecal bacteria on both. The bacteria is aerosolised by the flushing of the toilet and carried to every nook and cranny in your house on air currents. The good news is that it's 99.999999% harmless.

    Enjoy your toothbrushing!
