MyUS.com. $10 registration, then shipping based on weight, then possibly import crap after that. Cheapest solution I found when I was looking a while back.

Then I got an email from dabs yesterday that they are selling the XFX 7850 2gb+ 2 free games(Dirt Showdown and Sleeping Dogs) for 179. Again I thought great price but they charge €14+ for postage which is pretty freaking steep considering the charge is £2 to the north :(

If you get it delivered to Parcel Motel in the North, they will ship it to a depot here for like €3. You have to pick it up yourself but the first 2 are free.

    Thanks everyone.

I just realized, i dont think i can turn my gtx690 into a single slot bracket, so I wouldnt even be able to use the extra PCIe lane for my sound card anyway. any advice? stick with the Z77e-itx?

    Hey guys,

has anyone here played The Witcher 2 in the last while? My HD6850 is having a really really hard time running this game. It's getting about 30fps at 2560x1440, which seems pretty good, but I have everything at an absolute minimum. I'm talking extremely downscaled textures, console-like quality.
Is the game an absolute dog to run, or is my HD6850 malfunctioning?

Slightly off-topic, but I feel I should mention it: The Witcher 2 is REALLY graphic, isn't it? I've only played the prologue, but I certainly wasn't expecting to see as much as I saw ...

Witcher 2 ( and 1 ) are one of my favorite games ever. It is very demanding on pc resources, though my q6600 3gb ram 6870 could run that game almost maxed out at 1650x1050.
at 1440p i would expect a low performance. Just check in options if ubersampling is turned off. i cant get normal frame rate with ubersampling even on gtx 680.

Never heard of that "Potalion 2710PW" monitor Eboggles, why did you pick it over the likes of catleap etc?

Only reason was the slightly better stand, and the fact that it was about $30 cheaper when I bought it.

Witcher 2 was the reason why I upgraded from 8800gt, to 6870! ;).

This game looks amazing and deserves to be seen on high settings. I just stopped playing it until I got my 6870. I need to get back to it and see the other part of the game as I did only one side of it. I sort of envy you now as you get a chance play it now from a zero! :D

I could give you the email address of the woman I was dealing with in the states if that helps you? they won't post internationally, and will only accept payment with an American credit card.

I know that no one stocks the boards, it all has to be ordered in from Germany and the US.

I spoke to shuttles regional manager, who gave me companies that would sell it, who had to reconfirm shuttle would sell it to them, then they lash on their cut, and send you a quote. I didn't ask much about the x79, but its the same deal.

it also explains why the 2 Irish companies added €160 for their 'services'.

    pm sent.

    what build are you planning?

EVGA just launched their new itx board, the stinger. no reviews yet. €177 on their own website.

also, I was pimping this forum in bargain alerts as an alternative to ordering the Dell xps 8500 a newbie was trying to order, and my comment was deleted along with a slap on the hand.

Same happened to me for saying inthread that a deal on some "gaming" computer was actually rubbish, and even with the "discount", it was still twice as expensive as building it.

BA is moderated like Adverts, AKA badly. They treat that kind of advice as thread spoiling.

Maybe we could give some feedback on this if other people were willing to contribute? Somebody start a thread in boards feedback?

    hmm, that board is interesting.

i had planned on throwing the shuttle x79 into the prodigy so that i could have 32gb ram in there and the 6 cores would have been handy as im mostly going to be using it for adobe premiere pro and after effect, which i believe are built to use multiple threads pretty well. also a gtx 680 for the cuda even though i hear conflicting reports about whether id be better off with a 580 for those programs.

but maybe im getting a bit carried away, all those us postal forwarding companies seem a bit dodgy and i could always use the saved money to upgrade later on if i just go with a z77 setup instead.

i was out of the hardware loop for a couple of years and it honestly seems to have gotten a bit confusing lately
