Nobody buys a vinyl Probably been well abused (raced). That is a nice long NCT though!

    How so ?

Looks perfectly straight and original to me , even the wheels aren't kerbed , unless you're casting aspersions on the sellers name, not being paddy ,mick or Harry

It does look straight to me too. I just remember hearing many times that "For Sale" stickers like the Vinyl one usually mean the driver is up for a race!

Fair enough , I get the point, but I've a funny feeling this one might actually be for sale.

While I'm at it why don't people put the price in LARGE numbers and the for sale sign small instead of the other way round ?

Because if all you have is a giant number saying 1400euro or whatever then how will people know its for sale?

    NCT till Feb 14, 1750

    Overpriced: yay or nay?

Yay, a few bits in the ad don't add up like the cc. I'd be suspicious of that mileage too. Alloys are to big. Probably a bit scuffed like the bumper. 1200 more realistic.

    Edit: missed a page.

.... I believe that's the case when the phone number is also displayed on the vinyl :)

There is something under the For Sale just too small to see properly in the picture, I'm assuming it's a phone number!

Either the rear suspension is in **** or the alloys on the rear are way bigger than the front. Look at the space in the front arch! You'd fit another wheel in there!

Or it's parked on an incline.
    They're 17" wheels allround.

Are they really worth a punt with that mileage ?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,848 ✭✭✭Redisle

I don't think mileage really matters that much at this price range tbh. The E46 has a very recent NCT so at least you know it probably doesn't have major suspension or emissions problems. Considering how easily cars are clocked anyway you can't 100% trust low mileage cars anyway! To be fair though pushing 200k miles is quite a lot.

I would say no, not much more money would see you with a 100,000 mile car imo.

If it's been well minded, I don't see the problem. You could easily buy a pile of dung with under 100k miles.

Thats ok if you trust the NCT, I put a car through the test with the clutch gone, could just about get 1st and 3rd gear, no reverse gear, passed test with only a slight comment about first gear being a bit sticky.

Fathers Galant passed the NCT with the same problem as your car. Think the giant hole in the gear box spewing oil went down as a fail advisory if memory serves me right.
