Don't worry, they'll have to run it past some people with absolutely no mandate whatsoever rather than actually asking the people what they want.

Then they'll present us with some unintelligible legal garble of a referendum that nobody really understands what Yes / No means without a PhD in law.

I didn't think the "On -demand" number would be so high.

    Good.

On Demand? Like Sky, is it?

    The majority are wrong.

What planet are people on if they think 1,000 deaths per year is OK?

The "abortion on demand" term has been irritating me lately. It's seems to put a harsh stigma on it. Women aren't just demanding abortions, they are asking to have them for a variety of reasons. Abortion by request is a term that's suits much better.

    Abortion is legal.

An opinion poll is now a democratic instrument?

    Those people are wrong.

IF you're going to be pedantic about it, an opinion can't be wrong....

    http://www.rte.ie/news/2013/0110/majority-support-x-case-legislation-poll.html

64% want at least the X-Case legislated for including the threat of suicide, many want abortion on demand!

Good to see attitudes changing in this country.

the church aint going to like this one if they loose this vote their will be reform

36% is pretty high against, not suprised in a country that still has 1 in 5 voters supporting FF.

Yes OP good to see people are finally coming around to the glorious killing of unborn children. What a backwards ass country we were for so long.

Well there should be a stigma attached to murder don't you think?

We kind of already have 'abortion on demand' by letting the UK take care of our 'problem'.

It's about time we legalised it.

Why does everyone who is pro-life have to be religious?

I'm not in the slightest bit religious but happen to believe that life begins at conception and people should have a bit of self control when it comes to shagging. Accidents happen and adoption is there. The argument for abortion seems to be simply that it's more convenient.

An opinion cant be wrong, you can disagree with it and the facts its based on but the opinion is not wrong

    Accidental rape and incest.

I'm surprised that only 26% are in favour of convenience abortions. I'm not complaining, just surprised.

Sorry I should have qualified my statement - where there is a risk to the mother (beyond de minimus), including physiological risk then yes abortion should be an option that shouldn't be limited to rape and incest cases.

    Killing an innocent solves rape?

    Nobody said abortion "solves rapes".

No but it's illogical to balance the rights of the unborn over that of the mother.

Do you like heaping more pain upon an already raped woman by removing her right to choice.
She already had no choice in her rape................ you wish her to have less.

Rape and incest are complicated issues, I think abortion should be allowed in such cases, but i cant understand pro lifers refusal to accept the need for abortion in cases where life outside the womb is untenable or may pose a significant risk to the mother

I wasn't having a go at your post Wiley. It's the term in general that irks me.
