Is Henry a done deal, or is it just assumed to be?

With the agony caused by getting hit in the head by the ball these days it's amazing that anyone is still willing to head it.

Looks like it's unlikely to happen actually based on the last I saw from Houllier and the NYRB side of things.

Well we can forget about Huntelaar now!

Lets face it, january not the best time to go shopping for quality players. Our Arsenal may not be so desirable these days either for players looking for a new club.

If it doesnt happen we better find out soon so we can get someone else in. No point in leaving it until 30th of January and finding out we cant get him and being left with no time to even try and find someone else.

    EDIT:
Last time I'm going off topic now, as Fergie is losing his marbles today:
"Robin van Persie is lucky to be alive."
"you can clearly see that he could have been killed."
"I know he is a young referee but dear me what a performance that was."

Wayne Rooney being the sensible one!!!!:
"The whistle's gone, the defender has gone to clear and it's hit him in the head. I think probably the right decision from the referee."

Surely Fergie should be getting at least a fine of some sort over his comments?

Man U drop points and we're talking about Fergie's comments. Funny that.

Old whiskey nose knows from Rooney's elbow a year or two back that once the ref saw it and spoke to Williams, nothing can happen.

More realistic targets are players who aren't already cup tied for the Champions League. We're being heavily linked to Zaha, Ba and Michu due to this.

I'm probably a bit guilty of getting caught up in the hype here, but I'd be genuinely happy if we bought Michu. He has that likable habit of scoring goals.

But we have seen one season wonders before.

I don't pay much attention to Newcastle, but did see someone post on here (don't know which thread) that Newcastle are heavily linked with another striker, which probably means Ba is leaving.

I'm undecided on him, personally. He is a very good player and knows how to score but with our injury record his knees would probably explode when he steps on to the pitch for his picture after signing the contract.

And his 18 month limit per club. He's not the answer.

Who do you think we should go in for? I'm clueless at the moment tbh. Hard getting someone really good in from the January Window.

I don't know but he's not the answer. I know I get flak for just saying no all the time without alternatives but if a mate wanted to spend 10k on a 10 year old Corolla you don't need to have an alternative lined up to tell him it'd be stupid to do so.

Huntelaar would be a nice little scoop I guess.

Well Huntelaar was a player who I was hoping we were going in for but he has signed a new two year deal so he's out of the picture now. Ba is a good footballer I would just be worried about his fitness more than anything. We need a stop gap until the end of the season at least... It'll be interesting to see if there is any basis for the David Villa rumors.

I'd love to see wenger just surprise everyone and nab Falcao. He really strikes me as the kind of player who can turn a good team into a great one, like messi or ronaldo. Would have to be summer before that could happen though, also I'm well aware I'm totally dreaming here.

With the added bonus of pissing off Chelsea :D

Some Chelsea fans seem to think he is already theirs.

Why not all 3? Should shut people up for a few months.

Im not totally aware of ba's injury problems but no point buying someone whos goin to be injured all the time

My view is GO BIG OR GO HOME
Put 30 million on the table or dont but any striker at all
If we want to win anything we need to but the best simple as

we would need to offer him 200k and cough up 30-40m for him!

i'd agree, breaking the wage structure for a phenomenal player like Falcao would be worth it. However that's unrealistic given who owns the club.

Linked with Adrian Lopez today, Falcao's understudy. He'd be a player i'd be delighted to get.

I'm surprised that some people can post on transfers today. Jeysus it's only one day after one of our former players was nearly "murdered".

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,629 ✭✭✭wonga77

Im sure theres a 17 year old French kid out there who's the "next big thing" and wouldnt cost much and will be ready for the first team in 3 - 5 years.
Much as i would love to see Falcao with us, theres about the same chance of me winning the lotto. Im not so sure breaking the wage policy is a good idea for one person, would it not create tension between the players?

Weren't Arsenal at one point close to signing him before he moved to Porto? Remembered hearing something a few years ago. Probably was a rumor, but who knows how it would have turned out. Fantastic player.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 30,746 ✭✭✭✭Galvasean

I heard that O'Neill had the chance to sign him for Villa but opted for Heskey instead.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 9,828 ✭✭✭gosplan

There's no way we can pass up the chance to sign Ba, dodgy knee or not.

Regardless of whatever else we do, we need a player like him. Arsenal need to stop worrying about what if's and possible injuries and giroud's development and see that adding a proven premiership goal scorer for 7 million is a no brainer.

You will not do better in Janurary.
