Wrong. Lucas was very poor when he first played for us. For the amount of stupid fouls he used to give away alone.

Dont let what he has become cloud what he first started out as.

    no I was not !

Lucas was pretty terrible in his first season as he was asked to play DM having been a box-to-box player for Gremio, his tackling was famously ropey, near guaranteed free kick for the other side every time.

How can you short list any player for the next world cup.

I don't follow you. What short list for the next world cup?

I seem to remember an awful lot of shouting at the TV every single time he played for us. I genuinely cannot remember enough good games for me to forget this. There is a strange love affair with Lucas in this thread which I fail to fully understand.

Saw a bit of your on LFCtv. They had Molby :) & Houghton  on it. Molby was talking about the Bundesliga and saying that's where the value is for players. He mentioned numerous AM players but one in particular that he says is ready for EPL. He suggests LFC should go for the Hamburg forward Son Heung-Min. I don't follow much Bundesliga, would he be a good acquisition ?

Son Heung-Min plays for Hamburg, Frank Arnesen is the sporting director, he used to be at Chelsea as head scout when Rodgers was a youth coach at the club. Its all linked!

And how exactly is that something which should warrant him getting short listed for the world XI?

FIFA will always look at international form for those lists before club form

Even if they do that (which they shouldn't) and look at things objectively, Gerrard still shouldn't be on the list tbh. He was tidy enough in the Euros but still nowhere near the elite midfielders on the international stage over the past 12 months.

Someone alluded to Lucas being the next captain.

Would that be the general consensus on here?

I think Agger should also be in the mix.

Or if Reina was back to his best, he would also be a prime candidate.

Any one of them 3 would make a very good captain you could Skrtel into the mix aswell . I think Lucas would be my captain because he plays in the center of the pitch so he could be giving instructions to everybody and it would make it easy for him to do it .

I thought he played very well against Swansea. Signs of the old Reina there.

But up until he got injured he was muck so he has a bit more proving himself to do I think.

Jones did pretty well while Reina was injured so maybe that put a bit of pressure on him to pull the finger out. A bit of competition is always a good thing.

If 'The Rodgers' is still in charge Joe Allen will be captain and vice captain.

If owners continue to cut costs
ie Cole Downing and rest of dead wood
And run Liverpool as a midtable business
And continue to increase revenue with commercial dealings is there a need for them to win trophies, They have a world wide brand, Few decent cup runs would keep people interested, So why invest, Tidy business , profits up year on year if the continue to cut costs while increasing revenue,

Is this the way its going to be,
    Rodgers yes man
Any other manager would cause a storm if no striker bought in Jan

I can't see the Owners getting away with a stunt like that because after awhile the sponsors will get annoyed and demand we start winning trophies or they will the revenue . If they bring us down that path I'm sure alot of sponsors will wave goodbye when they are finished their contractual obligations .

Or they could just run out the current commercial deals then flip the club.

Who knows but the next window should tell us a lot.

I still think they may be hanging back on spending until they see how FFP goes. If it's implemented they know the club can generate enough income to be up there. If it isn't they can't compete with billionaires so will look to sell having maximized their profits.

Can't argue with that , I wonder are FSG just trying to make the accounts look great for a sale because I don't know how it works owning two clubs . Something will have to give at some stage and I think we will go back on the market if thats the case .
