If I'm working, I like to set my alarm to wake me up 2 hours before I start.

    What about you?

Around 30 mins maybe a little more. Usually get up 10 mins before I leave, 15 to 20 mins to get there, shower the night before and breakfast at work. Complete waste of valuable sleeping time being awake two hours before work unless you have a long commute etc.

I don't have a set starting time but usually try to be in sometime between 9 and 10.

Two hours. Up at 7, out the door between 7.45 and 8 and in the office between 8.35 and 9 for a 9am start.
If I could get away with getting up later, I would.

    , shower the night before.

    :eek::eek:

Could not leave the house without a shower in the morning and a shave.

Do you realise how much the human body sweats during the night, even in winter?

1hour 30mins. I got into that pattern when it took me 20 mins to get to work... I stick to it even though I'm 5-8 mins away from uni now.

45 mins - 25 mins to shower and get dressed and 20 mins to walk to work.

Alarm goes off for the first time at 7am, up at 7.40, out the door at around 7.55, stop at the shop that hopefully has no other customers and arrive at work usually late between 8.02am and 8.05..:o

If you're in college you should be getting up 1 hour and 30 mins after you were supposed to be in.

I can't understand how people can get dressed without getting a shower... never mind do a days work!

Shower the night before. I can't be doing with showering on a freezing cold morning while half asleep.

6.55 if not running or cycling
    6.10 if I am

    1.5 hours.
Even if I got up 3 hours beforehand I'd still end up tearing round the place looking for keys, phone etc at the last minute.

The same way you get dressed if you had a shower in the morning :D.

I don't understand how people waste a good extra 10 or 15 mins in bed in order to get up and get wet in the morning. I feel no different doing a days work if I've had my shower the night before or in the morning.

2 hours. And that's just to get out of bed

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,254 ✭✭✭Thatnastyboy

    Sleep at 1
    Up at 6
    Leave at 6:30
    In work for 8
    Home at 7
    Repeat
    always repeat

Just over an hour, get dressed, have breakfast and make lunch (25mins) and 30min drive to work. Always take shower the night before as we have solid fuel heating and so I would have to set my alarm 1.5 hours earlier to get up and turn on the immersion to take a shower in the morning. Also the house is usually cold in the morning so as hard as it is getting out of a warm bed in the morning don't think I could bear getting wet as well.

Given up trying to get up earlier, would love to be one of those people who turn up to work immaculately dressed with make up etc done, but I value my sleep too much for that. Anyways, the earlier I get up the later I end up being for work since I start dawdling around.

Maybe its just me. I feel so uncomfortable if I have to go anywhere without a shower.

I get up 2 and half hours before I've to go into work. Takes me an hour to get there, and I need a half hour of lying in bed after my alarm has gone off to gradually adjust to having to wake up. Then I have to quickly put on my make-up, clothes, scoff breakfast while half-running to the bus stop. Does anyone else find that even though they wake up in good time they always end up rushing? :P

Depends if i'm in college for 9 or not... if i'm in at 9 I get up at 8.55(i do set the alarm clock for 8.15, always end up hitting snooze about 10 times), but if i'm in at 11, I get up at 10:D

I don't like to shower really early in the morning(use to have to get up at 7.30 for work) as my hairs quite long so it takes ages to dry...

Up at 7.15, shower and dress. Leave house at 7.45, get train at 8.10, in for 9. The joys of commuting.

Cake, and grief counseling, will be available at the conclusion of the test

Thinly veiled "I have a job" thread.

When I did work I would be up half an hour before work. Lived 5 mins away and would take 10 mins to shower and dress. Would grab a coffee in the office when I got there a few mins early.

I am THE worst morning person. Whatever time i need to be in for (varies) i HAVE to snooze for at least 30mins before i actually have to get up. How do people get up as soon as the alarm goes off?? Once im up im ok,but its actual torture getting from the bed to the floor for me. Have to have a shower (5mins) every morning too. From getting up to leaving is less than 15mins, but the whole process from alarm going off to getting out the door is nearly an hour :o

When I was working in my last job -

    Morning shift:

    Up at 4am.
Leave at 4.45am (ALWAYS shower first!)
    Into work for 6am.
Finish at 4pm, home at 5.30pm.
    Bed at 11pm.

    Night shift:
    Up at midday.
    Leave at 3pm
    In work by 4.30pm
Get coffee and relax for half an hour.
    Work at 5.
    Finish at 6am.
    Home at 8am.

I'm so glad I don't work there anymore. :pac:

:pac: I did it for over 2 years! I don't sleep much anyway (joys of insomnia), so it wasn't too bad, I just came off the sleeping pills I was prescribed and went back to not sleeping much. :pac:

Alarm goes off at 7; snooze till half 8; get up and stumble about for a bit; wash hair leave house around 10 to 9; into work for around 5 past 9 depending on traffic.

joys of being a barman,up at 1 or 2,leave for work about half 4,get in for 5,home by 2,watch whatever iv recorded or a movie,go to bed when i want and dont have to be tired!

second post of this thread for me forgot I get up twice in the day haha , work a split shift so normally catch 2 hours in between them and get up again about 1.30pm :)

If I'm in college for nine, ill get up at around 7:45 and get the bus at 8. Have a shower the night before so I don't have to bother in the morning. Couldn't be doing with that.

I'm usually in for 10 though so I get up at 8 and squeeze in some relaxation time before I have to leave!

Alarm goes off at 7am hit snooze 3 times get up 7.25 get dressed and out the door 7.30 max any later I'd be late for work, drive 30 min arrive at work still half asleep. Better go asleep it's getting late.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 280 ✭✭happypants

Usually 2 hrs before no snooze button here, I personally think they're a form of torture. I have an hr to get showered, potter around drink my coffee etc, I hate rushing. Then it takes half hour to drive to work.

If its a late shift (1pm start) sometimes the same, I gotta get those lie-ons when I can!

    Wake up at 7:30am.
    Leave house at 7:55am.
At work for 8:00am (25m commute ftw).

For a minute there I thought that was 25 minute commute (does not compute), then I copped 25 metre commute! :D

Alarm goes off at 5 to 7, 10 mins snooze time, shower, wash/shave etc, leave at 7:30, in here 10/15 mins later.

On the plus side I try to get out most days around half 4 and if I was late or wanted to work from home for the day that's not a problem either so that's a big help too.
