    Saturday Tee time Irish time

    2:15 am
    MICKELSON, Phil
    DUFNER, Jason
    LOWRY , Shane

I imagine Lowry must be walking on to the tee and realising that he is definitely a big time golfer. Mickelson is a former world no. 2 (am I right here?) and a multi-major winner and Dufner is world no. 10.

    Delighted for him.

Brilliant group, hope he can keep up the good form.

Dufner could definitely do with losing a few pounds though...

Here are last year's results for ranking points:

    http://www.owgr.com/events/events_scorecard.sps?EventID=4694

A approx 10th place would get a min of 10 points.

currently he has 115 so add 10 to get 125.

Divide by 52 (worse case) events will get 2.40.

Which is the current score of Cabrero Bello in 50th overall.

Anything higher than 10th should be high 40's.

I'm not 100% sure, but I think it's likely that this year's event carries fewer WR points than last year. The top 2 in the rankings are missing and so are another 5 of the top 20. My guess would be mid 50s for the winner and probably top 8 finish needed to make the top 50 in the rankings.

Hopefully, he'll make that with a bit to spare.

It's as if Shane became the invisible man after he 3 putted the 11th. I recorded it on Sky+ and watched the whole thing looking for an update and they never provided one. They showed his approach on the 15th that finished just off the green between two bunkers and the next time you saw him play a shot was the putt he sank on the 18th.

Great that he finished with a birdie. Hopefully that will give him some momentum to kick on tomorrow and finish top 10.

what a round by Snedeker!. Lowry will be free to attack everything tomorrow anyway with nothing to lose.

Just finished watching the recorded coverage on Sky.

Pity about the 3 putt on 11th, still in his head when he drove off at the 12 ( which we didn't see).

Still, the birdie on the last should encourage him to go for it, it would be great to see him crack the top 10.

The Irish John Daly by any chance? Great talent and the kid likes to party, apparently the session he went on in Clara after his Portugal Masters win was legendary. He's only 25, he has a hell of a future ahead of him, I really hope it works out for him.

think fitness may have been a factor on the 2nd 9 today, home in 42.
he mentioned last week that we was tired in the last round

More tiredness than fitness as I'm sure he is as fit as the next guy out there. He's played a lot of golf in the last few weeks plus travel. I also think that saturday was a tough day for him playing with Mickelson. Part of a great learning experience which will make him more competitive at this level in the future.

Poor finish stopped him breaking the 1 million barrier for the season and breaking into the top 20 in race to Dubai. Lot of golf at business end of leader board recently. Could struggle next week in Singapore. Will have a week off then before Dubai i guess.

Anyone know what the 32nd place finished will have on his world rankings?
Or anyone know when they update the rankings? Don't seem to have been updated to reflect WGC.

Lack of fitness leads to tiredness. Asia is energy sapping countries. Maybe he should skip Singapore and get some rest for Dubai. Singapore will be worse than China for humidity.

3 weeks over in Asia could result he not been ready for Dubai physically.

He's now 56th in the world - what was he before this week?
    POULTER MAKES RANKINGS GAINS
Ian Poulter has climbed from 26th to 15th in the world after his two-shot victory at the WGC-HSBC Champions in China.

It was his first solo win since the Australian Masters last December, but came in only his second appearance after winning all his four games in Europe's outstanding Ryder Cup triumph in Chicago.

The top six remain the same - Rory McIlroy and Tiger Woods did not play - but joint runner-up Jason Dufner improves from 10th to seventh.

Latest leading positions in the world golf rankings:
    1 Rory McIlroy 12.78pts, 2 Tiger Woods 9.24, 3 Luke Donald 8.77, 4 Lee Westwood 6.71, 5 Justin Rose 6.26, 6 Adam Scott 6.10, 7 Jason Dufner 5.99, 8 Webb Simpson 5.80, 9 Brandt Snedeker 5.77, 10 Louis Oosthuizen 5.72
    11 Bubba Watson 5.68, 12 Steve Stricker 5.28, 13 Phil Mickelson 5.16, 14 Keegan Bradley 5.13, 15 Ian Poulter 5.08, 16 Nick Watney 5.07, 17 Matt Kuchar 5.05, 18 Dustin Johnson 4.97, 19 Peter Hanson 4.87, 20 Ernie Els 4.80
Other leading Europeans: 22 Sergio Garcia, 24 Graeme McDowell, 27 Paul Lawrie, 28 Carl Pettersson, 30 Francesco Molinari, 33 Nicolas Colsaerts, 34 Martin Kaymer, 36 Gonzalo Fernandez-Castano, 43 David Lynn, 45 Thomas Bjorn, 46 Fredrik Jacobson, 47 Jamie Donaldson, 49 Rafael Cabrera Bello, 50 Alexander Noren, 51 Martin Laird, 54 Richie Ramsay, 55 Thorbjorn Olesen, 56 Shane Lowry, 57 Marcel Siem, 61 Padraig Harrington, 63 Simon Dyson, 64 Bernd Wiesberger, 68 Anders Hansen, 72 Jonas Blixt, 77 Alvaro Quiros, 83 Pablo Larrazabal, 85 Matteo Manassero, 90 Robert Karlsson, 92 Miguel Angel Jimenez, 93 Robert Rock, 94 Ross Fisher, 97 Danny Willett

Ranking points suffered as a WGC without Rory and Tiger but I reckon they had a happy week playing their head to head and then shooting their various Nike ads for next year!!! It's not a coincidence they were stuck in the middle of nowhere together.

Just looking at the tournaments he played that will drop from his ranking calculation and statistically it's good news for him as he finished 64th with no ranking points and then 4 missed cuts and then a 61st with no ranking points.
He's kinda in a position like Tiger was a year ago where he's gaining points the whole time and not dropping any.
In two years time it will be the opposite but that's a while away yet!

I agree. There's a huge field and the mental pressure of the last few weeks combined with the climate over there must have him pretty exhausted, so he might not even make the cut. Far better to go home and recharge his batteries for Dubai.
