I remember reading it when younger and all I could think was what a massive prick Holden Caulfield was. Maybe I'll re-read it sometime to see if my attitude has changed.

He is a prick, thats the entire point

Soccer/football. 90 minutes of passing played by wimps who get carted off on a stretcher because someone looked at them funny or they were hit with a stiff breeze.

Batman, Spiderman and Superman are all very over-rated and stupid in my opinion, never understood how they could be so popular among people over 10 years old.

Isnt this just the unpopular opinions thread?
With a little bit of "things that are only ok" tread thrown in for good measure..

Football, how people watch 90+ minutes of this stuff is beyond me. The only team I can barely stand watching is Barcelona.

Ipad, I-phones, every kind of device where countless pointless 'apps' are offered. Completely mystified as to how people obsess over this kind of stuff.

Going to live concerts is another one, I can barely see the band usually and the sound quality can be terrible. Couple that with drunk idiots means I haven't been to one in years.

Which brings me on to beer, or the taste of it. 90% of the mainstream stuff is absolutely turgid; Heineken, Carlsberg. I just can't fathom how people swear by this stuff. Are they all just afraid to tell the truth that this stuff is horrible?

Did you not like the Chris Nolan Batman films?
Spider-man is aimed at teenagers. Young man wakes up one day with "web" coming out of him. He puts on muscle etc. It's a puberty/becoming an adult thing.
Superman, I'll never understand the appeal. What's so great about being perfect and having every stupid power possible?

I think you might be missing the point of an allegory.

To remind others that their personal taste is inferior to their own. Obviously.

so inferiority complex then, perfect for the internet

If I think something is overrated I wouldn't be afraid to say it

Cake, and grief counseling, will be available at the conclusion of the test

I think this should be re-named "Stuff you think is over-rated, but dont have mates to rip the piss out if it with, so post it on the internets to feel like a boss" thread...

    Chuck Norris.
He's a fundamentalist Christian nutcase who wants religion and the Bible taught as history in schools. Enough said.

Adele, Corrine Bailey Rae, Duffy, Macy Grey - also I can't get past the fact that the latter sounds like Donald Duck when she sings.

The stone roses are massively, massively, hilariously overrated.

I used to think that about The Beatles too.

?? And what exactly are you doing here, legend that you are?

People need to learn the difference between 'overrated' and 'I don't like'.

There are plenty of popular things that don't appeal to me. That doesn't make them overrated, they're just not my thing.

Also just because something is popular doesn't mean people rate it. For instance Two And A Half Men is massively popular but it's not critically acclaimed or anything. Some people just think it's funny.

I tried watching The Big Lebowski several times. Can't get through it. I just don't get it. Ah well.
