Theo Walcott making a very convincing arguement that he could be a decent striker. Arsene should make every effort to finalise his contract imo

Definately, his finishing has been top notch his year, his passing decisions outside the box are still mind boggling but he's really become clinical in front of the goal. I reckon him and giroud up forward with a 4-1-3-2 or 4-2-2-2, i think they'd play well of each other, giroud knocking it down for him etc.

Exactly,he has for years said its his preferred position,he deserves a chance there,Wenger has persisted long enough with him on the wings and it hasn't really paid off.

Has he being sayin it for years? Its only the last year I have heard anything about him wanting to be a striker

Il take your word for it but it seems to me it's only really since his contract starting running low

I think wenger has been saying it longer, that always envisioned theo as a forward.

Speaking of young and english, how long is the ox out for?

In our current system Walcott up front on his own would be a disaster, he don't have the touch or control to play up top on his own

The reason he is and has been banging them in is he is getting more space coming in from the wing and don't have a centre half stuck up his hole

If we switched to some form of 4-4-2 then I would def give him a go, but in the current system not a hope he is just not a good enough footballer to hold the line on his own

Exactly,no way he could hold the line himself, but playing off a target man could be interesting.

It's obvious 4-3-3 doesn't work for us. In theory it should as we have great creative midfielder's but 4-4-2 is our best formation. We need strength in midfield and cover there. Giroud is great at holding on to the ball, brilliant in the air and has a great touch. He just need somebody playing off him who can bang in the goals. Podolski, Rosicky, Walcott and Arshavin can all do that. Any bit of an eye for goal and Arshavin is in there like a light. When he is asked to do the creative work himself he gets greedy and tries to do too much, i.e dribble, pass and shoot all on his own. If we play to our strengths we will have a much better second half to the season and finish 4th I believe.

Arsenal fans campaigning against rip off ticket prices & the running of the club are getting more coverage in the media. :D

    http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2228729/Arsenal-short-changing-fans--Neil-Ashton.html

Finish in the top four and everyone at Arsenal is paid out.
Arsene Wenger can pick up his £7m salary and chief executive Ivan Gazidis will earn £1.336m basic and a £675,000 bonus.
Arsenal's staff share a wage bill of £143m, up £19m from the previous year and the fourth biggest in the Barclays Premier League.
    Only the supporters are short-changed.

I can't see Walcott working as the striker in a 4-3-3 either, we'd need to swap to a 4-4-2 for that, and not a chance Wenger will try to implement such a big change mid-season.

I think he might, we switched 4-4-2 against reading (I know), but also switched against utd until jack got sent off

It's def in his thinking somewhere

I know I said I'd be delighted with a point but dropping a two goal lead leaves a bad taste in my mouth. Especially after that farcical decision when Podolski was though on goal at 2-1.

We don't have good enough midfielders or wingers to go 4-4-2.

Pires - Vieira - AN other - Ljungberg

was the perfect midfield to play 4-4-2.

BTW, last night was the perfect night for Walcott.

Away fom hoime, against a team who were going to push up against us and attack.

These are the conditions he needs to exploit space and/or assist in counter attacks.

The thing is, we rarely get these conditions over a season. Most teams defend against us, and in these situations, he is pointless.

West Ham was a prime example - they puished on against us, he exploited the space and scored a cracking goal.

    He's not a bit player, but he's a special condition/niche player.

How would 4-4-2 help our midfield from a 4-3-3? I don't get how having less midfielders would help.

If he were playing for a lower half of the table team he'd be banging goals in, he's not for busting through buses.

    In fairness...

Cazorla - Wilshire - Arteta - Someone .... is a pretty good start.

No width, and as much as I love Mik, he's no Vieira.

I'll be furious if Theo leaves for free.we have nurtured him for 7 years spent 10 million on wages etc.I hope we didn't do all that for a team like Liverpool to benefit as it seems he is coming into himself as a footballer now.

I prefer Cazorla in the middle.

I'd love us to go balls out for a top winger and striker in January (yeah I know).

Ben Arfa or Isqo on the wing would be delicious (yeah, I know).

Llorente up front (yeah, I know we won't get him either).

    Arteta - Diaby - Wilshere - Cazorla

    Any 2 of Giroud/Podolski/Gervinho/Walcott

Good but lacking height and brawn for the nitty-gritty matches in the EPL.
Nice for European games alright where the physicality is not a great factor.
Last night I felt they were a bit slow using the ball and were caught in possession quite a lot too.

Especially as for some reason, we retain Squillachi, Chamakh, Bedtner and Arshavin on the books/wage bill (I presume Bedtner is being paid by Juve).

You never know, ye might be able to take Nani off us if ye're willing to show him some love and fork out the cash.

I'm convinced all he needs is a little love and attention and he'll blossom again.

You see, I'd wager Fergie would be of the opinion that one shouldn't sell a good player to another rival if the player would improve the rival (in as much as we are rivals these days).

Yeah I'd say Fergie would prefer him to go abroad, but he seems to like England and he's proven in the EPL. He's a very good buy for anyone with the money to go get him. And a willingness to keep telling him he's better than Ronaldo..:pac:

I'd much prefer him going to ye than Spurs anyway. After that I'd say it'd be between PSG and Anzhi, though I doubt he'd want to go to Russia.

Madrid could take a punt on him either, stranger things have happened!
