Typical man picking up on the condoms, not to be crude or anything but the items that prevent involuntary bodily fluids from going everywhere are just a tad more essential in my book.
Although all three items do provide a great public service and their use should be encouraged.

And a condom does what exactly, then? :P
Tbh I'd count everything on that list as essential...

Course a man is going to pick up on a f cking condom. It's not like they use nappies or pads. It's the only thing men use that's on that list that is a very essential part of life.

But yes everything on that list is essential and yet one who said there not needs to get their head examined.

In my opinion this condom levy idea is a Trojan horse.

The act that requires a condom generally is something you have control over ;)

So would I, but I'd put more importance on the basic hygiene products.
You can chose not to have sex if you can't afford condoms, babies can't chose to not poo and women can't chose to not have their periods if they can't afford hygiene products. I don't think people realize how restrictive it would be for the lives of parents and women to not have these products.

Well, the plastic bag levy was introduced to stop people from using plastic bags, so if the government's logic is correct, a condom levy would stop people from using condoms, seeing as they're technically non-essential.

And then the new parents who don't use condoms will be forced to buy nappies, which have a levy on them, thus giving the government more money!

    [cue evil laugh]

To be fair, sex is one of the innate human drives, so a condom levy would be a terrible idea.:pac:

Well, I'm a girl so I'd have a fairly good idea of how restrictive it would be - difficult, not impossible but difficult. Mooncups would be a start (oh why am I talking about this?).

Imo a levy on any of them is a stupid, stupid idea.

Oh I agree, like I said they provide a great public service; they prevent unwanted babies and infections. I just don't prioritize them over nappies and sanitary towels.

I just don't see how you can justify putting something that women need as a luxury item. Madness.

Also, I got into college for half 8 this morning since our window for handing in assignments is 9 - 10am, and it turns out the network is down so the deadlines been extended

AK I'm assuming is Adrian Kennedy on FM104 in Duberlin (the local radio equivilant of Joe Duffy)

Angel Lane is a nightclub in Limerick.

It'd be worse than this, all the time, if we weren't in the EU

+1. The EU has been a massive benefit to this country. It's our own gobsh*tes that consistently screw up.

EDIT: Also, Pearse Doherty is such a class speaker. He's been ripping into Gilmore and Kenny et al for 30 minutes at this stage. Great viewing!

Yeah but I remember Michael Noonan doing much the same thing this time two years ago. :p Nothing changes really, if he was on the other side I'm sure he'd act just like Kenny and co.

I always feel an urge to just get out of this country around budget-time, like I'm actually regretting not applying to UCAS right now. :p But sure we'll be grand, they may scare the blackbirds but they cannot stop the spring. /deep

Yeah I know I he'd be doing the exact same were he on the other side of the house... but I can't help it. I WANT to believe that there is SOMEONE in there that genuinely wants to change things. :(

With each passing budget, emmigration becomes more and more of an attractive prospect tbh. This one is the worst I remember since starting to analyse budgets (probably about 6 years ago). There's f*ck all in it to actually stimulate the economy. Just more tax increases and cuts that will make it so people have less money to spend. It's getting ridiculous when Sinn Fein are putting forward more positive budgetary measures that might actually work rather than FF/FG.
