The foul throw rule is very strict in comparison to other restarts.
There is no need for this.

Just get the ball back into play as fast as possible.
Keep it 2 handed as one could throw it twice as far one handed.

I don't see the need for both feet to be on the ground either - just behind the line.

That's a ridiculous idea. Fine for 5-a-side, not for an actual game of football.

Futsal style of passing the ball back into play is much better for 5 a side IMO!

I don't think I've ever seen Evra take a throw properly. Surprised he's not called up on it more.

Sure if you didn't have to plant your feet, the long throw wouldn't be a skill anymore.

It's also dangerous if the throw isn't taken properly :D

What really pisses me off about football is that I have an irrational hatred of Man Utd.

It makes no sense but I can't make it stop. It's just bloody football but if I find out someone is a Utd fan I automatically think less of them. I then proceed to get annoyed at my own stupidity.

    Nothing wrong with the throw.
The defender is supposed to be at least 2m from the line in order to prevent this type of thing.
Although he'd need to have been at least 10m away to have any chance of ducking.

    It's not an American word.

It really grinds my gears that people don't know that.

Look up a bit of history there, good lad.

Yes, I hate when people dismiss soccer in America as well :) USA has a good team better than most, and its growing all the time :D I think in 5-10 years, USA will be a Netherlands level team in terms of player pool.

    Why the inverted commas?
All managers are lesser managers to Fergie :pac:

What about his Jedi mind trick influence over referees? Suppose you buy into that one?

Not to mention his hypnotic mind control of the FA

Why would you be issed off? Its not as if you are the only one who hates United.

I say embrace it. Enjoy when United get beat. Although you would have to question your loyalty to football club you support if that was case.

That doesn't change the fact that it is a British word and it was being used in the UK long before it even reached US shores.

Players getting booked for taking their shirts off or "over-zealously celebrating a goal" (as the fúckwits at FIFA describe it). I mean JESUS! One that particularly galls me is Arjen Robben getting booked (2nd yellow and subsequently getting sent off for it) for celebrating a goal he got for Chelsea back in 2005 or possibly 2006 (can't remember).

Especially if the goal is of vital importance, is it not right that the scorer can go absolutely bonkers? A cup-or-title winning goal? Is that not something that is to be sexually celebrated with an orgasmic display of emotion???

Yeah, but according to His Royal High Mightiness Blatter, we must be sensitive to nations that are more modest or some such B.S. COME ON!!! Any nations that may be more modest (read: religiously fundamentalist about such things) are usually extremely hot (read: Middle East/Africa/etc.) and I'm sure that they are used to seeing blokes without shirts on, ffs.

Is there not a tribe in Africa somewhere where the women go around topless with their tits hanging out???

I can't imagine many people having a coniption if a footballer rips their shirt off in celebration at scoring a crucial goal, in all fairness.

Not sure if it's been said here before but,

Seeing a player stand in between the 'keeper and his defender, with no intention of getting the ball, only trying to block and disrupt said keeper during a corner or free.
