Ive been waiting for this to come up and ordered in my local argos.

1 point of note, every review says same thing, great chips but flimsy parts. mate got one last year and he said same, cooks fantastic but very poor build quality so when youre picking up make sure you hold on to receipt for warranty. which is true for all products bought in argos anyway but just to note one should take a bit more care with this one in case return is needed.

If you pay by card that can be used as proof of purchase too, incase the receipt gets lost.

Yes, true and argos are very good at returns. However, I think this is always a contentious one if you're looking for money back. If you bought a couple of things, lets say the total was 200e, the item youre returning is 150e but is now only 100e in a sale. your visa or laser will just show 200e for combined total, how do the staff at argos know you bought item A at the full whack?
If youre looking for money back you may only get the sale price without the actual receipt itself as your laser/visa statement entry only shows that you bought "something" from them at some stage.

unless they can tie your laser/visa card receipt to something internally on their systems?

It says at the bottom of the Argos page that the price is valid until the 18th but I'd imagine they'll be snapped up long before then. I've been waiting for a decent price on them for ages. Happy days. :)

my guess is, it's quite easy to check the price on a particular day

Some reviews indicate these gadgets have a tendency to catch fire.

Can anyone see an option to order in a Cork store? Many thanks.

Have searched most Dublin & surrounding stores & can't seem to find one anywhere. Can't see how you can order in, is that option gone? I've emailed customer services, but if anyone can advise, I'd appreciate it. Was going to buy one of these from Amazon during Black Friday but didn't really have the money & this price is even better.

on the site, go through putting a reservation in for it, it lets you click something to "order in" at that point.

Looking forward to this one. :)

Can't see that option at all, unless I'm blind. Still no response to my email from this morning, so doubt I'll get one.

Tallaght, Nutgrove, Liffey Valley? Thanks a mil.

I got a reply from Customer Services this morning saying they'd look into it. They asked what was my local Argos, so hoping they'll come back saying they found 1.

Picked up mine yesterday. Made chips.

    Thoughts:
Its very loud. Expected it to make noise but not this much.
Takes over 40 mins to cook. Add to the time how long it takes to peel, chip, wash and dry potatoes.
Doesn't make a boat load of chips. Enough I guess for 2 hungry people but not anywhere close for a family.
Chips tasted different. I would say better than oven chips. Much crispier and drier and probably better, but depends on what you are in to.
Its big - storage may be an issue for some.

I would say it is a big improvement over a deep fat fryer (not that I ever had one) but not much better than oven chips.

Got to work out the calorie and cost difference now to figure out if it is a good investment as taste alone does not justify 100 quid.

Has anybody tried cooking chicken wings in it yet since that will be it's main use.

I normally cook 750g to 1Kg of wings at a time.
