strawman argument. Armistace day is not the same thing nor im i offended by a british football club having military weapons on show any day of the year for whatever reason, despite the british killing people in croke park. thinly veiled dig at the irish maybe? never, im just paranoid that ye do such a thing!

glorify the british military but dont insult people by trying to say that ye are commemorating the dead though

Yes, i'm having a dig at the irish, because that would make complete sense.

It's a simple fact - we're on a Rangers thread, on an Irish based football forum where the vast majority of those complaining about Saturday's events - are indeed, Irish.
Get a grip of yourself Dempsey.

You're in a Rangers thread, complaining about Rangers FC celebrating the armed forces on Armistace Day.
You, along with others have made reference to the gun that was fired prior to the match.
But you say that none of this is any of you're issue?

Then why are we discussing it? Surely the politics forum is better placed for that?

i didnt say you were having a dig at the irish. read the post properly before going off on a rant. you think it didnt cross the organisers minds? youd want to be fair naive to think otherwise!

So rangers werent celebrating remembrance day it was Armistace day! sure it wasnt veterans day or anzac day. LOL

the problem is the continual strawman arguments, the constant 'piss on peoples heads and tell em its raining' type posts from rangers supporters. call a spade a spade ffs

British Club shows respect to British soldiers on Armistace Day.
    Irish people get offended.

Really, that's it in a nutshell folks.

I don't wear a poppy, i don't take part in any pomp and ceremony regarding armistace day. But it sure as **** isnt the big deal some of you lot are making out to be.

"Oh but there was a gun on the pitch!"
Shock ****ing horror lads, the army, by definition use guns.
    get over it.

In the past i've seen small town fete's proudly shoing of tanks and other such creations.
I might not be entirely comfortable with it, but who am i to tell these people that their interest in it is wrong?

Is it possible to disagree without using the offended tag? I for one am not and havent seen any posts that are.

    Fair point and duly noted.

I'm gonna leave this conversation alone tbh, when accusations of Rangers deliberately having a pop at the Irish start coming through I think its probably time we all did.
Rememberance day and Armistice day are the same "celebration" in the UKbtw Dempsey.

It was a thinly veiled dig at the Irish by Rangers. Christ almighty, just when you think you've heard it all, another cracker pops up.

It takes a special kind of person to think of Croke Park when Rangers have a gun next to the field.

The club never done anything like that before is the next thing you'll tell me. im not saying its the reason they did the display but if you know your british history, you know that the british military attacked an irish sports ground, it was a fairly unique event that wouldnt be lost on anyone glorifying the british military. did any other british club have military weapons on the field or was it just the one with a large irish immigrant population in the city?

Just "The One" with a large Irish Immigrant population?

What, Liverpool? Manchester? Coventry? London? Cardiff?
There are plenty of large population centres which have a major Irish influence man.

I'm slightly amazed that someone outside of the geographical area can actually become so blinded by the West of Scotland mindset, and it's kind of scary to see it in action.

You bang on about Straw Man arguments, yet you come away with this nonsense about Croke Park? Unbelievable.

Wow, talk about an overreaction to me pointing out the connotation of a football club celebrating the british military by having a gun on a sports field!

"The One" meaning the city with the largest sociopolitical problems involving irish immigrants, historically and currently. Is it wrong to say that?

Did any football clubs in those cities you mentioned have military weapons on the field glorifying the british military?

So does anyone know if Front Door Liz got her job back?? What's the deal with that and The Main Stand being closed on non-match days???? A bit strange for a club who are 'cash rich'

That must be just more internet bampot patter there.
Any truth in Charles Green's new business proposal that they will be capping players wages?? Wonder what the cap will be and how it may affect any new signings.

No he is talking about a cap and I for one agree with him of course it depends on what level said cap will be.
Crazy spending helped put us in the position we are in sensible thinking as far as I see at the moment.
Yes the front door is shut on non match days. There is no o e there anyway they ard all on Argyll house as far as the woman that lost hef job she works for G4S as far as I know. Pretty pointless having the main door open for nothing. It's not ideal but that the way if goes

No, Liz is a club employee, as has her family been for decades.

If I'm correct she is the third generation in her family to work for the club, and is a marvellous person who goes out of her way to accomodate tourists or fans taking a visit of Ibrox in.

Stuck in work, but apparently there are over 50.000 people watching this game on RangersTV, at about £5 a head.

This is definitely the way forward.
