Are you guys talking about adblock or adblock plus?

A guy that maintained one of the filter lists for adblock plus died a few years ago.

Lads I bought a scythe shuirken Revision B heat sink for my HTPC which has an i3-2105 sandybridge

Can someone tell me whether these are compatible as I am getting some conflicting information. The box does not mention the 1155 socket, nor the official website but on the scan page it does

I was just about to get my htpc to open it but Im glad I didnt now, its gonna be busy over the next week or so

    thanks

LGA1156 and LGA1155 have the same mounting holes so its good to go.

Bought a Samsung 840 120Gb for a mate for christmas. Wanted an 830 cause I heard the 840's are fault prone but what can ye do.

Also picked myself up a Seagate Momentus thin 500 GB for my PS3. After a quick google I saw there was an XT version. Whats different about it? Is it a hybrid drive?

You could have got a crucial m4 which are known to have good reliability.

I have a Crucial 256GB, and it's great, but I prefer the failure rate of the samsung, which is about half of what a Crucials is :) After a bit more reading, the only problems with the 840's come with the bigger capacity 'pro' models.

Plus I'm in Korea, so I got it for dirt cheap at an electronics market. The Crucial equivelant would have been much more.

Anyone know about my HDD query though?

Things seem pretty quiet around here... So, in an attempt to get things going again I ask the following question:

What are ye getting for Christmas? :D (Tech stuff, obviously)

    I'm (hopefully) getting
    • Sapphire HD7950 Vapor-X
    • NZXT Braided Cables
    • New 630 Watt be quiet PSU
    • Corsair SP120 fans
    • Red Antec LEDs for inside the case

Can't wait to get overclocking :). Actually, has anyone seen the new HD7950 Vapor-Xs? Along with using a HD7970 PCB, they've got two 8-pin connectors instead of two 6-pins. Massive overclocker?

Probably all last min. shopping:) Nice list there Eboggles.

Apart from the usual stuff, I usually get cash from the gf as she thinks I'm to difficult to buy for when it comes to PC gear. I'm trying hard not to buy anything tech. wise until new year as I will be Vat reg'ed-then the fun will start :D

240Gb SSD & TJ-11 to start with, then hopefully around April I'll flog the two 7970s' and go for 8970's or GTX 780's and try watercooling after that.

    Edit:

Good review on the HD7950 Vapor-X here, looks like a serious overclocker (1160/6000 mem:eek:) & great cooler to boot.

It's more like a wish list; I'd imagine only 3 or so items will be bought, still excited though :D.

As for the HD7950, it seems to be a demon but the fans aren't as good as the Gigabyte Windforce or ASUS DCII ones. Can't complain though, it beats the crap out of my old HD6850 which is then being transferred into another build.

Actually, does anyone here use CF'd HD6850s?

besides my dad being an old school (DOS/3.11/ altOS's etc) debugger, I'm the only one in my family who is any way technically inclined. he'd still be perfectly content with a 386, so I don't get anything of the sort for Christmas.

got the mother a tablet for facebook

    I'm getting myself a prodigy, another 256gb SSD, ax750 and an asrock z77e-itx :D
most of the money to fund it is coming from the sale of my 6990 and selling my HTPC.

I built a rig for my brother in the Prodigy two days ago, it's actually much smaller inside than you think, even though it's expected to be small. It's actually really small, but it's unbelievably fun to build in.

That's a pretty nice list by the way :D.

Well my little Christmas treat (to myself) arrived today. XSPC res, lamptron FCT and blue tubing. It should have arrived last week but someone messed up along the way! Now all I have to do is find some time to set it all up.

K, BF3 needs to come off my SSD like NAO. Too many updates. Am I ok to just uninstall it or should I do some disk swapping trick? What would be the best way?

    Merry Christmas guys!

BF3 is 28gb the last i checked. bit of a joke. i know people who cant play it cause their eircom cap is too low to DL updates that are mandatory.

so my moms tablet arrived DOA. bit of a disappointment when its the only prez i got her

Just got the HD7950 installed, it's freakin' massive!

Anyway, just installed Cats 12.11 and Trixx and it looks like I can overvolt, contrary to many other Vapor-X 7950s. The voltage limit is 1.381 volts, and GPU-Z is reading it correctly...

Am I right in saying you can pump as many volts into it as you like as long as temps and stuff are under control?

    EDIT: Literally 10 minutes later = http://www.3dmark.com/3dm11/5340258?key=zaBKARbjWq7pTiFkUHUIew&loginkey=lC2bW6xU0Wpmoa0bMyRvrQ

It wouldnt happen to be an archos would it?

In any case, there's a good chance the battery is over discharged, heat it up(hot water bottle), then leave it trickle charge for 4hrs, then see if she boots. Its a common enough problem for things that have been in a warehouse for too long.

that's a decent score. iirc I was just under 11k with my 6990. I'll test my Gtx690 when I get home.
