It also puts Wenger on the spot. He has to replace especially with Gervinho gone to the ACN. Not to do so would be extremely negligent especially if we have an injury to a front player now. Could be a bit like the Liverpool situation yet.

I'm thinking he have someone lined up and deal must be nearly done to leave us that short would be criminal

Not really gone though, is he. We're paying him to play for someone else and in all likelihood he'll be back at the end of the season after making little impact.

Frightening that he publicly stated his interest only to have spurs grab him with relative ease

Holtby is a good signing for Spurs but he'd be surplus to requirements at Arsenal, we seriously do not need anymore young promising technical midfielders. I want to see Eisfeld given a shot first.

    This wouldn't surprise me.

Anyone know the details of the Chamakh loan? Wages, option to buy etc?

He's injured + he the club mightn't be able to call him back early

Call me crazy but I think we might just bring one, two or maybe even three players this window.

Now we all know how Arsenal and Wenger have worked in recent transfer windows so I normally expect the worst, and sometimes it comes true.
Usually however our squad is quite large and I believe Wenger when he says that he "trusts and believes" in his players, hence no new arrivals apart from obvious required replacements.

This time our squad is quite small even considering the players that Wenger may trust that I or others might not necessarily do.

Strikers: We have Giroud and Walcott only, and thats including Gervinio who is no striker and off to the ACON.

Wingers:Taking Walcott off the wing along with Arseshavin leaves us with no wingers (of course the Ox, Rosicky, Ramsey and possibly Gnarby & Santi or Santos could play out wide but that reduces our central midfield options)

Central Midfield is well stocked so I dont expect anything here (even if I would like it)

Defense: With Djourou almost gone and with rumors of Squillaci and even Miguel going on loan we are left alarming short in central defense with just three reconisged first teamers. (especially with Vermaelen covering left too)

Wing backs: Right is fine with Snaga and Jeninkson
Left back tho could be a worry with Gibbs whos misses matches and Santos just not up to it, as Wenger seemed to have concluded after his last stint when he used Vermaelen after two matches

By taking a conservative 2 players for each position I think we are short numbers wise (quality wise is a different debate) by at least 2 Wingers, 1 Center Back and 1 Left back at I dont think Wenger will leave us that vulnerable for the tough half season left.

So I think that we will get a player that can cover center and left back and two wingers/strikers/midfielders that we like so much.

What do ye think 3 new recruits this window lose some of the crap, its going to be great! and thats just covering losses it could be more!!!

    You're crazy :pac:

In fairness though I do hope you're right. Otherwise we are only an injury or two away from playing some weird formation with goalkeepers at CB or something.

Thank god Chamakh is gone. This is great news.

Im telling you he could really excel at West Ham. He looked a good player for Bordeaux. I remember him getting a screaming header back in the 2010 CL against Lyon rubbing my hands with glee at the thoughts of getting him.

Fact is he was starved of ball at Arsenal alot of the time and lost the confidence in 2011. Yes attitude was questionable but i expect Big Sam to get a good show out of him. Either way his Arsenal days are numbered.

Chamakh signs 6 month loan deal with West Ham. Owner's son delighted with the news:

    @jsullivanwhu
I am very sorry about this news
Chamakh has signed a 6 month loan deal
    Not my pick :(

Not a huge Big Sam fan but i would bet he knows a bit more about players then that dolt, his old man, David Gold and Karen Brady put together.

If them 2 are gone there is a spot available

Step forward mbiwa, can play CB, RB, and more importantly DM. Would be good cover for all those positions. And I really rate him

    If only

Very impressed with him against us in the CL. My concern is he loves a tackle a bit too much and might see red very often in the EPL.

I say very impressed i was actually impressed with Squillachi the first time i seen him too.....:o Ooopsie!

I actually agree with you, He done far better with Arsenal at the start than i thought he would.
I think he'd be decent enough if he was playing all the time

but it needs to be all the time, i think realising he wasn't going to be starting every week had an effect on him (obviously) and he's not the type of player that can do much when coming off the bench because of it, he can't cope with it for some reason i think

I just hope to christ this minor drop in dead wood sees an appropriate increase in quality as replacements.
