Only City and Stoke have conceeded more than 1 goal than you guys, and only 3 others have conceeded the one less, so that statement isn't unreasonable.

    Crazy shít.

Yeah but if everyone scored 4 from 7 in football it would be called basketball.

The average goals scored for a team to finish fourth in the last 3 seasons is 68 goals.

Bases on our goals per game record this season, we are going to finish on around 48 goals scored.

Any Carroll ruled out until February with knee ligament injury.

Thats some mad train of thought. I would have prefered Borini though.

I don't think it's mad at all. We've been playing Downing at full-back and it's cost us, and the Enrique in midfield experiment seems to work, but he's our only fit LB unless Johnson is there. We need a full-back in January. Preferably a versatile one too, in case Johnson picks up another injury. We're absolutely blessed with Johnson and his versatility.

Cover for Suarez, while obviously vital, won't see us score the goals he's gotten in case he's out for a spell. Goals from midfield is just as critical. A new full-back allows us to push Enrique up while allowing for cover at the back.

Ideally we'd sign an attacking midfielder or winger as well, but I doubt we'll see three signings in January.

I think that's what Brendan Rodgers see's in Tom Ince someone who could play in both positions.

A lot of our shots are ridiculous to be fair. In any of our games, and theres been a lot that reached 20 shots or more, theres probably maybe at most, half of them in an anyway likely to score situation.

United create far better, more clear cut chances. We are never going to have their conversion ratio, even if we do sign that striker that we all bang on about.

The league as a whole has been rubbish defensively this season. I think we've been very poor defensively thus far this season. Today was the first time in an age that I didn't **** myself every time we turned over the ball. In past matches it seems teams sliced through our midfield and were running at our back four at will. Lucas stopped that happening today.

Have to say while he misplaced a few passes he was awesome from a defensive point of view today. It's funny how much that helps our attack because those turnovers from him led to loads of quick transition for us into attack with them out of shape which just hasn't been happening for us this season as we don't tend to win the ball back in good areas. It led to far more clear cut chances being created and also the whole midfield functioned better which led to proper recycling of the ball in attack which led to sustained controlled pressure. It's mad to think how a good defensive midfielder is so key to the whole team in so many ways.

No it wouldn't. For that you'd need baskets.

Delighted to have him back but he definitely wasn't man of the match. Enrique or Suarez would take that. Enrique has gone from strength to strength - I'm delighted. His delivery from deep, to Suarez in particular, has been phenomenal.

Enrique has scored one goal for us, i'd much prefer have an extra striker handy.

From a stat point of view he was MOTM, that's what AnfieldIndex is interested in!

He did well, lasted until about the 85th minute, obviously a bit rusty a couple
of intercepts/tackles ended up as fouls and some of his more ambitious quick passes went astray but otherwise just fine.

Our defensive record to date would be good enough to get us top 4.

Our goal scoring deficiencies will leave us along way short.

Brendan Rodgers admits Lucas Leiva left him with no choice but to give him a longer run out than planned on his return to the Liverpool first team against Southampton on Saturday.

The Brazil midfielder was handed a starting berth in the 1-0 victory - his first senior appearance since sustaining a thigh injury on August 26.

Lucas showed few signs of rustiness as he turned in a typically composed display, leaving his manager delighted.

Rodgers told his post-match press conference: "I thought he was excellent. He's come so far in training, I felt I needed to get him into the games.

"He's another piece to what we're trying to do here and you seen the difference he makes when he's in the team.

"He offers the team great stability and he can deal with the ball, which is important.

"My plan was to give him 60-65 minutes, but he was comfortable and it was probably only in the last 10 minutes that he started to tire, which is when I took him off.

"It was a very, very good performance for him and it's great to see him back playing."

Lucas's display was one of several positives for Liverpool, who dominated throughout against Southampton.

Daniel Agger's first-half header proved to be the difference between the two sides, though Rodgers felt the Reds could have put the result beyond doubt much sooner had they been on the receiving end of better fortune in the final third.

"The game should have been put to bed well before it was," reflected the boss.

"I thought we were outstanding the first half. The tempo, we shared the ball, everyone was passing and moving, the creativity [was good] in the team throughout the game and it was just getting that little bit of luck with the final ball.

"No matter how much you dominate the game, if it's still only 1-0 going into the final 10 minutes it can always offer you a bit of challenge where you have to defend.

"There's no question we should have been out of sight, but the most important thing is it was a terrific performance and another win at Anfield. We continue with another three points and moving up the league."

The only negative for Rodgers and his men was a booking for Luis Suarez, which means he will serve a one-match suspension at West Ham United next Sunday having collected five yellow cards.

Rodgers said: "That's the way it goes. That was always going to be the risk, but it's an opportunity for someone else to come in."

According to Opta stats, Gerrard is second in the list of chances created this season.

    Suarez fourth.

    Man United still leaking goals
Yet they score more than the concede,
We simply cannot concede a single goal
If we do we lose or draw,
I fear i paint a picture with words true

    Our December fixtures are

    West Ham (A)
    Aston Villa (H)
    Fulham (H)
    Stoke (A)
    QPR (A)

Surely this is an opportunity to get a run of wins under our belt before hopefully strengthening in January?

The first few lines of the poem made some sense Shakespeare.

The last line needs to be reviewed.

    I think it's a realistic enough assessment.

West ham beat Chelsea at home.
    We should beat villa.
Fulham might be tricky, when they have a good day they can beat anyone.
Stoke away, what can you say?
Harry may have actually worked some magic at qpr by the time we meet.

Wow this is Liverpool Football club and how far have we fallen when you look at people's predictions/confidence for the next few games.

I will never accept it. Never !

Things need to change and fast. Be it with Rodgers or without. Fast !!

    It's not Rodgers.

It's the players he has at his disposal.

What's wrong with gradual improvement, so long as we get to where we want to be in the end?

There is enough players at his disposal to be at the very least a top 6 six side.

How he uses those players and how he manages those players is down to him.

We may finish in the top 6 by the end of the season. But Brendan Rodgers is rightly being questioned by fans right now on how he has managed the team so far this season.

Why let players go without replacing them.

Why bring in a player like Nuri and not play him? Why play players out of position.

He is in the deep end now and not being able to swim in the deep end means you sink pretty quickly and its not a good place to learn to swim.

Our next 6 games are all very winnable, stoke will be an ugly enough affair but still could win there. This month will make or break this season, if we can just hold on till january then it could be an interesting enough season from january to may.

Im all for gradual improvement but it's now 2yrs with these owners and we are stills static, bar a form of football that is good to watch but still not producing a high ppg.

    How long is long enough?
