Surprisingly most guys turn out to be grumpy b*st*rds..<seriously lol>

At least, if they are funny/good humoured to start with..then there is also a better chance that they may also be kind and good in a crisis, patient ect.. (Don't shoot the messenger!!) as well as being good company ;)

It's not really rocket science or hormonal or chemical - who wants to go on a boring date ....?

Tis quite annoying when you're not getting the banter back from someone or they can't keep up with your witty quips.

Who wouldn't want to be with someone that could make them laugh. May as well go out with your accountant so.

No thanks. I'd imagine it would be boring as you have said.
Chin up there is someone out there for you.

With "Spiritual" as your name, I'd say you're "hoping + praying" ...!!

But why would you wanna make little jokes all the time and be a comedian just to get on with a girl?

Why would you not want someone who likes to think and wonder about the big and small things in life, experience new things and all those cheesy stuff like that?

I had a feeling you meant someone who's always the clown, making jokes, never being serious, when I first read your opening post, but wasn't completely sure.

When I think of a man who can make me laugh, I don't mean someone who always acts as described above. A person can make you laugh AND be also be the kind of someone who thinks and talks about big stuff, thought-provoking stuff etc. It's more to do with seeing the humour in things that you see humour in - sharing a sense of humour, and being someone who, when you're in their company, there's a good chance if there's something to be laughed about, you'll both see/understand it and laugh together.

You make it sound like non-stop one-liners and comedy sketch reenactments. Maybe even some clown shoes for those lulls in conversation :p:p

You want to be able to do those things with a sense of amusement and a grip on the moment.
Wit is an indication of intelligence as much as anything else.

I just don't see that one. Is it because he's Bond? He's no Denzel.

It was more about why is it so important for a man to be funny/make the girl laugh that its one trait almost all women mention as what they'ld like in their man?

Why does it take precedence over intelligent, deep, thoughtful, kind, caring etc.

And a 12" flute. And Gin, a good supply of gin. And money, they do like a bit of dosh. These women are feckin demanding really!:D Mine is anyway.. Funny, rich, good looking. All men generally look for is a pulse and reasonably good legs...

Good sense of humour or GSOH if you will, can mean a few things. It never or rarely means the group comedian(unless he's the top of the heap). It can mean a man emotionally mature enough to laugh off life's shíte, or it can mean a man who is generally entertaining, it can mean a man who is socially mature* and not afraid to put his humour out there in the group, or in some cases with the high maintenance types it can even mean a man who will take her "emotional shít" and not over-react. Or a varying mix of the aforementioned. On a more basic level being possessed of verbal(and physical) humour can be a sign of higher testosterone men.

*generally speaking and IME being socially mature and comfortable in that is a major trigger for attraction in women. Like I said in general, but that's been my observation. Men don't seem to write off socially awkward women nearly as much as the ladies do with socially awkward blokes.

I remember reading frank skinners first autobiography where he said that birds always said that they were attracted to funny men and he would have them in stitches but then they,d go back home with his better looking mates and shag them instead. Its an advantage being funny but more often than not it doesn't overrule being goodlooking.

    I assume that's the part they're leaving out :P

These two are great. We all respect and look up to someone who handles tough situations with character and humour.

Coz when the shít hits the fan, laughing can be the best medicine.

Yea cos he was the Comedian(tm). That archetype will get more than the Wallflower(tm), but can't trump the Goodlooking(tm) so easily. The humourous(tm) socially confident guy doesn't come across as trying to overcompensate so can often trump the lot.

+1. Plus someone with a developed sense of humour, is going to have more intelligence and is likely more at ease with themselves. Better than some awkward moaning minny as a longterm bet anyway.

Sometimes I just wonder how people don't 'get' things.

Of all the things to not understand about human nature or relationships....

I find men with "a good sense of humour" are generally good at seeing things from a different perspective which gives them influence over others and also less likely to be manipulated. They see the underlying assumptions which women often don't see. That is a key to humour, make a statement which contradicts implicitly an underlying assumption the listener has and doesn't even know they have it.

Also the humour I think women find attractive is when it is self amusing primarily. Trying to make a woman laugh is a turn of IMO.
