Threats from out of date Neanderthals.

    Stuff them!

    The recession?

It's down to a bunch of drug dealers and gangsters who don't like the fact that bitterness and hatred are a thing of the past. They are doing this to put the fear in to people, in an attempt to stir things up again.

They are an irrelevance and they speak on behalf of nobody.

    I love how they say,

The moment you donn a British uniform you become a legitimate IRA target.....

Whilst parading around in British DPM combat shirts!!

It added: “Whether they are motivated by financial reasons or a sense of adventurism, we take this opportunity to say that the moment you don a British uniform you become a legitimate target for the IRA.”

Between 60 and 70 people - some of whom were dressed in full military fatigues - took part in the commemoration which began at Bedford Row before making its way to the Republican plot at Mount Saint Lawrence cemetery.
After making such a statement, every single f**king one of them should have been tossed into a riot van, and held until they give up names.

The vegetation of Britain is identical to Ireland's. The uniform is highly effective.

Not that dissidents will ever use it. But case in point: When the Provisional IRA successfully ambushed British soldiers, they wore it. Nice blend with the local terrain. Same in the free state when it helped a single ASU dressed in it humiliate the Irish defense forces by escaping, despite being surrounded by a unit heavily armed with tanks.

I don't think any self respecting person should join the British Army, Irish or not.

I'm aware of the abilities and uses of the camo. THEY THEMSELVES mention simply wearing british uniforms as reason enough to be targeted but they don't seem to see the irony of wearing a british styled uniform.

But heres hoping they cop on to the fact and start off-ing each other!

I'd march them to the Cliffs of Moher and give them just one option.

Never understood those wanting to join the British Army, even Brits, I know a lot do it for a job or career, and there must be an element of those nationalist types ( we have them here too ) who swallow everything about the primacy of their country.

Nation states are essentially fictitious abstract creations, 200 plus years ago ( which isn't a long time offset against the history of the planet ) Us, Germany, Belgium, Italy etc didn't exist and may not exist again in another 200 years.

There is very good money in it for people who leave school with few qualifications. Good career prospects in terms of potential for promotion as well as training that will be useful should you ever leave.

I reckon there are very few people who join up for the whole patriotic national pride thing.

Who do you consider "there(sic) own people"? The CIRA have only killed a handful of people, which ones do you consider their own?

Even though the plot against the soldier in Limerick at Christmas seemed very real, I'd wager that much of this talk is just empty rhetoric from attention seeking scumbags. Murdering an unarmed British soldier home on leave from fighting the Taliban in Afghanistan seems very cowardly and it would their cause more harm than good. Nutcases.

I don't really get why you'd want to join the british army either, them lads go off fighting illegal wars and get themselves blown up/shot at/spit at/killed. The hell with that, Irish army Defence Force and neutrality FTW.

And I cannot for the life of me understand why you'd want to die for another country...well any country tbh, but especially one that f*cked us over so much over the years.........yes, yes, we f*cked them over a good few times too, but ya never hear of a british person joining the Irish army defence force

Some people might want to join the BA as the IDF isn't currently recruiting.
Some people might want to join the BA as they are currently in a war and they want to do some actual soldiering.
Some people might want to join the BA because they had a family member do the same.
Some people might want to join the BA just because they want to.

Other people might not want to join the BA for their own reasons.

Point being that nobody should proclaim them as a 'target' because of what they chose to do.

I don't agree with what the BA are doing, but ppl shouldn't be singled out as a 'target'...even though it seems yet another load of wind and p*ss from the 'dissidents'.

by soldiering do you mean kill people in a foreign country? not all that different from what the republicans want to do.

    Why did he join?
I was in the Irish defense force for 4 years and I'm British.

So why didn't you join you own country's army?

Honest to jaysus question for both of ye lads...
What motivated these decisions? Why join a foreign army?

    Well, yes. Technically.

Soldiering for some could be compared with/ defined as, say, playing football for your local team.

Lets say one team doesn't play matches, all they do is train. Another team does play matches.

Now it would be understandable if somebody would actually want to play a match so they go and join the team who play the matches.

Now for others soldiering could be compared with/ defined as , as you said, killing people in a foreign country.

It all depends on how you compare/define something. Last time I checked, we were in a democracy so that leaves you free to compare/define something as you see fit provided that it's legal.

The BA is a legal organisation so joining it is legal.
The IRA is an illegal organisation so joining it is illegal.
