This thread will just end up as a list of every popular comedian.
Yep -usually end up over-emphasizing their hatred for comedians that might simply be in a style not to their taste -but can probably recognise why others like them. Same with music, overstating hatred for a popular boyband rather than a hatred for that style of music, and will go for the popular choice rather than a genuinely poor band in that genre. Sh!t stirrers really. If it is a style they like then its like those "Verses poll threads" where people will call Heniz/Chef ketchup the food of the gods, and the other is completely vile.

Mine would be Reginald D Hunter, I genuinely can't see the attraction, and have never heard anybody who liked him, and I do usually like that style of comedian.

    Sarah Silverman

"OFFENSIVE WORD / JOKE / VAAAAAAAGGGGGIIIIIIINNNNAAAAAA!!"

    Wash, rinse, repeat.

In fairness, I think you are completely oversimplifying the comedy of Sarah Silverman.

In addition to mentioning vaginas and offensive words, she also references the fact that she's Jewish at least once every three sentences.

I disagree. Don't really like his stnad up

But The Office and Extras were two of the best sitcoms of the last decade so he's definitely not unfunny

I'm open to correction but they were collaborations with Stephen Merchant, who is by far the wittier of the two. He seems like a genuinely nice guy who has some humor to him..
Gervais is someone who slags others and pulls faces. I don't dislike him but I don't think he's actually very comic. In love with his own success, definitely.

    Sarah Millican.

You're fat, single and you like cake. we get it, it's just not funny.
Except she isn't single, and her partner is actually a very good comedian.

Found the Extras good and the Office cringeworthy.
He gives Pilkington an awful time in an Idiot Abroad. You'd kinda feel sorry for him.

Most comedians on the RTE payroll and/or shown only by RTE I find are pretty rubbish.
I used to like Pat Shortt, but Kilnascully is woeful slapstick stuff. A sort of rural version of Mrs Brown's Boys.

Gary Delaney. Superb, underrated stand up comedian.

Can't stand John "professional scouser" Bishop, I used to like him but he seems to have become a bit too up himself recently, and got less funny.

Sarah Millican isn't funny but seems to pop up on every show around, why?!

I can't stand Jon Richardson at all, in some ways he's like the male SM ('Oh I'm so lonely and weird. Shut up.)

Ricky Gervais just isn't funny at all. Another one in the 'smug' bracket.

Lee Evans. Comes across as a very nice, humble bloke. But don't find him funny in the slightest. Actually, I find his act a bit painful to watch.

Saw that Lee someone, some bloke dressed as a chav, on Live at the Apollo the other week. That was cringeworthy.

Does anyone remember a guy by the name of Maxwell? Longish hair, looked a bit like Charles Haughey, used to smoke an invisible pipe?

I personally find Dermot Whelan NOT funny at all......oh and add Ricky Gervais to the list

Went through the whole thread, in amazement that this woman hasnt been mentioned yet............

    Deirdre O Kane....................

    /Thread.

Michael McIntyre, don't know how he fills arenas

Tommy Tiernan and Frankie Boyle I find boring, ooh, listen to me aren't I shocking and uninhibited

Dara O'Briain, exaggerated Irish accent and boring smugness.

Stewart Lee and Bill Hicks are the masters for me, Hicks would have murdered Bush Jnr, Obama and the Financial Crisis, he's the one famous person I'd bring back from the dead.

Phill Jupitus, somebody should tell him his material is far from funny and shouting certainly doesn't make it any better.

He tops my list along with Alan Carr.

There are far too many talentless comedians plastered across our screens.

I also can't stand Andi Asha (not sure how to spell her name) who's whole act is "I'm from Nigeria, isn't that funny!?" - I hate any race/gender based comedy. It's weak, boring, overwrought and always painfully unfunny.

Also Jack Whitehall, the unbearable fruit of an industry ruled by nepotism.

I'm a boring, unfunny and largely useless individual; I watch tv and see equally useless people who are paid to make people laugh. I guess, with a bit of luck, I'll be snapped up for the next series of live at the apollo.

Pat Shortt was always one dimensional in his comedy, it got old very quickly.

When he tried his hand at a serious role in the Garage I thought he was excellent, I was hoping he'd continue in that direction.

cant stand dara o brien , he,s what id call a corporate comedian , patrick kielty is also a corporate comedian

the kind of comedian who is over ambitious and is willing to branch out into any area in order to boost their profile , a classic comedian is slightly deranged and dysfunctional , their rarely career ladder climbers

Omid Djalili - went to see him in Vicar Street a few years ago - he was terrible. He also thought we were part of the UK.

    That's him!

    Garbage.

Also, the presenters of shooting stars, Vic & Bob?

Terribly unfunny and just unwatchable. Instant channel change when they come on.

Two really funny comedians, and both Aussie's, are Tim Minchin (?) and Adam hills. I was watching Adam hills on c4 last night and although some of it was a bit forced, other bits were incredibly funny

Eddie Izzard. For whatever reason (and i know that this isnt the case) but i have never seen him do a gag. We are always told about his genius but i have never seen it. All i see is a guy in make-up with a posh accent.

He doesn't do "gags" though just savagely witty observations. Brendan Grace does gags.

The whole smug act is just a part of his humor, watch him in interviews and he is very humble and friendly.

I always thought he was awful but went to one of his shows with the woman and he is really quite good. Most of his show was on the spot jokes from audience interaction which i thought was cool.

Bertie Ahern and the previous cabinet. Some of the current cabinet can be put in there at this stage.

Sorry, but I have to say it:
The most unfunny thing I see on a regular basis is attempted political satire in threads. It's not funny, it's not witty and it's not original.

It's predictable and drags the thread off topic (and on to topics which have numerous threads of their own).

    Back on topic:
Can't stand Sean Lock, Michael McIntyre or Jimmy Carr.

Absolutely love Gervais, O'Brioin & David Mitchell!
