This was the only game that truly blew me away at E3 of this year (Simcity 2013 looked pretty good as well)

yeah that's the problem. It *looks* good, but it's a load of bollocks compared with even SC4. There's no subways, max city size is tiny, and it's always online, to name but a few issues with it

I saw that trailer and all i remember is EA/Maxis going look at the social experience you can play with other people. What? you dont like playing with other people?? tough!

I dont want to play with other people if i dont want to. 95% of them are asshats

I think the developer stated something along the lines that it should be treated not as a sequel to SC4 but rather a reboot in the franchise. I am remaining very optimistic about it, even with EA's involvement.

Yeah, there's that problem again. Simcity Societies was supposed to be a reboot as well, and that was muck.

They're trying to change the target audience to the crowd who buy every iteration of The Sims rather than the core Simcity fans, by simplifying the game and making it more cutesy. Yeah, great, they'll sell it a bit better, but it'll have no community, die out in a matter of months. Contrast this to SC4, which is still being modded and improved 8 years later. The community is still pretty big.

A previous example is Spore. I'm sure we all saw what Spore was initially presented as, and what came out was a different game entirely, catered toward dirty casuals.

    Hey guys,
could anyone recommend a low profile cooler for my htpc. I had to resit my stock one lately and I applied arctic silver ceramique 2 thermal paste (after removing the old stuff). I did it a couple of times and the temperature is still 10-20 degrees more than it was before. The thinner film of thermal paste seems to be working better but I thinking to just do it again and pop a new, hopefully quieter cooler on.
    Any recommendations? :]
Has to be pretty low cos there isnt alot of clearance with the intel stock cooler.
    thanks!

    Would this fit?

Looks good for a low profile cooler.

Not sure on the best place to buy it. May be a bit expensive too.

It is available for €40 from QuietPC here. Found them pretty good and fast enough last time I ordered, delivery charges on an Accelero Twin turbo were €6.60 according to the invoice.

EDIT: It would work out cheaper from OCUK, just over €40 inc delivered.

EA boss is a proper tool all right. He does not approve any game if it has no multiplayer. He wants everything to have multiplayer. If every single pulls her had such a dipstick boss, then we would not have such games like fallout , skyrim, witcher, bioshock, la noire etc. how many games are ruined by half arsed multiplayer mode slapped on top of a game, which needed to be only single player game?

    Anyway, **** him sideways.

Happy days! I couldn't imagine not having an eReader. I was one of the first to pick up a PRS-505 (the 1st gen Sony ones) for €250. Crazy how much they've come down. A must-have when you get your Kindle: Calibre. Barr none the best ebook software out there.

Why do the keep putting morons in charge of EA
between closing Pandemic 13 months after purchasing them and releasing BF3 6months before Dice wanted to

its not like the games they do release get sold on multiplayer, SWTOR and MOH were disasters, Deadspace was sold because of its great singleplayer experience

Ugh I thought when peter moore became CEO he would at least fix some of the flaws of EA like he did with EA sports:mad:

So the Dell UH2312HM seems to be the price/performance standard for monitors. What is the standard for 2.1 systems? I want an audio system I can connect my PC, PS3, XBOX and TV to. If it had a remote that would be a bonus. I currently have these logitech speakers and I love them so much but they can have a low hum because they are plugged in with a 3.5mil jack, I'm looking to upgrade. Any suggestions?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,979 ✭✭✭Tea_Bag

i dont think you'll be able to plug all 4 in at the same time unless you go for an AMP + passive speakers. otherwise, xbox, PC and PS3 should all be able to be covered with optical out, so something like the logitech z5500 (5.1) can do it.

5.1 would be cool but running cables everywhere is messy and I'm happy with a decent 2.1. Maybe an audio receiver is the route to go down. Thanks.

Maybe the Swan M10's or Corsair SP2500's plus a decent sound card for your PC. I have the SP2500's and they are excellent. Though that's a lot of stuff to be switching between, so as you say a decent receiver would be better.

think I'll get my mom an ereader for Xmas. is the Kindle the best of the bunch? pdf compatibility would be top of the priorities.

PDF is an abysmal eReader format. Nothing works well with it. If/when you get one, you'll find that ePub and Mobi formats are a lot more common, and most novels you look for online will be offered in these formats before PDF.

If you have a look on the Calibre websites, you'll see the twenty or so formats it supports, in order of preference. Top of this list is LIT, followed by Mobi and ePub, and the very bottom? Yup, PDF.

you'd still recommend the Kindle then? and which one, there seems to be a hundred versions.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,857 ✭✭✭indough

i would suggest the paperwhite version as it has a pretty good backlight. i dont own any of the kindles personally but ive used most of them.

lads, what would be the least safe amount of space left on boot ssd? fecking battlefield is an asshole of a game... it downloaded 3.5gb this morning and now downloading another 4gb... its bringing battlefield size of around 28gb now!
BF3 is on my bootdrive, which has only 55gb, so i got a very tight fit... my page file is not ssd btw.
