not meaning to be a smart ar$e here, but how do you hold the union jack upside down?

The little diagonal red stripes, should be at bottom of white stripe next to flag pole, if its red stripe at top of white stripe by the flagpole its upside down.

"Wrong way. Look at the Union Jack picture on the right of this step. Still looking at the top left corner, you will notice that the thicker part of the white stripe is now on the bottom of the red cross. This is incorrect."

The unionist community are suffering because of the numbskulls too.

They should take it up with their representatives in the DUP and UUP then. Both the DUP and UUP were involved in the leaflet drop that poked at the paranoia and disenfranchisement of these droolers.

It's nothing new that mainstream Unionist parties use the working class Loyalist community to do their dirty work while simultaneously claiming to be all about democracy and the rule of law.

Unionists could display their disgust at the DUP and UUP by voting for the moderate unionist Alliance party in their droves at the next election. Will they? I won't hold my breath.

For some reason it always has to come down to a tragedy to break these unionist protests.

What happened last night is indefensible by anyone, and yet I've seen people trying to defend it by saying 'we told you there would be road blocks, its up to you to make other arrangements to see your dying wife'.

But why should it come to something like this for public opinion to turn on these animals.

Night courts for about two to three weeks is the only way with a mandatory six month sentence for any violence towards police.

Sick of seeing cops standing, getting pelted or "keeping factions apart". A good old fashioned baton charge with cuffs being welded on to any vermin caught and straight to court.

Plastic bullets at any missile throwers. This new generation of "protestor" wouldnt have the bottle for it.

I'll again point out that in the fifties etc the flag flew on the same 17 days in Belfast as it does now.

Short strand was attacked again. The crowd had come directly from the City Hall "peaceful protest".
Yep, reports that wee Willie was whipping the 'protesters' into a frenzy at the city hall and telling them 'If you are attacked, you have the right to defend yourself!' Then they left for the Short Strand.

Such a malignant little scrote that guy. Pity his kind wouldn't just die off.

One thing which I have to say is very positive is the wide birth dissident republicans are giving this.

The provos got credit by defending the short strand. ( Legend that he is, Billy McKee is in his nineties now)

It would be easy for the dissidents to try to emulate him and the battle of Saint Matthews and defend the short strand against this loyalist scum but thankfully they haven't and hopefully won as that might kick things up a gear and make it worse(probably why they havent done anything)

As much noise as these lunatics are making, I think its clear to all, the numbers on the streets don't represent the unionist community.

    I don't believe you.

Look at the numbers on the street? Its a bunch of hardline loyalists motivated and directed by the UVF. As much as I disagree with the idea of unionism there should be no allusions that this is not a representation of the unionist community and it would be ignorant to tar them with the brush that should be saved for loyalist lunatics.

These people have Willie Frazer and the PUP as their cheerleaders, that's indication enough that these people are using the banner of loyalism to drum up support for themselves.

I'm not here to convince you, just made a point as to why I disagree with you. Anything after that is up to you.

One thing about all this protesting is people completely missing the mark of what they are really protesting about and this is a sign of things to come. The union flag only flying on specific days throughout the year has become a symbol of change, and loyalists don't like the outcome of that change.

If you can trawl through the ridiculous comments from Willie Frazer and his ilk the underlying issue for those "protesting" is the fact that loyalists are not getting their way anymore. This flag issue is a representation of Loyalist fears that steps towards a United Ireland are on the way. Obviously that's not the case because the main representatives of both communities would have nothing to gain, Sinn Fein included.

The heat may die down on these protests over the coming weeks/months but if another issue similar to this riles the loyalist community in a similar way, then I think groups such as the UVF are not going to see pot shots and riots against the police as there ultimate action.

This audio clip was luckily recorded by the BBC, but how many similar stories are there? Why are these illegal marches and protests going largely unpunished? Lift these people and set a precedent for riotous behaviour and causing millions in damages and lost revenue.

I have to go up to Belfast next weekend for a wedding. I spend a lot of time up there, on my last visit we actually came home on the Monday they had the flag vote. I'm starting to get pretty apprehensive about is as I usually stay with friends off the Newtonards Road.

Don't leave a southern car outside anyway!

During the protest Willie Frazer told them to go and defend themselves if attacked there. Then they decided the short strand would be a good place to stop off for a rest?
They clearly were on the wind up and a few teenagers (wrongly) threw rubbish at them.

That's not how the Chief Constable of the PSNI tells it:

I would be more worried by a number of known UVF men walking to the frontline earlier with Billy Hutchinson and can be heard shouting threats at nationalists.

Towards the end of 8 minutes leading into the start of 9.

That's the core worry, alright. These people need to be taken off the streets. In my opinion, ideally permanently.

This video sums up Frazer till the bitter end. Here he is talking to a murder in the past.

Notice how he does not say "Sinn Fein/IRA" but just Sinn Fein in this video. Cause he knows this man was just as evil as any IRA man in the past just a different name.

My Brother was telling me about a TV interview with Nigel Dodds where the DUP was called out on the leaflet drop by a SF rep. He couldn't remember what channel it was.

Does anyone know what interview he's talking about? I couldn't find it on youtube.

    Thanks.
