Neither Sinn Fein or the Socialist Workers would have enough to form a Government.;)

Well see, cause a revolution, and cause massive economic uncertinity. Not to mention we are pasically a country of P***ies.

Even settle for a revolution similar to Iceland had after their crash, would feel that alot more appropriate then ones similar to Syria and Egypt, which were situations to ours.
Get the pots and pans out!

we don't revolt because deep down inside we no longer care what happens to us.

Society as a concept has been thrashed in this country by many,

    1. Anglo Irish Bank culture,
    2. FF (NAMA),
    3. FF (Nationalised Anglo Culture and private debt and passed it onto us) to name but a few culprits.
    4. FG - Enda Kenny telling the world at Davos that Irish people went mad borrowing to explain the economic crisis in this country. What right did that F**ker have to say that.

Even though they wouldn,t have enough to form a government--that being said lets weigh up where the parties stand on property taxes.

FF have come out now in opposing a property tax.
SF have opposed it from day one.
    Independents all oppose it,
    ULA/socialists etc oppose it.

That leaves (in my eyes) FG and labour in support of it.

I don't foresee labour having much sway in any upcoming elections after shafting the workers and working class they supposedly represent (not to mention Shorthall fiasco)

That leaves FG standing alone in supporting property taxes come the next G.E, and I'd take a very wild guess that any party wishing to be voted into govt in the next elections should have a party manifesto to abolish this tax and any charges/penalties attached to it.

Looking at whats been going on recently with tax and price hikes all over the place, why are we as a country not doing anything.

Egypt, Syria etc all hate their government and are standing up against them. Ok somewhat of an extreeme example but still. Why are we so happy to sit here and just take all these tax hikes that the government are imposing on us.

Why isn't there ten or even a hundred thousand people marching outside the dail?

Realistically all these new taxes are going to force a lot of people who already resent the home they live in into more arrears and unrecoverable debt.

surely should we not be causing riots, forcing the goverment to back down over property, motor and other taxes????

yes we probably should be if nothing else it would give the government some traction in negotiations they could say 'the people won't stand for it!'.

The reason we don't is that there are no national organisation that everyone trusts to organise it. It might have been labour if they were not in government but they are.

Nobody likes FF or trusts Sinn Fein and with FG and labour in governent there is no other political leadership

In the Eighties they protested and it changed the governments attitude but that was organised by the Unions.

No chance of the unions doing it this time. as the croke park agreement protects alot of their members.

So in my opinion that is why we are not protesting!

and then wake up from their fantasy economic dream and be voted out under the same circumstances the next time round.

Serously, the political system is ****ed.The divide that is meant to be there isn't there at all. When you have a left wing party and a right party agreeing on the same budget with one vote against it,you can safely say that the entire political system is in a grey middle ground.

What the **** would it accomplish? Would revolting give you enough disposable income to pay for your sky subscription. Live in Africa, or even a second world country and see how well off you are in comparison to the vast majority of people on this planet.

And then if you still want to "revolt", get off your computer and actually do it rather than trying to inflate your ego with an AH's thread

so no matter what the other policy's are , you shall sell your vote so you dont have to pay 200 euro a year ??

no wonder the country is as ****ed as it is

not a poke at you poster - but that is just a retarded idea
so you will do it for cash, but not lets say for disabled or old people

    class

** and your statement " they cant ignore 1000's of votes ??? really - what planet do you live on ? they ignore millions EVERYDAY **

Who'd have thought we'd get all these tax hikes etc - i certainly didn't. Why didn't the government use magic beans or something instead? This whole economy thing is starting to impinge on me.

I feel the same way. In the grand scheme of things we could have it much worse on average. Ive been to some fairly poor parts of the world and in general we are like kings and queens relatively speaking. I know people who are only too quick to moan (who have a warm bed, a job, food, and basically have all their needs covered etc etc) because they seem to constantly think about what they dont have instead of appreciating what they do have.

Hopefully these hard budgets will be short term pain for long term gain.

And on the cycle goes: someone who's doing nothing gets whingey towards others who aren't doing anything... backslapped for speaking out, by people also doing nothing... comments from Irish people about the uselessness of the Irish as if they're separate to them... nobody offers a solution but plenty expect others to... self fulfilling prophecy is fulfilled... herpity derpity derp.

I've been doing a bit of thinking on how it might work and looking at how things were done in Syria and Libya. Going by their example, revolution generally starts in outlying cities before the capital falls, since that's where the regime is concentrated.

So, like the way the Libya revolution kicked off in Benghazi, ours should start in Cork. It is after all the Rebel County. Then once the government starts sending forces to quash the rebellion, we should persuade NATO to get involved and launch air strikes along the M8 to disrupt the government counter-attack. After that, we march on Dublin.

Of course.they are, but we can't be letting on, better for everyone to keep spiralling into more debt. Heavens forbid they think we're skimping by

I think they should up the motor tax.

If everyone is so broke, why do they need a car, how can they afford a car.

If no public transport in your area lobby your TD, put your energy into that.

Something has to give. Start a green revolution. I'll join that.

A week after my release from Loughlinstown Hospital last year I returned there to join a protest re the closing of A&E to find a very small crowd , considering the catchment area for this Hospital.
The protest was organised by Sinn Fein and despite having no leanings towards them, I promptly took one of their posters, thanked the organisers for the opportunity to protest and joined with them outside of the Hospital.

I mention this because it is one of the factors that have led to smallish turnouts at protest marches that they are usually organised by Sinn Fein or Eirigi.

Personally speaking , I don't care if they are organised by the Dog Pound as long as there is the oppertunity to protest. It was one of six protest marches I've been on in the past twelve months including the big gathering at the National Stadium for the HHC campaign.

We should not let the defeatist attitude of 'Sure what good would it do' to take hold, we should be out there in our hundreds of thousands marching against the rape of our Nation.

it's cheaper for me to drive a car to work than use public transport.I'm not rich,i just use my brain.

We had a green revolution too,it ended with them being torn to pieces through a democratic vote.

Arguably the more we use public transport the cheaper it will become, but again, unless we are forced via our pocket, we won't opt for the green option even though it would be a more sensible thing to do if we want to sustain our planet.

And as for the democratic vote, well that one there would be the one that got us into this fine mess again, and again and again. I'd say they'd vote FF in again tomorrow given 'alf a chance.

Why should i take a hike in my car tax so you should get a reduced fare?,I'm happy with my car,i pay my motortax as well as the crapload of tax on petrol that helps keep buses on the road.

They left with no dignity, they were smashed into oblivion because of their stupid regressive policies they threatened to impose.
