seeing as not all bar/clubs do it, we can infere that those bars/clubs that do it are motivated by greed and not necessity.
on more than one occasion i have left establishments for this reason.

Some bars/clubs do door charges or make you check in your coat and pay for it. Different places use different methods to try to meet the extra costs of staying open late.

Stock-market type bars are great craic though, they change the prices randomly depending on what is selling well and have all the ups and downs on screens. Can't do them here though because of licensing laws unfortunately.

    Hah that sounds really interesting/fun!

(Buying up a shed load of beer 'X' on the cheap and undercutting the bar when demand sky rockets! :pac: )

    EDIT: then getting turfed out!

is there any law saying that pub price displays must be visible ??

Only ones I have seen are on the back of the door & only seen when you are leaving which is still legal. They have fuf-all drinks on them at that.

Stout / Lager / Cider / Spirit never any brand names or mixed drinks

they have to have a price list displayed on the premises not sure if it has to be located at the entrance, i have seen them at the door and near the bar

I am pretty sure that most bars that raise prices after a certain time, will have the higher prices displayed on their price list (which should be legally displayed) if anybody wants to check this and report back..

Yup, getting your round in turns into serious tactical thinking. You also end up drinking all sorts of stupid **** later in the night because people just get whatever is cheapest while they're at the bar, so you end up playing a weird form of drunken russian roulette. Shots of zambuca with red wine chasers just feels weird.

I was in the Q bar on O'Connell Bridge a few years ago and they increased prices every hour after midnight by one Euro. Unsurprisingly I have never been back.

and some bars/clubs dont charge in, dont increase prices at 11.30 and dont over charge for drink, granted these are few and far between but they are the establishments i try to frequent.
