Everything will suffer if it climbs even higher than that - imagine how **** retro games will look on an 8K monitor, let alone 1080p ones :p

Good point, even SD tv broadcasting streams can & do look like poo on HD panels.

On panzer dragoon saga I think Game Tap was close to having it reverse engineered and playable back when they were still a thing. I think the best you could hope for at this stage is that some fan makes a decent go at it and sega pays them to finish it off to sell commercially. Wasn't that somewhat the case with sonic CD?

  • Moderators, Category Moderators, Computer Games Moderators Posts: 53,317 CMod ✭✭✭✭Retr0gamer

It was pretty much the case with Sonic CD. I think we just need Sega to fork out on making a emulator for Saturn that they can use for digital distribution on a variety of platforms. They need to get M2 on the case because they are far and away the best people for game emulation at the moment. It might take a while and cost a lot but Sega are doing very well with their digital rereleases and they have a big saturn library they can exploit.

Probably one of the best Pokemon Tee's I've ever seen is on Teefury right now.
I wouldn't buy one as I am not a fan of the series but to those who are, I think it must be an instabuy,

Yeah that's true I never thought of that. I'm curious as to how Achillies sounds to you in your head.

Were you pronouncing it like achil i ous or achil i esss?

It's 'Ah kill eeeeeees'.(eees as in 'keys')

Anyone who says 'Ah kill ayes' deserves an arrow to the heel :pac:

I tend to do that whenever I buy or transport anything expensive. Funny thing is, all the fumbling you do to check if it's still there is probably what will result in you losing it!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,183 ✭✭✭✭Atavan-Halen

I used to always do that as a kid! If I was allowed get a game if we were out shopping, I'd keep looking in the bag, read the back of the box several times and go through the manual as if it were a holy scripture.

For those that are interested in shmups...

Taken from PSN blog/Gaming Bargains thread.

    Under Defeat HD Deluxe Edition
    Was €39.99/£29.99/$49.95 Now €19.99/£15.99/$24.95
Additional 40% off for Plus subscribers

Might have to at that price!

But I want a physical copy godsdammit!

And I still do the above when I get a new game, keep checking, as if to prove to myself I have it, obviously it is a much "bigger" feeling when it's something of some importance, like when I got my first copy of Ico.
    It's a nice thing.
Unfortunately I was buying my own games when I got my first computer/console so I never had the parent/child bonding thingy as described, which is a pity.
But I would hope my son has a bit of it going on.

Only reason I'm considering picking up Under Defeat HD is the inevitable escalation in price it will see. More than happy with my CDR Dreamcast version. The HD version vids I've seen haven't really looked much different. (Other than the horror of the stretched horizontal mode, yuck!)

Wonder if my copy will ever be worth more than the 85 dollars I spent on it :)

Been playing more phantasy star 4, it's such a wonderful end to the series. Only played about 2 hours last night but I was treated to a dungeon with an amazing remix of the PS1 dungeon theme, a character that referenced Nei from PS2 joined my theme and then another dungeon that tied PS3 into the game. Kojima should have taken notes before he did the awful nostalgia pandering bits of MGS4.

Might be of interest to some: new web portal for doujin and other localised Japanese titles. http://www.ricedigital.co.uk/ Lots of shmups in there anyway!

My better half has just had her ass handed to her today in work, her line manager insisted she complete a task, one that had to be done, but also requested that it was kept as quiet as possible, my better half simply insisted on some oversight and that said line manager would be there for the task, he refused on the day, someone else filled in, then it all kicked off later when my better half was hauled into the office to be berated by this toe rag who lied through his yellow frakking teeth, the other manager in attendance at this charade took notes of everything my missus said but none of the abuse the filthy scum sucking muppet spewed at my wife....
Needless to say I am not happy, especially as I may see this sub-human tomorrow....
Don't want to kick him in the hole but it is tempting....
Sorry for being off topic, can't discuss this on FB and no one from my work life is a retrogamer!

Well it's what they know and grew up with. Most American kids who had a C64 instead are probably still getting over the trauma of having no friends at school.

Also the videogame crash of '83 affected videogame markets all over the world :P
