Do you like heaping more pain upon an already raped woman by removing her right to choice.
She already had no choice in her rape................ you wish her to have less.
I don't want an innocent life murdered

Rape and incest are complicated issues but i cant understand pro lifers refusal to accept the need for abortion in cases where life outside the womb is untenable or may pose a significant risk to the mother

There are a spectrum of opinions - not just a pro life and pro choice camp.

If you do allow abortion do we allow late term? How long do we allow? 12 weeks? 30 weeks?

Yes OP good to see people are finally coming around to the glorious killing of unborn children. What a backwards ass country we were for so long.

Well there should be a stigma attached to murder don't you think?

How about coming on here and offering something in the way of an intelligent debate rather than spouting on about murder and throwing out one liners.

But your fine with an innocent woman having to relive trauma of what happened to her daily for 9 months and have what she may rightly feel as a violation growing inside her whatever about for the rest of her life

You'll never have to carry a rapists child, so it's easy to say that Thomas.

What else is there to talk about? You are either against or for the murder of innocent children.

I agree there does need to be a cutoff point but that should be decided by medical practioners and lawyers who have all the facts and information available to them, have massive amounts of experience and are able to put their bias and beliefs aside to decide what is best for all involved instead of just one unborn foetus.

I actually don't agree. While those people should definitely advise and educate it should be down to the people to decide. My problem with this debate is it's like the atheism and religion debate both sides are as dogmatic as each other not willing to accept there is middle and logical ground. It's a polarised debate that has way top much emotion tied up in it. That should be the first hurdle overcome.

As to the solution I've no idea.

Why does everyone who is pro-life have to be religious?

I'm not in the slightest bit religious but happen to believe that life begins at conception and people should have a bit of self control when it comes to shagging. Accidents happen and adoption is there. The argument for abortion seems to be simply that it's more convenient.

Because most people here think that only religious people are against abortion, and the more religious people they can stick it to, the happier they seem to be.

That you think clumsiness and valuing convenience over an unborn child are what cause abortion so generally, is pretty damn insulting.

It's the "should have just kept your legs closed" argument that really riles me. What about women pregnant to an abusive partner? Those who did use contraception? Or being told that your child will likely live only a couple hours after birth and will most likely spend them in pain?

I can tell you for sure that I will never, ever forgo contraception with the attitude of "oh it's ok, if you knock me up I'll just abort it." But I CANNOT say for sure that I will never be put in a situation where abortion is something I have to consider.

Yes it is all about everyones feelings and not about protecting innocent life.
It must be hard to face up to the most important fact in this discussion, but keep burying your head in the sand.

You adopt unwanted babies so. Why are men so hellbent on telling women what should happen their own bodies?

Because sometimes it is the right thing to do.

Well Youth Defence was set up by women, and run mostly by women.

You'll find most pro-choice campaigns heavily rely on men too

So you can cut the men/women aspect from it.

I dealt with that further up. Where the conception proves risky to the mother, be that through rape or not, then the pregnancy should be terminated.

Already dealt with - give the child up for adoption.

Actually a good point and worthy of more discussion and tie in with cases like Fleming that are currently going on.

I don't believe such as decision should be up to the mother as I've indicated. One of the reasons is that some people do carry the attitude you have espoused. My main reason is a balancing of rights - the inconvenience of having to carry the child to term simply does not out weigh the right of life to the child in my opinion unless the circumstances present a risk to the mother.

If it bothers you and your kind, don't do it. I don't like people who smoke so I don't smoke. You don't agree with abortion so feel free never to avail of it.

    Blah Blah Blah
    The game is up.
The people want abortion today (as they did 20 years ago).
    Check out the polls.
    Abortion WILL be legalised soon.

The anti abortion gang will scream blue murder damning everyone to hell (no such place) etc
But the game is up for them and about time too.

There's more than enough abortion relate threads in AH as it is. This is better suited to the likes of Politics or Humanities.
