For me, it has to be "The catcher in the rye".

It's not badly written, and it does have some of that simplicity of language, that tends to grab you, but , I wouldn't put it up there with "Breakfast at Tiffanys" or "The Old Man and the Sea", or any of Steinbeck's stuff.

So, what think ye AH? Are Tayto crisps over-rated? Or other things?

First person to bring up "Starry night" by Van Gogh or The Stone Roses, gets a puck in the jaw. If anything they're under-rated.:D

    Anyway, Happy Christmas friends.

    Choco

The Stone Roses are massively, massively, hilariously overrated.

Why do people feel the need to declare what's 'over-rated'???

To remind others that their personal taste is inferior to their own. Obviously.

Either Star Trek or Star Wars, I can't remember which, I always get them mixed up.

"To Kill a Mockingbird" is a load of sh!t. One of the most boring books I've ever read. The story just dragged and halfway through I hadn't a clue what was going on.

Anything I've read by Franz Kafka. "The Trial" painfully boring and I just hadn't a clue what was going on. Didn't capture my interest at all.

"The Lord of the Rings" and "The Hobbit". Okay, I know the Hobbit is written for kids, but after reading the Silmarillion and other tales about Middle Earth I just couldn't enjoy the original books.

I don't like sports at all. It's not a view that goes down well usually, so I tend not to mention it.

Breaking Bad is way over-hyped. Well made, over-hyped.

Hanging out with people at all times. It's all a bit claustrophobic and clingy. Some people wouldn't know who they were if you took their friends away. Pretty sure I'd be told to fcuk right off if I voiced that one, and rightly so probably. :pac:

I don't think the books were the problem.

James Joyce and Ulysses, guarantee you 99% of people who have said they read it actually haven't.
My proof. The first 10 pages alone are a complete and utter dirge.
Its one of these items in life that became trendy without anyone
    knowing how or why.
Oh, and the Clash are in this bracket as well!

I remember reading it when younger and all I could think was what a massive prick Holden Caulfield was. Maybe I'll re-read it sometime to see if my attitude has changed.

    Doctor Who.

Hasn't aged well, take Daleks ffs. I mean maybe back a few decades ago a shiny metal bin with rasping voice was petrifying, but now?
