Mine takes two hours max to fully charge. Even less I'd say.

Are you using the charger that came with it on a wall socket or some random micro-usb charger?

switches itself off
charger wont stay connected
charges very slowly

if you arent doing something silly, you got unlucky and have a faulty phone, just bring it back. no point complaining to us ;)

Picked up my note 2 today. The store had none in slate so I had to go with white. I'm still getting used to it and setting it up to my liking. Seems good so far.

This Poetic flip case might be of interest to some Note 2 owners. S3 version gets great reviews. Price is cheap as chips :)

Black for £1.99 + £3.99 shipping
White for £3.95

Also Poetic Slimbook Case
Black £1.99

Use Parcel Motel to minimise delivery charges.

Just in case you consider buying new dock station for the note 2....i bought these things below and think that they are worth much more than this dock announced today. I use bluetooth keyboard and mouse for Xoom at the moment and waiting for Allshare dongle to arrive soon.

+1 for early meteor adopters this time :D
https://store.meteor.ie/phones/bill-pay-phones/samsung-galaxy-note-2

Also, I read this article about the screen and have changed my setting accordingly. Looks a lot less amoledish and more natural. It is a big difference! haven't noticed negative effect on battery either. so far.

Why has the phone gone up in price?

Also I changed the settings on my phone and colours look awful. My opinion.

Did Meteor increase the price of other smartphones too? Perhaps it's to maximise their Christmas profits?

• Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 607 ✭✭✭BroLo

They just upped the prices of the 2 new Galaxy's I think. The S3 had 50 off for October and I think the Note had 100, but it might have been 50 as well. I'd say they got an offer for October off Samsung, either that or they just wanted to meet quotas.

Anyone having battery drain issues with the stock browser?
This week it's killing my phone.

I did it earlier and now that I've become more accustomed to it its very similar to the nexus 7.

Install this to change the colour of the LED. There is a paid version as well.

I actually uninstalled it because of an accessibilty issue. In order for lightflow to work accessibility has to be turned on which is annoying! If you have folders on your homepage and open or close them a voice tells you you are opening or closing them. Checked around but so far there seems to be no resolution or work around.

Anybody else install the 4.2 keyboard. I kinda like it but I used to use swype. I like how it shows you in real time what you are typing.

Hi all,

Literally just got my new Note II and have it sitting beside me ready to set up.

Tips for setting up? Anything to do/not do?

I like the Apex launcher. Do I need to root to install Apex? Whats the best way to root it?

Having rooted and flashed custom ROMS on the SGS1 and SGSII I'm going to try hard to keep the Note II stock for as long as I can as I feel (probably incorrectly) that custom ROMS on the Note might lose some of the apps which make most use of the stylus?

Really looking forwards to getting the out out this and being a contributor on here.

If you want to use launcher then use nova - the only one which has not gave me ANY problems...

If you flash non TW ROM then you will probably lose split screen option - available after holding "back" key - very useful feature.
Rooting will help with getting rid of some cr@pware...but then, some updates will be probably coming from samsung soon - some stability small updates.
With nova launcher i stooped rooting and flashing as I don't see a need for it...This phone is mega fast!!!
My previous note 1 was rooted, flashed with different roms. The only thing I am missing from root is lack of option to install ps3 Bluetooth controller for games...

I fully recommend this for note - awesome gadget - i use it for two days for playing games, netfilx, youtube, music and browsing :D:D:D:D:D

All i have done so far is root, then installed the 6x5 hacked framework (in order to keep pop up notes and multi window and maximise screen space), then used the webtool to add my own apps to multiwindow list. Had it like this for last 3 odd weeks.

Aside from that its stock and I currently cant aee any reason to change rom or use a different launcher.

I'm such a thick - looks like I have had the "continuous input" Swype style as
an option on the stock Samsung keyboard all along !!

OK, spent a few hours getting to know the N2 and it's very very impressive. I have Apex launcher working on a 6x5 grid for the homescreens so all is good and no need to root or flash a custom ROM - yet anyway.

Definitely feels big against the ear but I'm sure I'll get used to it. It feels a little slippy and difficult to control without a cover so that's #1 on the list of things to get. I just want something thin which will protect the edges without adding too much bulk. Any suggestions? (I'll look back through the thread - just being lazy :p )

I can't quite suss out the S Pen. When I write on the pad it always converts my writing to ALL UPPERCASE which will crack me up unless I find a way to fix that.

Anyone try this spare battery? http://www.ebay.ie/itm/P592-3500-mAh-Replacement-Battery-Charger-Samsung-N7100-Galaxy-Note-II-2-/170924915203?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item27cbeb3a03#ht_1824wt_1271

Have to say I'm very happy so far.

wrt to car mount, I've had a few of those suction ones and they are BRUTAL. got this as a last chance salon and it is awesome. really really good the suction actually has that sticky stuff on it that is reusable (like those grip mats) and comes with a more permanent 3m sticker if your dash needs it. mine doesn't however. The actual clamps that grip your phone are super tight and I get very little wobble - perfect :)

Hi 00sully, That's a strong recommendation. How easy is it to attach and release the phone each time?

This car mount seems to have a similar (highly effective) base but a different "grip" mechanism and is twice the price!! http://www.mobilefun.co.uk/supergrip-universal-case-compatible-car-mount-p30552.htm and it looks great in the video http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=2HhNsiU6k9k

I'd appreciate your thoughts on comparing the two.

Cheers,

Ben

Love the continuous typing option on the keyboard works very well very accurate!

It will take some getting used to.

I take it to add a word to the dictionary you will have to type it though!

How do I add a word to the stock dictionary with predictive text on

1. Type your word in as normal

2. Directly above the keyboard a number of words will appear including the word you entered.

3. Touch the word you entered. A message will appear saying touch again to save.

4 touch the word. A pop-up will appear showing your word with the option to add to dictionary. Click save and the word should be added to the dictionary.

With regards to the phone size you'll get used to it in no time!

I've had the phone for a few weeks now and I don't notice the size nor has anyone commented on it.

When you do get used to it you'll never want to go back to a phone with a smaller size again!

How did you manage the 6x5 homescreen? I'm enjoying stock touchwiz's features a lot. It's leaps and bounds ahead of previous stock OSes.
