obviously losing my sh*t with them completely would have lead to either: 1) them hating me 2) them deliberately making more mess 3) asking me to gtfo. i think it was resolved fairly well.

Glad to hear it - enjoy Paris

*me is jealous (of being in Paris, not the fruit fly orgy)

Anyways I sorted it out, kinda. Said it to them straight and I'm gunna stay. Guess I was used to a cleaner place back in Ireland as I was living with all young professionals. Yeah only 2 and a half months I guess, better make the most of it.

Young "professionals" (seems to be anyone who works in an office no matter how lowly and badly paid they are like to call themselves a "professional" in this country when it comes to house hunting :pac:)

And I shared a house with such "professionals" years ago-one of them was clean enough, the others were just as filthy as anyone else I've shared a place with here. Certainly no more clean than those working in manual/factory jobs.

There's a difference though between clean freaks and not wanting to live in a place with filthy slobs who don't care about others they share with, and who think it's perfectly fine to live in a pig sty.

I'd take a clean freak any day.

the HDMI cable for those of you who haven't used one, is basically plugged into a laptop and matches are streamed. the house was signed in the guy that's causing the most mess's name, it's just a bit of a mess (no pun intended) to get out of. I know I could like but the fact we're in the same class would make it amazingly awkward. I reckon I'll scrap the rota idea, and just put their dirty plates in their rooms, or even their beds. hopefully the flies will vacate for the spring then.
Well yeah, but what they choose to do in their spare time isn't really your problem...

Well I wouldn't want to spend my time in Paris watching football (or anywhere else for that matter) but each to their own, that wouldn't really bother me.

Mess wouldn't bother me too much either but these lads sound pretty dirty and I would not want to be living in filth either OP, I understand why you're annoyed. It doesn't sound like you're a clean freak, I think most people would like the bins to be taken out when there are fruit flies everywhere. Pretty normal to me. Hopefully they'll agree to clean on Mondays but I've lived with dirty feckers and they usually don't change.

Knowing Paris like I do - its awful hard to find a place, landlords dont like forgeiners, need french garants etc I'd make sure I had a sure thing lined up before leaving anywhere
