has anybody else had an issue with the tablet continuously shutting down and restarting itself since the last update? also, needing to plug into AC power to turn on after a day of no use, yet battery at 60-90% charged?

Funny you should say that but I've notice the not holding a charge issue. Very strange.

I'm fairly set on one of these now. Anyone know of a better price than komplett.ie (32 GB with dock for about 480)?

Anyone know where the dock can be bought seperatly?

Have a good deal on the tablet only but sort of want the dock as think it adds to it.

Only place i can see is ebay shipping from the US

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 944 ✭✭✭kenyard

that was where i had seen it too. its around 100 euro anyway for the dock alone.. but it contains a battery too which adds an extra 6-8 hours onto the operating time.. or is a charger i think too, so if you are using the tablet.
either way buying them separate usually actually worked out more expensive

Cheers, yeah shipping from the US Really adds to the price, the idea of the keyboard is what really sets this apart from other tablets for me though so think ill end up spending the extra money.

Any cases reccomended? all look rather similar on amazon etc.

i saw the entire unit from the us for like 400-420 euro i think it was, but shipping added it up to the same as here...

Check Dixons duty free shops in Dublin or Heathrow.
I know they were the cheapest over the summer.
Stick up a thread in the Currys/PC world forum on Boards and I'm sure they'll confirm pricing and availability.

Picked one up a few days ago from a dude selling on eBay - 32gb, with receipt, 2 months old, fully boxed as new, with dock, screen protector, and two leather cases. For 380! Happy out.

Love it mostly but I'm disappointed with a couple of aspects - android doesn't translate so smoothly to tablet. My girlfriend's iPad has a couple of killer apps that I presumed would be available, at least in concept, on android. Notability being the main one. I've looked but can't find a decent app for annotating PDFs and powerpoints on android tablet. Annoyingly, she can use evernote on iPad for the same function but it seems to lack the same ability on android. Or am i missing something? Half the reason i bought this thing was to read and annotate digital lecture notes for college...

Super note is on this as well - again, can't open pdfs or ppts with it though. I'll check out acrobat, thanks!

I've posted this to currys/PC World because i'm looking for a refund but thought i'd share this here too with a bit of editing:

I was wondering is anyone having trouble with the ASUS transformer 300? i know a few of you may have seen over the last few months, me giving out on this forum, but I'm actually really fed up with this unit. I find it so slow, lagging, basically shocking performance wise and I'm wondering if anyone else is having the same problem?

It's turning itself off every five/ten minutes (i'm trying to capture a video on my phone to prove this). I cant browse, watch movies, play music. it's basically a piece of sh*t and it can't be used for anything. It turned itself off as I had written my original post. constantly getting task manager errors. Chrome has failed...... etc... lots of faults. I'm up to date with the software.

it's really starting to annoy me tbh.my 6 year old Dell XPS is getting used now again instead of it, as is my gf's laptop.

i think I've a faulty model and i'd like to get a refund for it.

I've bought from PC world also.

    any ideas?

Return it to PC World for repair. They should return it to ASUS, who will inspect it and decide whether it requires repair, replacement or return to you without action if it is deemed to be okay.

Judging by your comments, it may indeed be a defective unit. PC World have a good returns policy, but I wouldn't go in shouting and screaming for a refund. I would just let them know it is faulty & that you expect it to be inspected and action to be taken... Quite often, people who just want a refund are those who just don't want the product for whatever reason & are often fobbed off by the shop.

It may just need a factory reset (which is easily done at home) or to flash a new firmware...

My Transormer Prime is now in the Czech republic undergoing repair, as there's a fault with the rear facing 8MP camera. This is a well documented fault, and I have seen posts on serveral fora from people experiencing the same issue. It's known commonly as the "Green Screen of Death".
I bought mine on adverts.ie and the camera was fine for a week or two, then one day I went to take a photo, and the green screen appeared.
Apart from this issue, I have found the tablet to be of the highest quality and extremly smooth/ fluid especially since the Jellybean update.
I'm kind of hoping they will send me out an Infinity as a replacement as I have heard of that happening on the XDA forum. "Touch Wood" :)

Obviously I have a lot of personal things on the transformer, so will I have to do a factory reset now to protect these and start again basically. Not Ideal and I'm fairly miffed about the whole thing. Has been nothing but trouble, and I hate to say it, but raging I didn't get the ipad now. I wanted to give Android the go.

You just got a bad unit. It happens. Most of your data should be on the SD card or easily movable and Titanium backup will let you save everything else and restore it on your new/fixed device with very little hassle.

I had to return the first tf300 I got as the touch screen didn't respond to touch.

The replacement I got has been faultless. Hasn't been off in months and lightening quick at doing everything, regardless of how many apps I have open and running. I have also just added xbmc onto it so now it is getting even more use.

To ask a stupid question, what do you use XBMC with, jsut whatever is on your hard drive or a network share etc?

Also for those who have it, is the dock worth it? looking at about 150 for one

The way I use XBMC is via a NAS. I have all my music, films, tv shows etc in separate folders on the NAS. XBMC then scans all these folders and adds them, gets film synopsis, artwork, ratings and sorts them. Then I use the TF300 to watch whatever I want. I only started using it the other day but its becoming the most impressive app I have got.

Cheers man, i just use it on my PC atm with a Hard Drive, might need to look into the NAS as an alternative

    What NAS you got?

Buffalo for me, but not confident enough to leave it on all the time...

How do I get this to work exactly? I have xbmc installed on my tablet and want to read video files from my Linux PC hard drive. Do I need to install something on the PC or how does it know where to find files?

Share the files over your wifi network.
I think samba does the sharing.
I'm on Ubuntu 12.04 if i right click a folder in nautilus and go to sharing options I can set it to share from there.
From XBMC then you'll need that to see the folder on your internal ip. 192.168.x.x and it should work something like that.
    YMMV.
